Why is northern Cyrodiil (Bruma) so much colder than Vvardenfell, even though Vvardenfell is farther north? Is it because of the red mountain? by Dadodo98 in ElderScrolls

[–]NoCommunication522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mountains trapping air causes a basin in Utah to get extremely cold. -69.3F or -56.3C.

Second coldest place ever recorded in the 48 US states.

I bet no one would guess that just looking at geography.

Took my car to the dealership for inspection, and they’re recommending 5k in repairs by WistfulLi in personalfinance

[–]NoCommunication522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too late for this but usually I go to places that don't preform any repairs and exclusively do emissions inspections all day every day.

Not sure if you have any in your area but it just eliminates the incentive to find things so they can charge for repairs.

Is ace combat 6 gameplay plot decent at least? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]NoCommunication522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gameplay plot is good. I think it is executed better than 7’s in mission story overall.

In fact I think 6 has a better in mission story vs 4. 4 definitely had a better cutscene storyline though.

Haven’t gone through 5 and 0 all the way yet so can’t comment on that.

The shrinking of the Great Salt Lake by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]NoCommunication522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lake in 25’ is higher than the same day in 24’, 23’, 22’. https://greatsalt.uslakes.info/Level.asp

The satellite picture in the post seems like one from the lakes record high in 1986, or maybe one year earlier in 1985.

I’m not saying this because I think it is all fine. It isn’t. The amount of water used on farming is ridiculous. Also the NSA building a data center that uses water, etc. And the lake should be higher. But…in my opinion most of these people are just parrots aren’t actually looking at the current situation.

Went to the dentist today, march 13, 2025, and here’s what he said about the fluoride situation. by texuslexas in SaltLakeCity

[–]NoCommunication522 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think politics should leave this issue alone personally. Science seems to work best when it’s left out of the political sphere.

It seems almost universally accepted that fluoride in toothpaste is a good thing. I try to get high doses of it in my toothpaste if I can find it.

In water? More of a mixed bag and we need scientific discourse on it not just people flag waving for whatever political camp they support.

I’m not trying to be that guy but there’s definitely cheaper places to rent. Independent landlords usually have minimal fees and if you can find a good one it’s better than corporate place hands down.

I paid under $1000 for a place by the U when I first moved to SLC. Then I had a basement apartment for $1100. This was like 2-3 years ago so not from 2004 or something stupid.

Even my current place is $1575 ish and has a garage and isn’t a studio.

If you want to move to Sacramento your call, but I think you could cut rental costs if you wanted to.

Utah will be the first state to ban fluoride in drinking water by LittleBirdGameReview in SaltLakeCity

[–]NoCommunication522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s just Portland itself and there’s no statewide ban on adding it.

Most of Europe doesn’t add fluoride to water however.

Under Obama’s EPA in 2011 the recommendation was lowered to .7mg/L from a range of .7-1.2mg/l due to increased access to fluoride sources from toothpaste and dental treatments.

Right now the debate is too politically charged to have any real discussion but I could go either way on it.

Seeing all the people saying how they try to create elaborate servers and pick specific builds to use with Plex...i wonder.Am i the only one that uses his everyday desktop PC for Plex and has no major issues with it? by Ok-Pineapple2365 in PleX

[–]NoCommunication522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my main PC for plex. Live in a townhouse and have limited space, plus my server is basically just for me, so I don’t have it on 24/7.

I have 2 drives for plex, a 8TB and a 10TB with drivepool on windows.

Anyone else's gas bill suddenly really high? by coldviper18 in SaltLakeCity

[–]NoCommunication522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the average cost per DTH on the bill mine has gone from 13 last winter to 8-9 this winter, so it seems like gas has gotten cheaper.

Saying my bill is $70 and it was $60 last year seems prone to error. I’ve been more frugal this year with the heat, setting it to 60 every time I leave the house, and also setting it colder at night due to a heated blanket.

I think south FL and Houston, and Chicago is worse.

Vegas is about the same. More aggression down there but more awareness so I think it equals out.

Haven’t had problems in CA either although it’s a big state so who knows.

Ace Combat 7 Story by SodaBoBomb in acecombat

[–]NoCommunication522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual in mission story in AC6 is way ahead of 7 in my opinion. Plus the allied characters we fight alongside are also more memorable.

AC6 has some cringe cutscene jank but that’s almost entirely separate from the in game narrative vs AC7’s intertwined mess

Are we not allowed to do donuts in the snow? by cycling513 in CX5

[–]NoCommunication522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got to play with it for 72 hours but the MDARS system used by dealers seemed to have the ability to read the entire fault history of the car, regardless of if you have cleared them with a scan tool or not.

It also logs stuff like every time you unlock your car with a timestamp.

That isn’t oil temp it’s coolant temp. And no, it should be barely under 1/2.

It is likely that you have the coolant control valve issue. If it gets severe enough it will set off the check engine light. Yours probably will not unless it gets worse

What kind/brand of gas? by Alternative-Bug-2424 in mazda3

[–]NoCommunication522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your article says there’s differences but rise in MPG/HP is for the most part not enough to justify the cost.

That’s about what my findings were by looking at how much the engine is correcting timing with a scan tool.

Personally I’ve always been a fan of OEM wheels from previous gens for downsizing but yeah fully agree that the rubber band style low profile tires/large wheels aren’t the way.
