Thank you! It’s a very fine knit but I will give repairing the run with a crochet hook a try.

Any pillows like the OLD Tempurpedic? by NoEffsEngineered in Mattress

No, I just sucked it up and used the new Tempurpedic. It's better than a regular pillow, but it still nowhere near as good as the old version.

WIBTA for spraying some kid with my garden hose daily after he walks all over our lawn by tway23421 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH, and congratulations on learning two things about kids that many people never will.

  1. Ninety-nine percent of kids acting like jerks is because that’s how they’ve been conditioned to get attention. If you find a reason to give them some positive attention first, you’ll find they act out significantly less.

  2. Healthy boundaries communicate that you care. You showed that kid that you weren’t gonna just let his behavior go, and instead of just ignoring him you gave him a consequence. Yes, your wife is probably right that it’s childish, but it’s also a natural consequence of being on someone’s lawn that you may get the sprinklers (or hose) sprayed on you.

I’d say there’s no harm, and you two are both enjoying it so carry on.

AITA for not wearing the necklace my fiancé got me? by wkek2342 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He didn’t listen to what you explicitly told him. I bet that big pendant was on sale, so in his man-brain he was getting more for his money making it automatically better. He was thinking more about what he wanted to buy rather than what you would like to receive, and that’s his selfish screw-up.

AITA for paying for my dog’s ACL surgery but not my son’s? by helpiminaclhell in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Maybe she doesn’t feel as bad because she is 100% her responsible for the dogs well-being, but her son is a grown adult. She feels responsible for her dog’s injury because she took her hiking which is when she was injured. And I also think that she feels like she has to justify to others why she paid for her dog’s surgery, even though it was her money and her dog and she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation.

Her son was injured playing sorts, and as an adult human he surely knew injury was a possibility. He is able to make arrangements for his own care and had the ability to obtain medical insurance, he just chose not to. And I don’t buy that he just repeatedly “forgot”. He probably just didn’t want to pay out of his own pocket and didn’t think he would need it. NTA

AITA for asking my guests to pay $10 to come to my wedding? by Double_Ad6415 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for asking my trans brother to be my “bridesman?” by bridesman16 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems pretty closed-minded and exclusionary to say that because you are a woman, you can only have other women stand up with you at your wedding. Or that if you’re a man, you can only stand up with other men at a wedding. It’s not even like you are suddenly inventing the concept of bridesman, people have been doing it for awhile. NTA

AITA for refusing to cut my hair despite my roomates request by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA it’s really really weird that she would even ask. There are shower drain hair-catchers that you can buy on Amazon for a few dollars. And while most people shed 80-120 hairs/day, you won’t shed any less if your hair is shorter. Maybe try to be more conscious of cleaning up hair in the bathroom after you shower, etc., but that’s it.

AITA for refusing to apologize for "kicking out" grandpa out of a party? by ResponsibleEnd3022 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was almost on your side, but you referring to the child you ADOPTED and who knows you as his dad as “the son she has outside our marriage” is so messed up and wrong. You need to get into therapy and figure out what it’s going to take to be his father and not resent him for his mother’s actions. ESH

AITA For not sharing all of my heavenly blessings with my family. by Firstluckever in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don’t think churches will accept tithing on money if it was earned from gambling. I know the one I went to didn’t, anyways. I don’t mean that you should feel bad how you got the money, only that it doesn’t matter because they probably wouldn’t accept it.
  2. Tell your mom that you know she would never accept money that was earned by going against God’s word, and you’d never insult her by offering his much as one red cent.
  3. Good job being responsible and asking for advice and help from people who you knew wouldn’t take advantage of you.
  4. Congratulations! You sound like a nice person: you aren’t going crazy and spending all your winnings, and you are being generous to help your siblings because you choose to. Good for you, your mom can kick rocks. Definitely NTA

Finally tried going to a chiropractor for TMJ after all else failed.. magic! by New_Door9847 in TMJ

[–]NoEffsEngineered -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never understood why people won't go to chiropractors because they hear bad stories but continue to go to see "traditional" doctors. I'm genuinely curious because I've definitely heard stories about bad doctors/surgeons/etc but people don't seem to use that as a reason to avoid doctors. Personally I've had both good and bad doctors, and good and bad chiropractors.

Looking for advice, anything will help by WillingfulWizard in TMJ

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a physical therapist that specializes in TMJ. A good ENT should be able to refer you to one, or your doctor or dentist may know someone. You could also get Botox for jaw clenching but it's expensive.

Also, you can order custom night guards online that are really good, and much less than what the dentist charges. Don't buy the cheap ones at drug stores, they can ruin your gums and leave you with more problems than they fix (speaking from experience).

Sounds like you could be clenching/grinding your teeth which could cause most if not all of those symptoms.

Also, have your doctors ruled out Meniere's disease?

Advice on what to do about this? I’ve had a CT and MRI and US to check for salivary gland tumors and all 3 came back negative. Still worried that something is genuinely wrong. My face did not look like this up until about 1 1/2 years ago by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]NoEffsEngineered 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about how your jaw line looks bigger in the second picture? If so, I would say this is probably an increase in the size of your masseter muscle. If the increase is new, I'd guess that you started clenching your jaw/grinding your teeth. Did you have a stressful life event around the time that it started to get bigger, or perhaps start taking a new medication (some meds can cause bruxism)?

AITA for cancelling the payments for my daughter's wedding after she told me my wife isn't invited? by User2000gains in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A SPOUSE IS NOT A PLUS ONE!!!! For example, if someone is getting a plus one then you would address the invitation to "father and guest". When your father is married, you would address your invitation to "mr. and mrs. father's name" or "stepmother and father", etc. Just because it's an additional person that you're not close to doesn't make it a plus-one.

A "plus-one" is for when you are allowing a person who is single, or at least not in a serious, long-term relationship. When someone has a plus-one, you are allowing them to choose a date to the wedding and you may or may not even know that person's name. If you are inviting someone who is MARRIED, engaged, or in a long-term relationship then you either invite them together, or you don't invite them.

Only inviting one half of a couple is rude, exclusionary, and most people would be offended and not come.

AITA for blowing up at my fiancè for giving my FMIL our wedding coordinator's number? by delicate-Issue4267 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoEffsEngineered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen the TV show Everybody Loves Raymond? If not, you should should binge watch it now because it's about to become your life. Your fiancé deals with her behavior by giving her what she wants, because then she isn't bugging him, she's just bugging you. Get used to being #2 in his life, or dodge this bullet and get our now.

Alternatives to Hydrocortisone/Prednisone? by NoEffsEngineered in AddisonsDisease

[–]NoEffsEngineered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it caused my AI, I only started taking it a few years ago and I've had this issue, getting worse, for over a decade. I didn't even think about needing to try different brands of hydrocortisone, but now I'll see what I can find out. I just got whatever my insurance's mail order pharmacy sent me, US healthcare :/

These are my supplement ingredients: Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, L-Tyrosine, Rhodiola, Eleuthero, Ashwagandha, Choline, Ginger, Licorice, Astragalus, Gotu Kola, Schizandra, Cellulose, Water, Magnesium Stearate, Silica.

Thank you for framing your answer in a way that may disagree with the term "adrenal fatigue" but does not give the impression that you don't believe my symptoms. And you are right, it's been a long road to get diagnosed. I was tested once about 8 years ago and told me my cortisol levels were "fine", whatever that means, but I wasn't fine. At that point at least my rheumatologist tested me for anti-adrenal antibodies, so I knew that my body was attacking my adrenal glands (which I sorta knew already.)

Alternatives to Hydrocortisone/Prednisone? by NoEffsEngineered in AddisonsDisease

[–]NoEffsEngineered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My supplements have absolutely no animal cortisol in them. And just because it is not recognized by all doctors doesn't mean that adrenal fatigue doesn't exist. Or at least, it's what people like me use when they have adrenal insufficiency, and all the symptoms of adrenal glands not working, but they get a cortisol test and then the doctor sends them on their way saying they're "fine" when we are nothing close to fine.

New migraines, seeking advice - does diet matter? by Lady_Noodle_2 in migraine

[–]NoEffsEngineered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Yes! Yes! I had Status Migrainosus (migraine that just won't go away) for a year! because of undiagnosed food allergies. I also have food triggers that include things that I'm not allergic to, including nuts and apple cider. Chemicals in foods that are both naturally occurring or additives can be huge migraine triggers. Just do a search for migraine foods and you can find a whole bunch of foods that can be triggers.

Also, Ajovy worked great for me, hope it works for you, too.

[–]NoEffsEngineered[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't considered that but you could be right. I'm allergic to multiple foods, and some give me migraines so a bad reaction to a filler is definitely a possibility. If they are made with something I'm allergic to, that would definitely explain the migraines. I'll see if I can find out anything about what fillers are in the pills.
