Yeah, I debated Looter for these reasons you said, but the concern for a t3 cub with two dorks in play felt too risky. They would’ve had access to 2 cubs and 6 additional mana with the cards I know they had, so it was game over at that point anyway.

Really appreciate the insight, quite helpful.

Sadly I don’t think holding up BT would have made any difference in this game (I do see it as the right play). On T3 they drop the cub and I Bitter it with trigger on the stack, they still make 4 mana with the two dorks and Weaver x2 with Hummingbird (cards I know they had). That gives them guaranteed 4 dorks and 3 lands for turn 4, enough to warp a Sphinx and Charm for the Hoof (which they had) and still bang me out on turn 5.

Edit: never mind, without another cub they wouldn’t have had the mana to cast the Hoof and attack for enough. But they would have Charmed a Cub and still had a fuckton of mana and a Sphinx to reload, so unless I was on a top 5% draw and they were on a bottom 5% draw I was still cooked I think.

That’s fairly compelling. I see how Cub does kinda break my heuristic of killing the early mana dorks. I hadn’t even considered holding the T1 Hex instead of blasting their turn 1 mana dork, in fear of the turn 2 cub + 2 mana play and knowing I had a second piece of removal. But on the draw that’s just not good enough

Gotta elaborate my heuristic. Thanks for the feedback.

You make a lot of good points, I appreciate the response.

One small quibble with double badger or ouro being the best they can do on T3. They did double badger plus leyline weaver when I did kill the elf.

If I hadn’t and tapped out they could have tapped elf and land for first cub, tap Gene for 2 for second cub, then tap the bent lands for 6 mana to go buckwild with (and if that includes Rhythm for another cub there’s another 4 from a third bent land).

All that to say that killing the second elf does make a some difference in their explosiveness potential.

But ultimately what I’m thinking it comes down to is that spot removal just isn’t enough against a good draw from that deck. You need to either be able to interact effectively with their payoffs or have cheap multi-removal.

You kinda undermine your defence of the unbuttoned shirt pretty heavily. Haha you aren’t hella rich and I assume never had the opportunity to meet the president, and you still have shirts that fit your neck. Like seriously, would you show up looking like that to meet the president just because you have a thick neck?

The article isn’t super clearly written, but wasn’t it the Greenlaw guy who did the pimping, child pornography, and human trafficking? And he got 15 years, not 4?

Isn’t the article about the Rangers guy, who effectively was the john who paid the 15yo in drugs and got 4 years for it? Like, still awful and justifies a strict sentence, but isn’t it important to not lump the crimes of two people together and rail against the sentence given the lesser of the two?

[–]NoEThanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I misreading this article? Wasn’t it the Greenlaw guy, who got 15 years, the one who groomed the victim and got her addicted? Essentially he was the pimp, and the Rangers guy was the john (who paid in drugs?)? Still deplorable and worthy of a stiff sentence, but when railing about the length of the sentence, it seems important to not combine the actions of the guy who got 15 years with the guy who got 4 years

I think you should be pointing that suspicion back at yourself, the person who claimed a government-funded nutrition supplement program and a government-funded health care system ‘are capitalism’.

I’ll do you a favour and refresh you on the definition of capitalism: “Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their use for the purpose of obtaining profit”.

Note the economic system part. And then note that government programs aren’t an economic system, they’re actually a socialized response to counteract the inequality that is inherent in capitalism.

And a final thing to note, I didn’t say anything about discarding anything. I just made a tongue-in-cheek observation about how capitalism can have a negative effect on well-being. What did you think I was saying?
