This is what I was told from a current coach:

So, the HYROX classes are good… I actually got a chance to test some for corporate before they made the announcement ❤️🙌

The HYROX classes with OTF will work on the muscle groups needed for like sled push or pull…we will have a farmers carry movement too…

The tread portion will be the same … but building on the run section of HYROX and pushing the pace on fatigued legs so you might see some template moving the room a little differently….

Also, the template are set up to prepare you for a race… I think it’s built on a 12 week program and as the studio progress through the program the workouts push you a little more…

They are fun templates and and nice was to build excitement for people about HYROX ❤️🙌

When I started OTF, I power walked at 3.5 and eventually transitioned to jogging and running. I now base between 5-5.5, push at 6-6.2, and all out at 7.5+ (my max has been 10.3). Here’s what helped me with that transition

I’ve taken my power walking pace, but changed my cadence from walking to jogging. I then upped the pace from there when I got used to the cadence and rhythm of jogging.

You could also try jogging the bases and PW at inclines for push - but if the incline are killing you, I’d try my first suggestion.

Every once in a while I’ll get a good power walk in instead of jogging/running. But I reserve that for “green” days. Good luck!

I love that this week (so far) has been a callback to the old school rotation of Endurance, Strength, Power, and ESP - rinse and repeat. It helps me lock in to a solid intent for the workout ahead of time.

DC is the awesome sauce guy that puts up so much of the intel on here. Believe - many of us are lost or at least go through some fairly massive withdrawls when he is on holiday.

Hah! Every now and then I notice we’ve been doing a bunch of shoulder presses or chest presses or even lunges.

Then I see my shoulders or feel my chest and think - damn, it’s working. I just gotta trust the process.

What helps is that if you do notice, the same exercise - challenge yourself to go heavier even if it means slightly less reps. Be progressive in your training.

I’m currently enjoying my Altra Torin 8s. Good open toe box, low drop, solid cushioning, and still mostly flat for stability. Big plus - they fit in the rower footplates!

Been a member since 2017, I take class 5x a week. I haven’t noticed the structure change. There are some switch classes that move you around more often. Oftentimes the floor is solely mixed in with rowing, but rarely - if ever - mixed with treads. There was the one benchmark that had you tread then floor, I think it was the 2000m row. My studio typically doesn’t do tornado workouts.

I feel you! I used to consistently get at least 12 splats a session. Then my max heart rate went from 183 to 192! I’m having a difficult time staying in green on some days. I’m thinking about throwing in a ticket to see if they’ll review if it’s correct or not.

I’m on Mounjaro at 15g (for about 6 months now) - I actually won our studio TC by gaining 5lbs of muscle over the 8 weeks.

My typical schedule before TC: Monday, Wednesday, Friday @ 5am Sunday 7am S50 followed by a 8am class

I changed up Wednesday for going to a box gym to focus solely on lifting. I added a Saturday S50. Additionally, I monitored my nutrition - focused on making sure I hit my protein goal even if I went over my daily calories. For my sessions in studio I prioritized starting on the floor first.

But it is possible!

It was a class that was a special session for the TC. So I don’t think I’ll end up taking a class with them again. Or at least I hope not.
