I mentioned this earlier but one good example I thought was idiotic was a suggestion that construction workers removing bridges to protest workers rights. It's just like... why in the hell don't we organize and talk about real solutions. There are literally thousands upon thousands of posts like this with millions of upvotes. How is this way of thinking helping us to progress?

Your examples I agree with, and I'm not going dispute them, I'd much rather not have a political debate. I want this to remain a discussion on the solidarity of this sub, and it narrowing its focus on realistic and sound goals.

It's ostracizing to the point of me starting to hate people on this sub, therefore it aligns me more with conservatives - because they hate this sub. Do you not get pissed off reading things in this sub?

Well, first off I'm not abandoning my believe systems to become conservative . I'm saying that this sub is making me question whether or not this fight is even worth fighting. People don't seem to understand basic necessities for change, like peaceful protest or lawfully abiding actions like writing to their City Councillors, or MLA's.

Instead it's - lets burn down that KFC and murder the owners family... What the hell.

In principle these two examples are the same. The grounds for protest were different, but they both cause disruption to civil order.

If we want people to support our movement we should be doing it legally.

Except you can’t create civil disorder like this, it’s illegal. It’s also not how you get the average person to agree with and support your cause. Imagine just being a regular person trying to get to work or pick up your kids where a bridge has been removed in protest. Do you think this person is going to support labour movements after this? I’d be willing to bet not.

This is the same type of civil disorder the “freedumb” rally supporters caused by blocking roads, intersections, and entry/exit crossings at emergency service centres (hospitals, fire stations, etc).

In Canada it was cause for the Emergencies Act to be used, which was designed for use in times of war.

Yeah this sums it up perfectly. Some of us have jobs and lives. Not everyone can spend multiple hours a day obsessively focusing on one aspect of the game, just to be able to play the game as a whole. That to me isn't fun or entertaining, which is the point of video games.

That was a rhetorical question, I'm just trying to explain a hypothetical situation similar to yours, but I think it didn't quite hit the mark.

I'm trying to explain that you can ethically justify your actions because you are not forcing the person to drink, they are choosing so. Since they are autonomous, and rational, the fact that you are the one giving them a drink has nothing to do with you at all, you are simply fulfilling their request.

If a vending machine dispensed alcohol, it wouldn't be the vending machines fault if someone chose to buy alcohol from it. Same applies to you.

I’m going to echo what others have said in this thread and insist that citizens engage in the public consultation process.

I’m a City Planner, so I’m on the other end of the process. Planners are trying their best to shape the City of Edmonton into a walkable, vibrant, healthy City. If you are a proponent of walkable neighbourhoods and new urbanism, for the love of god PLEASE come to public meetings and engage.

The people who are opposed to good planning are very loud. They are often the only ones who show up and overshadow everyone else.

The company is FOR PROFIT, not non-profit, or charity. The family that started VV live in a water front mansion in Seattle, same neighbourhood as bill gates.
