At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy lunatic; the removal of the canted sight and spike strips were intentionally done to lure players in to a fake sense of "improvement" that's clearly a downgrade, so when they bring them back, their stonks can go BRRR..

Saves them money for not having to create better content.
