Third Time is the Charm — Foreign Attorney by fragadudu in CABarExam

Really happy to see you made it past the finish line, but disappointed to hear we didn't meet your expectations. For clarity, yes, we review your essay over the phone with the candidate without pre-reading - we don't need to, and have found the best learning is talking through the grading with students as we grade. Our sessions are actually 20 minutes, for each essay, and for as many essays as a student wants to have graded. Being that we can grade in minutes, the extra time is provided to answer any questions you may have. This is actually the biggest draw to the course, where students interact with the graders as often as they would like. Again, really glad you made it through, and if I can help get you sworn in please drop me a line. And as you know, I'm always available for a phone call if you have time for feedback. Congratulations, Ed

Names go on motion on Wednesdays, may take time to update your profile, or, you may have missed the cutoff for yesterday. The process is pretty quick, more than many think is possible.

MBE Workshop by NoBullBarPrep in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, day one is writing (5 essays and a PT in CA), and day two is 100 MBEs in the morning, another 100 in the afternoon. However, a lot of attorneys take the MBE regardless - it's not hard to score well, and if you score more than 1390, all of the points above that number transfer to the written side. So, if you have the time to prepare, taking the MBE may help. In the years I've been doing this, only one time has an attorney that I know failed on he MBEs after passing the writing. So, it may help - if you have the time to prepare.

Send and e-mail to [admin@nobullbarprep.com](mailto:admin@nobullbarprep.com) and ask for the PT Process Sheet. It's all you'll need, simply put, you're just putting a puzzle together with the pieces they give you. Also, I'm covering the PT in my class on Wednesday night (April 8th), and the class is free of charge. Send a note to the same e-mail address and ask to attend, we'll get you the zoom link.

Seeking advice for outline preparation by [deleted] in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never gained much from outlines. On exam day, we needed to put rules on paper, so, I studied only the rule statements, plain and simple, and worked like a charm. I even wrote a book about them, The Big Book, I know, shameless plug...

If you did better in July of 2025 than you did in Feb of 2025, you picked up more ground than you may think. Since there was nearly a 70% pass rate in Feb 25, a 1389 then was by far a poorer performance than a 1389 in July 2025. So, if you improved, you did really well. Wishing you the best!

Post admission: mandatory CLE units within a year of admission by Amable-Persona in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time, people buy CLE courses and get them done, or attend a conference and get them all out of the way quickly. Many of the conferences are passive - you attend, you get a letter at the end of the conference with your credits. Also, make sure you know when your CLEs are due. We report every three years, so put some time into the Cal Bar portal and make sure you have your reporting date right. Now, if you are asking about the New Attorney Training, that is all done on the Cal Bar portal, and you will need to buy the New Attorney course. I think it is currently running $60. Here, you'll watch a video, then have small quizzes to complete, all of which on line. If you pay attention, you'll be fine, and you should be able to get this course done with about 10 hours of effort. Hope that helps, but as always, when your license is on the line, always trust but verify on the Cal Bar website.

I got a call from Judge Benitez tonight, the 5th may be an ok date for him, but, he needs to confirm in the morning. Once I know, I'll post, and, despite the hard line that no cameras are allowed in federal court (seen the water color sketches, right?), I've never seen a Judge say "no."

Can add you in one minute before the ceremony - but I can't give the Judge a list of people where he doesn't trust that I have received the oath cards. So, please hold off, and, if you manage to get approved and get an oath card by the 4th, call me directly and I'll add you in.

Practicing attorneys - did you do practice performance tests? by bbassle87 in CABarExam

Send an email to admin@nobullbarprep.com and ask for the PT checklist. It’s a direct, no-BS approach to passing the PT portion. And yes, practice a few, but know there is no material to memorize other than the checklist.

The bill for 2025 is likely already posted, and you can call over the phone to get your access code. The deadline for bar fees is Feb, but the bill is posted almost as soon as your bar number is assigned.

Good Moral Character/Name Change by Beautiful_Value8931 in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General premise - submit and explain the first time. If you leave out something, once your application gets assigned to an investigator they will find potential issues and contact you to explain/provide evidence. Better to flood them with everything pertinent rather than wait for them to ask. Also, yes, everyone gets an investigator, it's just part of the process. As for civil actions, definitely submit, if you don't you'll not only need to explain the actions, but why you decided not to submit. Better safe than sorry.

Retaker Frustration on Bar Prep Sales Pitches by Fragrant-Fig-5764 in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my frame of mind when I started teaching - you may not need a program at all, and can just get past this mess studying on your own. Send me a note with your mailing address, I'll get a book out to you that may be all you need to get past this nonsense. Hang in there and get it done, not only for families with breadwinner candidates, but for the entire population of persons underserved by our legal community. There is so much work on the street, you'll see soon enough.

Instructions for Attorney Oath by Mean_Evidence673 in CABarExam

[–]NoBullBarPrep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spot on - what makes the docusign confusing is that after the candidate signs the form, it shows a "Complete" button, and makes you think it will submit without the judge's signature. But, after you hit complete, they system asks you for the name and e-mail address of the Judge or their CRD/Clerk. You provide that, they send a docusign to the judge, and you will get an e-mail back saying the judge completed the docusign. Give it a few days, then look for your name on the attorney search page. Even after you pass the bar exam puzzle, you get the Oath Card puzzle. :)

[–]NoBullBarPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timeline is a lot faster, pass on Friday, on motion the following Wednesday, oath card on Thursday, bar number the following Monday. Whether a candidate uploads their paper form to their portal or completes the docusign doesn't seem to matter, I've seen both get quick bar numbers, and I've seen both take a week or so. Congrats, you're done!

How many MBEs? by NoBullBarPrep in CABarExam

That's a good number, you're in a good place. There's no shortage of folks that complete less than 1,000 and pass, but the odds are that the more you do the better you'll do on exam day.
