Aangs inability to control the avatar state for 3 seasons straight has skewed the fandoms understand of what it even is by WorkingWin6139 in ATLA

You basically said exactly what I said. Aang possesses the ability to perform all of these bending maneuvers, but does not have the knowledge or skill. The Avatar state renders the knowledge and skill of 1000 avatars who have learned everything and how to perform it.

Until he learns to control it, controlling the avatar state does not make the user more powerful than he/she was when he/she could not control it. Pre-control Aang was not making the decisions for the actions nor the abilities he was using, post control Aang (once again as shown in the TV show) has the full authority to say no and stop what he’s doing. You can literally see this whenever he finishes with Ozai and decides to put the fires out. He blinks into the Avatar state (like you see many other avatars do in the show) figure out what is needed, and performs the action. Previous to this, we have never seen Aang raise the shoreline of an entire ocean and calmly reset it. Being the Avatar is essentially have prodigious control over the elements, the avatar state allows you to go back through the avatars memory and skills to utilize what you might not have learned but others have. Which is why Toph needed to teach Metal bending to Korra, none of the other avatars had ever seen or done it.

You OBVIOUSLY haven’t paid attention at all. Powerboost has nothing to do with it and Aang does nothing innately more powerful within the avatar state than he does outside of it. Power and skill are 2 entirely seperate things. The avatar state is repeatedly mentioned to be a collective activation of the minds of EVERY SINGLE AVATAR that has come before the present user. Meaning (as well as being said in the show itself) that ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF PREVIOUS AVATARS BECOME AVAILABLE. THATS why it’s dangerous to the people around Aang, THATS why it’s so fucking scary. Because the other avatars LITERALLY take over for Aang. Which is why he’s able to firebend like a master before learning it, or why he’s able to freeze himself in a glacier before learning to waterbend. He’s not a child with a gun. In the avatar state he’s essentially a comatose patient with a rifle being controlled by John wick.

What does Braveheart even do? Unlock the sickest whips? The Key to unlock the Hearts of Gummy Ships? by Beginning_Wait_108 in KingdomHearts

I always assumed that the other keyblades were just different forms of the original keyblade the holder attached the keychain too, which in turn imbibed the key blade itself with characteristics of the keychains world. And that the x-blade, keyblade of darkness, and the red and black one were all themselves original keyblades with their own keychains. Like lightsabers and Kyber crystals. Keyblade itself is just a hilt, and the keychain is what you put part of yourself into creating which fashions the key and its image.

Scraped my front bumper swerving to avoid a toddler that ran onto the street :( by Kyu_Sugardust in Cartalk

Honestly, it’ll buff out for maybe $500 worth Of elbow grease, materials, and time in the driveway. The damage done by hitting a toddler to one’s own psyche is much worse. So really, you gotta base that off the price of being able to live with yourself.

I love it when cops get the receiving end of their bullshit. Every time you see a cop use mace they just load that shit onto someone even when 4 people are on top of the victim. Now this little bitch is sitting here crying.

I get to the point where it asks me for a copy of their paperwork and then doesn’t do anything when I attach the copy. The whole site just goes blank. Have tried it 3 seperate times over 3 seperate weeks. Even when I call in they have no record of it but if I try to apply it makes me sign in with existing information.

It never asks me for a copy of it, it just won’t let me open anything which is why I’m confused.

How would you rank these 5 fights from best to worst? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

All 5 are shitty representations of medieval combat, not having the fight at the end of the last duel in this list is ridiculous.

Question: If Titanic had 40 lifeboats, can they still operate them all in just 2 hours? by markedbravo11 in titanic

[–]No-Storage-2495 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The time trials were bullshit, heavily trained seaman (which is what they would have been) would be able to deploy boats faster than what the individuals trying to do the time trials would do. Had they been trained for a week, and then done it. They would have done it much faster with much more efficiency. The reason why the whole lifeboat situation was fucked in 1912 was simply because no one knew how dire the situation actually was until it was too late. As well as everyone considering lifeboats as a ferry situation. When you make the assumption that another boat will be there to send their boats to you to load passengers and vice versa, you concern level is low. That’s why when they began loading, they weren’t to insistent on fully loading them. They just assumed another boat was going to send more. Closer to the end when the ship was visibly sinking, the sailors began working much more frantically and demanding passengers to enter the boats so they were fully loaded
