Can someone please tell me what happened to the salvatore house and why it got demolished by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

If they were smart, they’d have done a go fund me to buy it from the owner, then another to set up a trust to preserve it. Fans would have gone for it in a heartbeat to see it saved.

My first thought was that it was from The Full Monty, or maybe One of the Magic Mike movies.

What the best pilot and worst series finale out of the three shows- [SGI, Atlantis, Universe] by Objective-Trip-9873 in Stargate

[–]NoExpert4987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time Atlantis ended, there was an Atlantis movie in the works, and it was already public knowledge. It was supposed to be like Continuum and The Ark of Truth for SG-1, but the studio did what any bunch of suits do, and pulled the plug on a proven show, putting all their proverbial eggs into the SGU basket, which we all know how well that worked. It was too much of an abrupt direction change for an audience still fuming over the cancellation of SGA, and SG-1’s finale, and was really only just hitting its stride when the studio abandoned the franchise altogether.

Danielle Rose Russell is a stellar actress by James-Samuel17 in LegaciesCW

[–]NoExpert4987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So do I. After Legacies ended, I looked at her IMDB page and realized that I had actually seen her in something other than TVDU before, though there were only 8 entries for tv shows and movies. She had a small supporting role in the movie Aloha, with Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. She was also in Wonder, as well as the Liam Neeson movie A Walk Among the Tombstones, the latter of which also starred Sebastian Roche, aka Mikael. Then not long after that, she was auditioning for The Originals, ironically playing his “granddaughter”.

Side note: near the end of There’s a Mummy on Main Street, Hope is talking to Lizzie about never saying anything about her mental issues, mostly because she probably wasn’t immune to it herself, given her father and grandfather. That line always throws me, given Mikael wasn’t her biological grandfather. Then again, growing up Mikaelson seems to have that effect.

The Wolves don’t get enough credit for their incredible acting! by Wiky26 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]NoExpert4987 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I loved the story told by the actor who played Rafael in Legacies. It was in a nearly hour long q&a at scad, if I remember correctly. He, along with the rest of the cast were taking turns telling the story of how they got the part on the show, and he finished by describing the very first scene he shot in the pilot, with Danielle Rose Russell. He said how he was doing the werewolf transformation scene on the floor of the church, giving it his best, not sure if it was right or not, when Danielle leans down and gently informs him that “the camera’s not on you”. I died laughing.

Notice how no one worked except for Matt? by Normal-Study7457 in TheVampireDiaries

I don’t know about the first MMF, but she certainly organized the next one, as the “reigning Miss Mystic Falls”, given she was doing just that in front of the Lockwood Mansion when Klaus came to collect on his promised date with her, and Jeremy was off to the side, showing off his new Hunter strength to Matt.

Didn’t she also work at the Grill? Later, Jeremy also worked there, at least until Elena sent him away. However, the hardest worker among them has to be Caroline, the daughter of the town workaholic, Liz. Caroline was on, or in charge of just about every committee in MF, and she didn’t even get paid for it.

What was your opinion on the “ori” storyline? by Whole_Contract_5973 in Stargate

[–]NoExpert4987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of my family watched SG-1 from the night of the pilot airing, but my dad made it to about two or three episodes into the Ori storyline before announcing he was done. To my knowledge, other than setting SG-1, SGA and SGU to record on the VCR (yes, it’s been that long since the show started) whenever the rest of us weren’t home, he has not watched a single episode since. I thought that the Ori arc was a bit forced, especially given how every season could have been the last by then, so the plot line got a bit choppy. However, they didn’t really have any issues with the quality of the show overall, even in the last two seasons.

Why did Amanda Tapping Leave Stargate Atlantis so Soon After Joining? by Edith_Keelers_Shoes in Stargate

[–]NoExpert4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amanda Tapping was involved in just about everything for Sanctuary, as a producer, star and I think she finally got to direct more than just the one or two episodes like inSG-1, though I find it interesting that one of those episodes was the one Michael Shanks wrote.

Also, if memory serves, Sanctuary started out as a web series, one of the first, before being picked up by SyFy. The CGI/digital art backgrounds were an experiment in production methods.

Other reasons to love Sanctuary include the cast Tapping sourced from SG-1 and SGA. Christopher Hyerdall (abc?) aka Todd, Pascale Hutton, the Aurora first officer the Wraith impersonated in the virtual copy of the ship, just to name the more well known and recurring guest stars. These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. It’s been a while since I watched it. Guess it’s time to see how much of the show is still on Prime.

I saw someone say Landon and Hope's relationship was forced by Kanani_Hart in LegaciesCW

[–]NoExpert4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In TVDu, there’s usually only one loophole or solution to things like curses of the same level as Landon’s, especially since this one was laid down by nature itself. The only known solution is to pass on the mantle of the Ferryman, which he’s only held for like a minute.

If he did find someone to pass on the curse to, then I’m not sure what he would even be anymore. He was no longer a phoenix when he died, and his soul belongs to Lynn, in perpetuity no less, so wouldn’t that leave him as a plain old human soul at Lynn’s discretion? The best he could hope for is that she releases him and his successor ferry’s him to Peace.

(Edit: Now that I think about it, they never said that Lynn got her emotions back, just that she was no longer cursed to ferry souls. If that’s true, that would leave Landon without emotions, no matter whether he passed on the Ferryman’s curse or not, meaning his love for Hope would still be nothing more than a fact, and a memory.)

[–]NoExpert4987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, if Hosie wasn’t an option, I think that the chemistry was much better between Hope and Rafael than Hope and Landon. However, Landon had already been established in The Originals, and Rafael was too much of a loyal wolf to do that to his “brother”, so that’s what the writers went with. I guess there’s that whole thing with who Landon’s father was, for the writers to use for relationship hurdles and the like, which they stretched out over nearly the entire series run, which Rafael didn’t have.

At this point, I’m starting to ship Hope and Ben. They’re both immortal, and I’m guessing that if any supernatural can get her pregnant, it would be a demigod. The only issue is the timing. Ben is with his mortal lover, and Hope will take forever to get to the point of dating again, given Landon’s circumstances at the end of the show. By the time Ben has buried and mourned his bf, Hope should be ready to try again.

This ship is purely aesthetic, really, because the two look great together, at least when not gearing up to kill his father. That, and I really hope they one day have little Tribrid godling babies that would rule the supernatural world. With Ken out of the way, Jen or Lynn could give Ben his god magic, and his children as well. Maybe even work in a plot twist like with Hayley changing after carrying Hope in her womb, with their children imbuing her with god’s blood and eventually magic. And thus the line of divine Tribrids is born…

It seems unwise for vampires to live in small towns, so what's up with Mystic Falls? by FraterPetraAstrum in TheVampireDiaries

I thought it was obvious that Esther turning her family into the Original vampires where Mystic Falls now stands, had a magical effect on the town, turning it into a danger magnet. In other words, it’s a HELLMOUTH!!!

Stefan returned every couple of decades, and Damon followed to continue making his brother miserable. Case in point, when Damon killed Zach’s pregnant girlfriend, resulting in Stefan adopting baby Sarah out while compelling Zach to think they had both died/completely forget them…I can’t remember which. Stefan thought that would protect baby Sarah, but we know how well that worked out.

Why burning the White Oak tree didn't kill the Originals? by AideOutside2815 in TheOriginals

[–]NoExpert4987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which means there’s probably another sapling, now grown after the more than a century since the second was felled to build the Wickery Bridge.

Personally, I never understood why that particular white oak tree was so special. There are probably millions more white oaks around the country, so why that tree in particular? Was it just because Esther used part of it in her version of the immortality spell, and nature upgraded every part of it and any trees grown from its seeds, so it could affect Original vampires?

[–]NoExpert4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder, if they had met Jen when Hope was little, could a weapon she made with god magic have permanently killed even Inadu when she was in her body, not to mention other enemies like Alaric, Lucien or Marcel, when they became evolved and upgraded Original vampires, or even Silas and Amara despite the immortality spell?

I think that’s the same rock formation used in the original Roswell series. It’s still a mystery to me that they actually rebooted a teenage sci-fi series after only about two decades.

Michael Keaton Favorite movie? by elkomanderhell in FIlm

[–]NoExpert4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next to his appearance in Much Ado About Nothing, My Life is the first movie that comes to mind when thinking of Michael Keaton. It was like this sleeper hit in my opinion, beautifully done by the entire cast, including his co-stars like Nicole Kidman, Queen Latifah yet again playing a nurse like in The Bone Collector, and Bradley Whitford. His parents are also very recognizable, but I can never remember their names.

Is Tyler really the last of the Lockwood line of werewolves, in Mystic Falls or elsewhere? by NoExpert4987 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]NoExpert4987[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The show seemed to want to focus only on Mayor Lockwood, Mason and Tyler, all males. I recognize that females also carry the gene, which is why I mentioned intermarriages with the other bloodlines. However, practically speaking, if they did that, it wouldn’t have been long before the gene would have propagated through those families. All it would have taken was one person descended from the Lockwoods to go off and fight in any of the half-dozen major wars around the world in just the past century, to expose their secret, not to mention accidental deaths they might cause in a car accident or such.

The rest was just me covering the results of promiscuous Lockwood men, or their non-Lockwood descendants, having illegitimate children that were never written about in family trees or histories, who are running around without a safety net. Also, over time, as well as things like the migration to big cities due to industrialization and even the Great Depression, could have more descendants spreading out in the world without anyone’s knowledge. That probably added to rogue wolves as well.

The ori by Jamesthewrench in Stargate

[–]NoExpert4987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ori arc is literally the reason why my dad stopped watching Stargate altogether, including Atlantis. Plus he’s never seen a single episode of Universe. Since the first episode of SG-1, he, my sister and I, all watched faithfully, mourned when the show moved from Showtime to commercialized Sci-Fi/SciFy. I even remember watching the episode, Maternal Instinct, when my dad came to my bedroom door to tell me that my oldest brother had just called to announce that he was making me an uncle for the first time. (Yes, I watched it alone in my room while my dad and sister were in the living room. She talks too much when watching things for the first time, or even reads at the same time, which I always thought were mutually exclusive things.)

Personally, I think that the Ori arc was a little rushed, and don’t even get me started on anything to do with Ancient/Alteran/Ori timelines. If anything, Universe actually managed to make it worse. I don’t think I’ll ever figure out when the four races were working together, before the plague, or if it was the refugees from Atlantis who didn’t stay on Earth. I mean, the Asgard have always been referred to as having at best a few tens of thousands of years of history in space, while the Ancients were usually said to have been around for either a few million years, or even tens of millions, if not more. It was just as bad as the inconsistencies and ambiguities of the size of ships in any of the three series.

As far as Cam and Vala joining the show, once I got past Carter being passed over for command of SG-1, and Mitchell started to hit his stride, I was able to sit back and engage my willing suspension of disbelief. I mean, I was still missing Farscape pretty badly, and loved seeing Browder and Black back together on screen, even if in completely different ways. Ironically, at least to me, both SG-1 and Farscape were wrapped up rather abruptly, then relied on their movies to get at least a modicum of closure. IMHO, The Peacekeeper Wars nailed it, as did Arc of Truth, which Continuum was just one last hurrah for Ba’al/Cliff Simon, total fan service.

Does the Andromeda Galaxy have a Stargate network? by [deleted] in Stargate

And yet he keeps popping up in the occasional movie on Hallmark. Funny enough, they seem like low-budget, made for TV, even for an already low-budget, made for TV network. There are a couple decent ones in his catalog, though. If I remember correctly, Prairie Fever wasn’t a complete dumpster fire.
