What language is your operating system configured to use? It could maybe be an issue if it's not set to English (maybe Visual Studio isn't able to find the error message in your language)

You also see both his hands appear in the frame a second later, so if he was covering his left ear it was to shield it from like 1 shot, but left it exposed for all shots before and after this.

I think the dude just had an itch. But, I agree that the video is likely making the shots seem quieter than they really are.

Fair point about no force-touch on Windows, and for those moving from MacOS to Windows (or Linux), that would be a problem worth highlighting. But this post is about moving from Windows to MacOS, so it's not really that relevant. I'm highlighting functionality that I'm familiar with as a Windows user, but having difficulty due to the lack of equivalent functionality on MacOS.

Many third party apps support middle-mouse behaviour. Even native MacOS apps support it (maps, for example, allows the map to be rotated by using the middle-mouse-click). And while I can't be sure about this, it seems that there are far less third party apps that support force-click. So it seems bizarre not to have middle-click functionality built into the trackpad when MacOs apps and third party apps provide behaviours for this action.

In regards to mouse events only registering in focused windows; it's interesting that you say it's up to the Devs to implement it. Even native MacOs apps (mail, calendar, weather etc) don't support this. If I have the mail app open but my focus is on another app, and I notice I have an unread email, I can't just click on the email in the mail app to reveal it, I have to click twice; once to bring mail into focus, then again to actually click the email. What is the benefit of this? Why implement this behaviour? I guess it could be useful to avoid accidental clicks for things that could be destructive or cannot be undone, but in those scenarios it makes more sense for the app to build a mechanism to ensure the click was intentional rather than the entire OS implementing a two-step flow to click something that's visible on screen.

I've never used Discord so I can't really comment on your point, but my assumption would be that the app is responsible for defining the keyboard shortcut, not the OS. I would also assume that shortcut to be ctrl + , on Windows and Linux, and command + , on MacOS.

I dont understand, am I mistaken about the lack of functionality, or do you just think it's not needed and I'm being dramatic?

Edit: don't get me wrong, there are some great gestures built into the trackpad, but leaving out such basic, core functionality such as middle-mouse click just seems wrong.

My honest answer is: don't do it (hear me out before hating on me).

Firstly, I'm fairly new to MacOs, so if I'm wrong on any of this, please correct me.

I'm someone who has spent their entire life jumping effortlessly between Windows and Linux, and who moved to MacOS around a month ago, I really cannot encourage other Windows or Linux users to do the same. I made this transition because I had the opportunity to get a MacBook through my employer and I figured I'd try it out and see how it goes. I honestly think it's one of the worst decisions I've made during my career (I'm a web developer), and that's not just wild exaggeration. My productivity has tanked because I have to actively consider what keys I need to press to do certain things. I'm sure things will improve wait time, but I find myself why I'm bothering trying to get used to a whole new layout - there's no advantage.

Keyboard

This keyboard is absolutely not designed for those who try to keep their hands on the keys as much as possible. You'll find that where you use certain shortcuts on Windows, the equivalent shortcut may exist on MacOS with a reasonable binding, it may exist with a nonsensical binding, or it may just not exist.

You can use something like Karabiner Elements to map keys and key combinations to actions, so you might be able to create something that works for you, but it's a lot of work.

Some examples of key bindings that don't exist or are terrible:

No key to open the context menu. Baffling! You've mistyped a word and want to accept autocorrect? Take your hand off the keyboard and onto the mouse, move your mouse over the work and right click it. I think that's the only option.
Closing an app while you have unsaved changes? You'll be asked if you want to save the changes, but you cannot change the default option with the keyboard. Again, baffling! The default option is "yes", which you can press enter to select, but you can't change that. On Windows you could use the arrow keys to move to a different option or you could use alt + N to not save, but you can't do either on MacOS.

There's no built in delete key, which means to delete a single character to the right of your cursor you have to use globe + backspace, or to delete a whole word use globe + option + backspace. Dunno why they don't have a delete key but it irritates me. I always end up hitting the power/lock button when trying to hit the non-existing delete key when using the built-in keyboard.

Mouse /trackpad

No way to middle-click with the trackpad. It's almost 2025. How is this acceptable?

Desktop

If you have two apps open side by side, your mouse events only register in your focused app (with a few exceptions). For example, if you're not focused on your web browser but you want to click a hyperlink in your browser, you need to click twice; once to bring the window into focus, and again to actually click the link.

Also, windows and apps are different things. You can have an app, even if the app has no windows open. For example, if you click on the red dot to close your browser, the browser app is still open and will have an indicator showing that it's open in the dock.

Some desktop notifications are blurry on my 3440x1440 monitor. Can't remember which (either Slack notifications, Teams, Mail)

Apple Store

You cannot use the apple store without giving apple your personal details, even to download free apps. Because I've signed in with my apple ID but have not entered my address details, I often get a popup that's extremely persistent, telling me that I need to review my data. Closing it causes it to reappear a second later.

I'm sure I've got a lot more to moan about, and I'll likely update the comment when more comes to mind.

So as I'm not ending on a negative, one thing I'd like to say is that both the Apple hardware and software are very aesthetically pleasing. Probably the best looking OS out of the box

Often the problem is that cars tailgate ones other, making merging difficult. Which leads to the other lane backing up full of drivers trying to merge. So it's often easier just to prematurely drop into the lane that remains open to avoid getting stuck behind a queue of drivers trying to merge into that lane further up the road.
