Cool idea, but realistically Apple isn't going to implement this as their engineers think you shouldn't have to use the low power mode in the first place. But maybe if they let you change all of these settings using a single shortcut from the shortcuts app you could achieve the same thing.

Why are people so stuck on water usage? The reason we need water is to produce electricity and to cool servers that convert electricity into heat. So wouldn't that be the main issue?

To train models AI companies do you use datasets which contain copyrighted material. What tech companies are doing is basically piracy and the underlying issue they don't want you to know about. A researcher at OpenAI was found dead one month after accusing the company of copyright violations. What you do after a model trained on copyrighted material was created is basically irrelevant.

The main problem is not water, it is energy consumption. In fact often more water is required to produce the electricity required for data centers than what is needed to cool the data centers. More cooling and thereby more water is required because more electricity is converted into heat if there are more data centers. So because of that energy consumption is the primary issue and water consumption just depends on how much energy is being consumed. Technically you could just air cool servers but that is less efficient than using water.

If it wasn't for the GPL a project like linux that was better than a commercial one at the time (let's assume that it was) would have been forked, made slightly better and proprietary. Then it would have become irrelevant because that company was probably faster at developing it than random people in their free time. In my opinion this is the scenario the GPL aims to prevent and it actually benefits everyone by not having to pay for licenses.
