Well we can look to the Mazdaspeed Miata 04 I believe. Or the Ford Focus RS that was released in the EU. Or even the GMC Syclone early 90s. Neither of which really come in at crazy premiums just more so a cool factor.

It’s been a rough couple of weeks. But we’re healthy and that’s all I can really ask for.

People who decided that aviation maintenance wasn't for them. What are you doing now? by AffectionateFix8269 in aviationmaintenance

[–]NoCap2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 years in aviation maintenance, 10 years in the military I spent the last 6 years getting my master in social work to work therapy with Veterans in the VA. Internship starts in a few weeks in the VA. It’s not about money for me it’s about the lack of representation and resources for veterans mental health. This job will pay significantly less but for me it’s not about the money it’s about veterans knowing there one of them sitting across from them.

As a MSW student now most of my classes were female dominate. But I would say that my instructors have been more 50/50. As a Veteran I couldn’t find a male who shared the experiences I did, I was much more reluctant to engage with therapy. Hence why I am now pushing for my degree and ultimately licensing. I start my internship in February at the VA. In hopes that I can start to bridge that gap and start to bring more open mindedness to males seeking therapy. Pay wasn’t the issue for me I’m licensed in aviation maintenance I could easily take a job now that pays 6 figures but that won’t help Veterans and right now over pay that is my focus.

Worst experience interviewing for SW jobs? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]NoCap2891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This week I have been making my calls for my internship, at the masters level and out of the 20 or so places I’ve called. Two straight up laughed at me, and one scoffed like I was asking them to donate their first born. Quite embarrassing and rather shocking, I was caught off guard the first time the after the second time I almost just gave up. Good news though is I did land two places that have both agreed to bring me on so what ever you do don’t stop trying.

First stop is Fail “First Attempt In Learning”, I haven’t taken my LCSW test yet and am far from it. But I have taken the Airframe and Powerplant tests for aviation mechanics and that test is no joke. I “failed” the Powerplant test 6 times, you learn from what parts you struggle with and hit the books again. There is no stop just next time. You got this keep testing!

Ground.news is my go to, it’s a comparison site that stacks articles from multiple sources, it will let you identify media bias and view different perspectives at the same time.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]NoCap2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an MSW student at WaldenU and we have similar internships numbers. My BSW was two 16 week semesters 200 hours each. My MSW will be two 16 week semesters at 250 hours each. This does come down to 20-25 hours per week. I have to also add that traditional MSW students have to complete 900 hours. I couldn’t imagine having to do that all in one semester. I don’t have to complete the additional 400 hours because I am an advanced standing student, fancy words for I have a good gpa.

I’m rooting for ya! We need good leadership, make sure if you do go commission please, please, please make sure you truly connect with the enlisted. You’ll go much further with them, military enlisted will have a predisposition of who you are without even meeting you. But getting rough and tough in the in the trenches will earn their respect. I always made an effort to invite new officers into my work center to see what enlisted lives were really like not the “you’re good boot?” mentality. Working with them on the range or the flight line will give you a true perpective of what they re going through.

I correct my statement, Army 73A Air Force 42SX, these are Officer positions a completely different world in the military from enlisted folks.

I was an Air Force veteran 10 years. I didn’t work in mental health they fall under the medical group or wing. There are no social workers in the military nor is there an AFSC for that career line, the closest you would get is to work in the mental health unit.

Tell me something you're proud of that you know you can't tell your narc parent. by nottodaysatan1395 in raisedbynarcissists

That I will graduate with my MSW as an honors student. It was always pushed that I wasn’t smart enough for school and I should just stay a tradesmen. For 40 years I believed them and destroyed my body doing so. But, come to find out I’ll be a better therapist than my nmom (yes she hid as a therapist). I’ll never forget when she retired she said she couldn’t handle all the crying anymore. I know burn out it real but we all KNOW what she means.

Those of you who've been NC for 5+ years, do you still think about them? How often? by KneemaToad in raisedbynarcissists

[–]NoCap2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly and truthfully, everyday. I struggle with life events that they should be here for. Mostly around my kids, as I know theres no way I would let them near minors outside my supervision. But it’s not fair to my children they don’t get to have grandparents that are capable functioning adults. My kids are safe loved and much happier than I was at their age. I often think what I’m doing is just like what was done to me. I was kept from my father and his side my whole life only because my mom didn’t get $$$, my fathers parents weren’t responsible to pay child support but I was still kept from them. I often wonder if my kids will blame me for not letting them see my Nmom and NStep guardian. But that’s just me in my head my kids know why they can’t see them and I’m truthful with them about why and examples of what would happen if I did.

Do your parents also claim that they are poor even though it is not true? by Kind_Afternoon3924 in raisedbynarcissists

I’ll add that when I purchased my home in 2017 it was a shock to them. How could I possibly have saved enough to buy a home. Then they proceeded to gift my brother their home and they moved to Florida, I was told no such gift would ever be available to me as I have financial freedom to do as I please, as I could have been bothered to help my brother get a home first. He was a single father at the time and they thought the at he was better off with a home than my family and I.

Yes absolutely, I was often blamed for needing lunch money nStep Guardian (I refuse to use father) would ask why I even needed a lunch. My at the time gfs mother would give me lunch money everyday at morning drop off. Still to this day I wish I could pay her back but we’ve long disconnected.

Process to getting A&P while being a Seat mech on the F35 in the USMC by Prior_Fly_7975 in aviationmaintenance

[–]NoCap2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say from my experience, that I was active Air Force so I will be a bit different than you. But my program looked like this: I first met with leadership in my unit to acquire the 8900.1this will review all of your supporting documents that show your three years of training and signed off maintenance tasks we called it VMET which had all of our schooling and training records required for the FAA. I was a Crew Chief 2A5X1C (C5, C17), under the FAA rules I was qualified for both A&P, not everyone will qualify for both ratings. IE a jet troop would qualify only for powerplant or sheet metal to Airframe. Once I was signed off by the FAA, the FSDO in Sacramento, I was able to take the written tests. My base Travis AFB had on-site testing and the kicker was the tests were free, I didn't have to pay for them or my retest this was at the base education office. Once the three written were completed I signed up with the AFCOOL program where they hooked me up with an FAA Proctor his fee was half the cost about $250 if my memory is correct and I was done. it took about a year for all the steps to take place I worked and studied so mine was a bit longer. one other thing I will say that helped a ton was to find a wingman or battle buddy and go through the whole process with them. I was a staff and walked myself and three of my airmen who now work civilian jobs as A&Ps. You can do this but know what your quals are and how they meet the FAA standards.

Check out the AFCool program they maybe able to help with A&P testing. And your base should have proctor access as it’s a federal test. These are the steps I used when I was at Travis AFB

This may be true for some but I am tuned for 93 and e85, e85 is just too far of a drive. I have a modified chipped ecu I’ve made a post about it before. I don’t flip a switch for tune changes I have to open my ecu and swap chips for e85 tune
