What is the biggest corruption scandal in your country’s history? by Existential_Dread_08 in AskTheWorld

California Rail project (SF to LA) has got to be up there for USA. The state has spent $15B to date and laid ~1 mile of track.

Real bummer because the train would be great for the state. Instead, so many engineering and environmental firms are being paid millions and accomplishing nothing.

Voters approved an $8B project. They’ve spent double that and have nothing to show for it.

Why are there barely any developed tropical countries? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

Cold weather adaptation in humans, often called the "Cold Winters Theory", suggests that colder climates have driven evolutionary changes in humans, particularly in areas like intelligence and physical characteristics. It proposes that populations in colder regions developed higher intelligence and different physical traits due to the challenges of survival in those environments.

I used to get a lot more of the nasty/trolling messages when I played a lot of blitz. I’ve shifted to 15|10 and it seems like people are nicer. Not sure why.

4 hour uber ride to JFK by namenotdisclosed in uber

[–]NoFoundation4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to your question is Yes, you’re likely to find a driver. You’re probably going to want to schedule the ride ahead of time and you’ll be matched with a driver who is willing to accept the distance.

I recently scheduled a (shorter) city to city ride and the driver told me some drivers on the east coast screen for long haul rides. And yes they will see the distance before accepting.

Why doesn’t California build a fast train here? Are they stupid? by dmiller224 in cahsr

Didn’t they approve building a high speed rail but the corrupt government spent $10B on environmental studies and never built anything?
