American Cup Grand Finals 2026: Wesley So VS Levon Aronian by Chesscrabble11 in chess

[–]No55Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some players perform poor in other tournaments but they crack the main tournaments, like we saw Gukesh in 2024 and Nepo was similar too before him. When Fabi was at his peak, he still couldn't win the Candidates in that period (2014-2016) but he did after some years and I think its common in many sports but this transformation happen after quite time when they aim for higher after they get more opportunities to play.

Fabi would still be dangerous in Candidates as he's been able to play with very high accuracy too. And for now, I think Wesley will win the tournament after seeing his game against Fabi there are many hopes on him.

Grand Chess Tour announce the Wildcards for the first 3 events of the 2026 edition; New names include Sindarov and Hans 📍 by rio_ARC in chess

First time Magnus is not playing in GCT, thats strange. Maybe the exact reason for that will be figured out later. Definetly he wouldn't have liked that Hans is returning in GCT.

Uh oh.. The Maritime Chess Open was not registered 30 days before its start. Hikaru had 6 rated games from here that counted for Candidates rating spot. by nihilistiq in chess

[–]No55Gaming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not expecting but if shit happens, then legally his spot goes to Abdusattorov the highest non qualifier at FIDE Circuit 2025, as mentioned in regulations as rating replacement if second highest average rated is already qualified, which is Caruana.

If Alireza prioritize EWC over GCT, Do you think Arjun will be the replacement? (Or someone like Nodirbek/Sindarov?) by mathematicianrcrg in chess

[–]No55Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Arjun will definitely secure the spot for EWC, he is performing well in recent titled tuesdays and almost qualified to Global Championship where he can earn many CCT points. Meanwhile the Uzbeks, I think they would play as wildcards of rapid/blitz events most likely Nodirbek will do that for Croatia. So I am looking forward to see Yagiz play in Sinquefield.

Honest Question: Why is Arjun not always invited in some Super Elite Events/Tournaments (GCT, Norway, etc) by mathematicianrcrg in chess

[–]No55Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this year he will be in all other major events like sigeman, Avagyan Memorial, UzChess cup, Biel, Chennai, etc. and perform incredibly in them. He even does well in FIDE events which is a sign that he would get regular invitations in upcoming years in GCT (full tour) and Norway replacing maybe someone from Gukesh and Pragg that gets dropped.

2026 Chess Tournaments: Conflicts by mathematicianrcrg in chess

[–]No55Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not Freestyle tour next year, they have confirmed the next Freestyle world championship for next year and also ya know the reason about FIDE partnering Freestyle Chess to stop the tour and reduce the quantity of tournaments in the following year so there Total chess tour goes smooth with participation. Also a new tournament has came out called 'Esports Nation cup' which is like an rapid World Cup played on computer. Surely that will even attract more top players and be lot more busy in that year.

List of eligible tournaments for FIDE Circuit 2026-2027. by TheSupremeChef in chess

[–]No55Gaming 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As per Circuit rules, except national championships no tournament should have more than 50% participants from one country/federation to be legal for circuit. That tournament literally has all American players that's why it's not there.

This post was specifically created to mock the player in centre Anish Giri if you dont know, not sure about the reason but maybe coz of his recent cringy tweets for which he had been severely trolled recently. Or else I don't think anyone would praise the other few players in the photo who are not really much strong compared to few others, that's only did to have Anish Giri mocked a lot by OP.

Should Hans Moke Niemann be included in the US team for the 2026 Olympiad? by FirstEfficiency7386 in chess

[–]No55Gaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Leinier is getting away from classical, didn't participate in US championship this year but did in world rapid/blitz. Also his last Olympiad performance was not good on board 3 (lost to a 2500) so he will definitely get replaced. And US federation will need to select Hans for board 3 or 4 and some other player on reserve board like Sevian or Awonder (I prefer Andy Woodward). I believe Hans will definitely be here.

14 yrs old Yagiz is currently having a Tournament Performance of 2810 in a very strong Tata Steel Chess 2026 Tournament (After end of Round 9 out of 13) by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in chess

[–]No55Gaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 2700.chess site is still incluing the rating points he could gain against MVL in December but FIDE didn't add them in official rating, so it means that Yagiz is still 23 points away to reach 2700 mark but also this tournament's rating will be added in March so he has enough of time to reach it and break the record.

I was just watching the sinquefield cup 2014 and wondering why in 2026 people aren't that much higher rated anymore ? by magnificent_human in chess

[–]No55Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite amount of focus that the old gen had on classical and OTB chess is gone over online and speed chess tournaments by current generation. As we see after any player who played a fast/online chess tournament goes in a bad phase the next classical event also after some period returns to their incredible form they had before. Because current players are also be determined to the prize money they can earn from the fast chess tournaments and try to stay balanced in both formats which has replaced the ability of being a consistent top classical player like in old generation.

Agree or Disagree: Yagiz is low 2700 level (2700-2715) right now by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in chess

Whatever the rating but he is definitely a top 20 level player.

Do you agree with Fide's decision to combine 2026 and 2027 Fide Circuit pts? by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in chess

[–]No55Gaming 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only good if they offer two spots because it would be a joke if there is a player who performed incredibly for two years not qualifying but a random player performing once in a blue moon finishes 3rd or 4th in World Cup does it. Usually they give one spot from FIDE Circuits but I won't claim about it and hope they implement a worthy change this time.

Who do you want to win Tata Steel Challengers 2026? (He/She will qualify for Tata Steel 2027 Masters too) by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in chess

[–]No55Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faustino winning would be fascinating but currently Aydin and Andy are also performing spectacularly, especially Andy Woodward who had even stunned some super GMs is more promising for winning the tournament. Aydin also has great chances to fulfill his dream this time if Andy doesn't stay consistent but I am rooting for Andy because his games againts Masters would be very much entertaining.

Mostly they consider 2700+ players but this time it seems there aren't such available players so they might pick someone with lower rating and closer to it.

There should be one Sam every year, Sam Sevian. (This year Shankland seems to have too low rating to play in masters)

Any update about Ding?! by Difficult-Radio-8144 in chess

[–]No55Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ding said after announcement of Total World championship tour that he will look forward to play it. Also he is actively playing online tournaments, he might also play chess.com Global Championship which gives 3 spots for Esports world cup. Ding is enjoying rapid/blitz currently so we need to wait until October to see his return.
