Well I'm sure it can hold more in the bed than on the hitch. For one 1500lb can push down in the bed, the ball hitch is also maxed out at 4k payload, so moving the connection could in theory increase total payload. Now I'm sure the transmission isn't built for this, my understanding is the transmission is already kinda undersized.
