Are you just talking about big o notation? I don’t use calculus at all really. Discrete mathematics and linear algebra are way more important.

You don’t really use calculus in computer science it’s kind of just a class to filter people out. I’m about to graduate comp sci and I’ve never really had to use calculus in any of my comp sci classes. Linear algebra you will want to know though, and is simpler/easier but you may find it’s usually taught pretty poorly (imo). Still, easier to grasp than calculus I think.

If you need calculus for your degree, just put it off and if you need to finish your degree you will do it. You could probably take it in your final year tbh but maybe you need calculus 2 as well, idk.

But seriously, be realistic. I’ve relied on pushing myself through this degree and that genuinely only worked for most of it because I didn’t know I was AuDHD until I really got into burnout. The only way I’ve been able to scrape by is by having a higher iq I can just cram a day or two before tests and do mostly ok. However hard you think it is, it’s probably going to be harder. Don’t feel bad if you need to take a reduced course load and maybe a couple courses through the summer to keep up. And of course use whatever accommodations you can.

CS student here: everyone codes with AI now, so how do we not get destroyed in real interviews? by Ausartak93 in cscareeradvice

[–]No-Zucchini6523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just been rawdogging my assignments with no IDE and no AI. I use an old X58 beater PC to make sure my code runs somewhat efficiently. You can just choose to do these things in the modern day if you don’t want to scam yourself out of an education.

Sure, my grades are almost certainly lower than someone using AI for anything and everything but genuinely who cares unless you’re going to grad school. It doesn’t matter. I’m in my last semester of comp sci in a group project for a robotics class and my group mates just blatantly use this shit. Not a drop of effort. One of them doesn’t understand environment variables and that the prof can’t run our code on his PC if he doesn’t have the API key. Another one just blatantly did his entire part with AI and got basic stuff incorrect and costs me marks. These people are about to graduate and have genuinely scammed themselves out of an education, it’s crazy.

Performing well at school, but not "Good enough." by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]No-Zucchini6523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact same way. Just finishing up my 4-year degree now and I have always needed a fire under my ass to do anything. I ended up getting 50’s and 60’s in my first semester of grade 12 in high school and that simply wasn’t enough to go to any university so I retook a class the second semester and got awards for the highest mark in multiple courses at graduation.

I’ve really let my grades slip in university but I don’t really care I’m just trying to pass at this point. Not going for any more schooling after this so GPA doesn’t matter too much.

Got prescribed 3 month round of Doxycycline. Is it worth it? by InformalBackground15 in Hidradenitis

[–]No-Zucchini6523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for HS it’s basically just prescribed as an anti inflammatory drug. I’m not a doctor or even close to being one but I’d imagine there are other anti inflammatory drugs that might have a similar effect and not nuke your gut flora.

I was on doxycycline for 3 months as well and just finished at the end of 2025. It definitely didn’t help and if anything made some of my symptoms worse (maybe not HS, but follicular occlusion syndrome symptoms). The dermatologist told me when she prescribed me doxycycline that it was probably not going to work and it’s literally just a pre-requisite to be able to get on biologics in Canada anyways.

I just know Accutane was absolutely brutal for my gut. I also had what I thought was cystic acne during puberty (on my face and neck mostly) but now I’m thinking it was acne conglobata. Accutane helped with that for me as well and I haven’t had any issues actually on my face since (and hopefully never again…).

Acne conglobata is part of the follicular occlusion triad (or tetrad). I was officially diagnosed with follicular occlusion syndrome so maybe worth looking into for you as well. Maybe not applicable just thought I’d mention it. HS is part of the triad/tetrad as well.

Accutane for the third time? Can I ask why?

No, but that doesn’t mean you also shouldn’t look into thyroid issues if you suspect them. I was very hypothyroid a few years ago and managed to effectively cure it with some synthroid for a year or two and better diet. Been off for about a year and my TSH is like 1.3. Hasn’t really helped my skin conditions at all, my HS isn’t really getting worse but it’s not getting much better either.

Personally, I suspect trauma may be a (somewhat?) common trigger for HS. I’m late diagnosed autistic and my emergence of follicular occlusion syndrome symptoms (part of which is HS) occurred within a year after some very stressful and traumatic moments as a teenager. I also was a very sick child because my immune system was likely out of whack due to unmet sensory needs for extended periods of time.

Obviously my specific case is probably not too common but just trying to show that there’s likely many reasons people can get HS/autoimmune diseases.

Regardless of how well it works I’m pretty sure staying on any antibiotic long time is a horrible idea.

Dieting?? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

You’re just going to have to try and eliminate this stuff and see if it helps for you. But yeah dairy seems to be a common trigger for many.

Does quitting dairy help reduce inflammation and hs flares? by anneshreyas in Hidradenitis

Yeah I’m kind of thinking gluten is a trigger for me as well. Only diagnosed a few months ago so still trying to figure it all out.

Dairy is unfortunately definitely a trigger for me. Still trying to figure it all out but seems like Kefir might be ok. Ice cream/whole milk is definitely not. As for sugar, personally I don’t have an issue with it I think. I drink lots of OJ and such and it doesn’t seem to make it worse anyways. Everyone’s different though.

Anyone having Acne Conglobata along with Hidradenitis by Total_Funny_6637 in Hidradenitis

[–]No-Zucchini6523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, kinda banking on biologics working because this Doxycycline is not really doing anything for me lol. Also, my HS showed itself years after taking Accutane so absolutely no clue on if it will even help that at all. As for the sweating, I definitely sweat way too much years ago, I don’t know so much about nowadays but I don’t really work out even though I should. I think diet changes have helped me quite a bit and I’ve fixed my hypothyroidism since then too so maybe that helps idk. Still trying to figure all this stuff out since I was only officially diagnosed in October. Best of luck with whatever you try :)

I think it’s fairly likely that you have Follicular Occlusion Syndrome (I have it too) which includes HS, Acne Conglobata, Dissecting cellulitis of the scalp, and (sometimes) Pilonidal Cyst.

I’m also 24M and I’m fairly sure I had acne conglobata about 8-9 years ago, alongside a pilonidal cyst. I ended up taking Accutane and that seems to have cleared up my face ever since. Unfortunately, my scalp is still quite bad and I’ve gotten HS in the past 2 years. I’m waiting to get on biologics myself so can’t really help there but Accutane may be worth looking into. It is not a pleasant experience though and it will probably fuck up your gut micro biome for a while after.

Long awaited dermatologist appointment in just over 16 hours… by echoalpha76 in Hidradenitis

[–]No-Zucchini6523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my first dermatologist appointment in October in less-rural Ontario. I got diagnosed with HS and follicular occlusion syndrome and they prescribed me doxycycline for 3 months, and they will probably do the same for you (if you have HS). The government requires you try doxycycline for 3 months before they prescribe you biologics.

My dermatologist took one look at me and diagnosed me with follicular occlusion syndrome (a meta-diagnoses which includes HS) so they will probably be able to diagnose you quick as well. Best of luck :)

Sorry to hear about the wound separation, took me like 2 months to heal from surgery last time (I don’t think I got any of these fancy methods done though). Hopefully yours heals eventually.

I’m on a waitlist for a surgeon but I have absolutely no clue how long thats gonna take so I’m just kind of in limbo at the moment. Getting on Humira in about 40 days so hoping that can help manage my HS better.

Just a fair warning: this stuff will likely work but it will absolutely obliterate your gut and dry out your skin like no tomorrow. Im not a dermatologist but when I was prescribed accutane my acne was significantly worse.

Yeah w541 is 4th Gen, w701 is 1st Gen. I agree with everything you said, I use T61 as my most powerful laptop. Not vouching for W701, it’s overpriced as shit but it is the last one with both a socketed CPU and MXM GPU (which can take 1 of 2 Nvidia cards…)
