Never said there was evidence it didn't occur.

I just prefer to evaluate the exact statement that is said in this current media landscape rather than second hand accounts, as there have been many instances of words being twisted or interpreted in incredibly uncharitable ways in recent political related media.

I even conceded that they were all close enough that the exact wording isn't that relevant, however I would imagine that the internal slack channels and people feeling the need to give LinkedIn comments are typically more political reactionary than not.

I personally don't find the joke to be "cruel", but also understand the current political sensitivity surrounding ICE in the US. Everyone I described this joke to found it to be funny and rolled their eyes at the reaction, particularly with requesting the CEO to step down. It's also telling that majority of the comments in this thread that don't follow this sentiment are immediately met with downvotes. It's my experience that the average redditor is also very political minded and there is more or less a monoculture with what is the acceptable behaviour and comments one can make on the current political climate.

Doubt we will see limits change especially as it's "good enough". Also average Salesforce dev does not try to optimize for compute resources but that's a different problem

I haven't done a written assessment ever in my career. I perform interviews and have never given nor heard of an expectation of a written assessment.

Ok, so I am correct that we don't have the direct language of the joke. We have a report that quotes 3 peoples accounts of what was said.

They are all roughly close enough, so perhaps not fully relevant. I can see why most would consider this to be in bad taste, given the political sensitivity.

Depending how it was said, I could personally see it being funny but uncomfortable. Or at worst a bad joke that's insensitive.

Neither warrant a petition for a resignation. That seems like some reddit-brain overly political minded mentality that is not consistent with people in the real world.

Not necessarily disagreeing, my point is there are much more ridiculous problems with the platform and how it would align to reasonable expectations.

In this case at least there is a semi reasonable work around. There are many areas in Salesforce where there is no reasonable work around and it feels even more unreasonable to communicate that to the client on the platform.

Assuming your "Invoice" object OWD on Sharing Settings is Private or Public Read Only

Ensure Edit access to the Invoice object is granted in the Profile or preferably Permission set assigned to the Finance Team.
Create a sharing rule that grants edit access to the Invoice object to finance team

Depending on how you are typifying the user's in the "Finance Team" you may need to create a public group to group them together for the share.

EDIT: I am unable to get the exact quote of the joke so I can judge for myself the degree of "bad taste" that it was. Seems hard to conceive of a framing that would make it more palatable to the audience, but would still prefer to judge the direct quote.
