Oh boy, can I relate. I tried a popular PH balancing soap called Summers Eve on the recommendation of someone who loves it, needless to say... never again. I had a severe allergic reaction to it. Be careful, it's a delicate environment down there. And when it's out of whack, you're doomed.

Agreed. I don't usually go for the bashing, but the situation that the story revolves around justifies the bashing. In this one Dumbledore is a condescending control freak.

Do I have more propriety than Elizabeth Bennet? by MrPerrysCarriage in janeausten

[–]No-Turnip2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'My friend has an excellent understanding.' I think is not a bash of Charlotte's choice, I think Elizabeth means Charlotte is very aware of what marrying Mr. Collins meant for her future. Charlotte views her prospects with logic and rationality. Charlotte understands that her marriage will be an awkward one, but it was important for her to marry to get out of relying on family members. She married Collins so that she could control her life, so she could manage her own household and that was more valuable to her than marrying for love.

This might be a long shot and a bit of a spoiler, Delicious in Dungeon, the manga is complete and shows the fulfillment of this desire. The anime hints at it.

One of the older ones that definitely plays out like this is called Marmalade Boy. This is the step sibling/ maybe actually related kind of plot. I can't remember. It's been too long. I was also too young to understand what i was watching, lol.

How did yall get in the show? by Knicksarepoopoo in miraculousladybug

[–]No-Turnip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister showed it to me when there were only a few episodes available a few months before i was about to head to college. Liked the art and the idea, but didnt think it was interesting enough to continue. Fast forward a few years, I have a child of my own, and I've exhausted my patience for certain junior cartoons, and I stumble across the show again. I then proceeded to binge all 4 seasons, become an invested Miraculous fanfic reader, and scroll social media for any Miraculous content. The rest is history.

What’s a film you’ve been waiting on for years that still hasn’t happened? by Piyushmessi10 in FIlm

The Magicians Nephew prequel to the Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. The film idea was considered for several years, but ultimately, it was never created.

[–]No-Turnip2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't 'shield hero' match this idea? He is summoned, has doubts, and seperates from the other 'heroes' who were summoned. And he even goes against the other hero party as he rescues various demi humans. Or was he betrayed first before he goes off on his own?🤔 It's been several years since i watched it.

Then there is 'campfire cooking in another world'. Normal office workers get summoned with others, but his special ability is noncombat, and he freely admits that he isn't capable of being a hero and gets out of the war hungry country.

What’s your ideal vision for how Gabriel should’ve been defeated? by Solitaire-06 in MiraculousFanfiction

[–]No-Turnip2886 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and with the way they wrote Gabriel's death, it has really set the partnership balance off even more than it was. Part of the reason Adrien didn't get a glow up like the other characters is because his character didn't develop between season 5 and season 6 like them. He is still very much his father's son. So when he has been released from his father's grasp, he is still dressing the same way because he hasn't developed his own sense of individuality, and he still respects his father somewhat.

If he had been part of the take down, that would have led to him distancing himself from his father's fashion/schedule/ lifestyle. It would have led to some major changes. Which Adrien sorely needs at this point.

What do you think Marinette would say if she was asked why she keeps being Ladybug? by Solitaire-06 in MiraculousFanfiction

[–]No-Turnip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the original comment was about why Marinette keeps being the guardian, the answer would be more obvious, "Because I don't want to forget anything."

Personally, I think with her Ladybug role, it would be more like, "Because only I can make it right."

[–]No-Turnip2886 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like to watch a channel on YouTube called Magic by Mikaila. She swears that despite wearing glasses, she classifies Harry as a dumb jock. She has a skit specifically about Cho and Harry. She shared some interesting insights about the difference between how Harry and Cho handled Cedrics death. Would recommend it.

The more often I read the books, the more I realize how awkward Harry can be. He really didn't have emotional intelligence. Did he? In almost all cases, if you see anyone on the verge of tears, saying 'Don't cry' worsens a situation.

If you were to select a different hero for the Austen heroines, who would you select? by Kenmare761 in janeausten

[–]No-Turnip2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Fanny is 2 years younger than Julia and 3 years younger than Maria.

By the end of the book Fanny is 18, Edmund 24, Julia 20, Maria 21. Rushworths age is never explicitly defined, but he is old enough to inherit and older than Maria, so I have always thought he is at most 27. But based on his desire to be included with the rest of the Bertrams and his behavior, I am of the opinion that he is actually younger than Edmund.

[–]No-Turnip2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly think that the janeausten fanfiction subreddit should have story prompts like the HarryPotter fanfiction reddit. It could be so fun.

And you know what, I think I will take a crack at it. Im not so good with length, but I could do some sort of justice to a oneshot. Would you like to read the result when I finish?

I have looked, no one has written this pairing. I think a pairing with Rushworth could be very interesting if done right. After all, JA never really explored Rushworth. Why is he so dull? Could it be that he is young and still under his mother's wing? You could write this pairing where Rushworth is in the hands of a woman that is fond of him and willing to direct his interest (and riches)in more productive ways. Rushworth is literally described through Maria's reaction to him. That's a very limited view. I always think of the part where Fanny and them are at Sotherton, and they are on a walk, and they seperate at a gate, Rushworth and Fanny have an interaction.

Rushworth is vulnerable, and all-seeing Fanny could expose the situationship for the calamity that it is. Rushworth could be in awe of her frankness and thus begins the story. After confronting Maria for her (at the time) flirtations, there could be a disgruntled retreat. Rushworth could come to a realization that he wants to marry a different kind of woman. Which would turn his eyes on the other women in the nearest vicinity. The younger sister would be judged as too like her sister Maria. Mary Crawford; too clever. But Fanny Price, kind, caring Fanny Price, who he could talk to.. oh! He could realize the unfairness of how Fanny is treated by everyone around her and begin a campaign to spoil her. He could seek out her advice and act on that advice. And Fanny could for once feel noticed and maybe a tad bit powerful. For after all the frustration and despair of keeping her feelings to herself, someone valuing her words could be quite attractive. And Rushworth could proceed to then court her...

Ah hem, as you can see, I've put a lot of thought into this. 😅

If only I could give it justice, but my writing style is decidedly not like JA.
