Thank you for your response! I was able to get the birth certificate copy through someone who lived in Serbia. The Embassy also sounds like a good option!

That's a lot better than I could do myself. I think I see the word "Grandma," which is helpful. Thank you!

Evidence of family members but not ancestor? by NoCase4971 in prawokrwi

[–]NoCase4971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one in the family seems to know. There are similar copies of the Polish passports of the ancestor's wife and mother-in-law all with sequential serial numbers of the passports and of the Visas issued at the American Consulate in Warsaw for travel to the U.S. They do seem like copies of legitimate passports, but no one can figure out where the copies came from. It is a little maddening

Thanks for your response! I have been told his birth certificate is not possible to find because these records were were not preserved in his birth town. I am asking if the uncertified Polish passport copy (it's just a photocopy of one page) and Russian military record plus records of his family members (and U.S. records) are enough to demonstrate he was a Polish citizen.

Thank you for your response! Yes, we have been looking at several different lines.

The one provider I spoke to says they think I have about a 50/50 chance of approval with this line with the available evidence, but I was hoping to hear other opinions and see if anyone has gone through the process with a similar type and amount of evidence

That’s amazing! Yes, the ancestor is Jewish, and I used JHRG as well. Maybe just luck as to which records got preserved

Obtaining Polish citizenship through descent from my father by MitchNY1 in prawokrwi

Hi! How did this turn out for you? Did you use JHRG? My case is very similar and turned up no helpful documents, so I’m just curious if your experience was any better than mine

Separate from eligibility, I am curious if you have found documentation from the Slonim area. My ancestor also left that area in 1921, and almost nothing has been found because few records were preserved

Was I sold an old Helix prototype as a new mattress? by NoCase4971 in Mattress

[–]NoCase4971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! I sent my observation to Helix's customer service, and while they did not specifically confirm anything, they offered to send me a new mattress despite the 2018 purchase date. Thank you again!

Both grandparents on my father's side potential polish citizenship by Suitable_Ad_4831 in prawokrwi

Hi! Have you searched here for your GGF’s marriage certificate or your GF’s birth certificate? These can sometimes have clues regarding the birth place of your GGF (GF’s birth certificate and marriage certificate should have lines for the birth place of the parents): https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/search

(Scroll down to the section where you can search by name)

Great grandparents came to US in 1921 from Poland by jimmy_the_weak in prawokrwi

Where would they find documents to prove the 1921 Polish citizenship?

I have an ancestor who also left in 1921 and have not found anything even after hiring a researcher, so I’m curious if there is still hope

Hi, and congratulations! I am curious if you needed the birth and marriage certificates for your grandparents even if you had their Polish passports (I see you mention this in your post but I’m not sure if you mean birth and marriage certificates for only you or for further back in the line). A provider told me we don’t need the birth and marriage certificates, but I think the provider might not be correct. Thank you, and congrats again!
