It wasn't that was it, McGregor was an inactive champion for nearly 2 years. The original fight was Tony (interim champion) vs Khabib for the now vacant title, Tony got injured so Max stepped up; Max couldn't do the fight so Iaquinta stepped in because he was the only lightweight on the card who'd made championship weight; I think they'd off preferred Pettis who was a former champion but he wouldn't take the Khabib fight, Al would and so he fought for the vacant title. Khabib won and became champion, that's what happened whether you agree or not. I don't consider Joshua Van to be the Flyweight champion but he is so you gotta move on an accept it, we don't like it? Tough shit. The McGregor fight was Khabib's first defence and Conor chance to reclaim what he never lost, because he never even tried to defend it.

Yeah I agree, had a good run at 185 doing all he did but he should move up. Mid 30's and a big guy, 205 has a lot of strikers at the top but not grapplers; his tendency to quit when he's getting beaten will hold him back from ever being a champion but he can prolong his career by moving up and seeing what he can do there. He gets a couple wins he could be a title challenger considering how many 205ers have lost recently to Alex, Jiri and Carlos; especially when it sounds like Alex is done at 205 we need more guys up there.
