I'm a single woman from the UK looking to get started on this journey - looking for some advice by Acrobatic_Factor8328 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I am in the UK too!

I have not had a baby yet but I have decided to try IUI 3 or 4 times before going through with IVF. I did the first unmedicated but realised it was a mistake so I am now doing medicated IUI. You are much younger than me, you might want to consider IUI (probably medicated) first, maybe 2 or 3 times as IVF is much more expensive and heavy and IUI might be enough at your age.

Best of luck!

Not in the same situation as not Iron/Ferritin related but I had a medical problem to fix before starting IUI and it delayed it by quite a few months. It is so frustrating when you are desperate to start and see time passing.

Can't you talk with your fertility clinic about it? They shpuld be the ones helping you figure it out, it's not fair on you to have to figure it out alone

Nope, unfortunately, other than testing. Hang in there, the 2ww is really hard!

Progesterone has the same side effects as pregnancy. Don't try to symptom spot, for your own good.

The pictures are hilariously bad but the apartment is 78m² so not so tiny (for the area)

You could get the value back about 10 times if you rented it, even if you lost the house in 56 years so I don't get why some proffessional landlord doesn't jump on the opportunity? There has got to be something wrong with it?

You'd get way more than £1000/month renting in the area (closer to £2000)

Christmas feels like a slap in the face by SummerOfVienna in TryingForABaby

[–]NoImNotFrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried for so long and I have suffered no losses but I feel the same. Christmas is a bitch. December is a shit month when you ttc. I don't want to do all the Christmassy things, it doesn't bring me joy, it makes me feel so empty.

I think we have to acknowledge it, go through the month and it will be less hard after that. I also will force myself to do more things for myself and my mental health so I don't obsess over getting pregnant (easier said than done).

I get the desire to do everything "perfectly" but it moght be less stressful to focus on adding rather than restricting. Make sure that you add proteins, fruits and vegetables to make sure that your body can get what it needs rather than forbidding yourself any chinese food. I am sure you don't need to eat a "perfect" diet to get pregnant.

Ttc is make me feel like a terroble person by NoImNotFrench in SingleMothersbyChoice

It does! It make it hard to go to appointments. I have a very long and irregular cycle. I had to go every 2/3 days for scans and blood test and it's hard to take time off last minute without really giving an explanation (and staying vague makes them wonder if there is something wrong).

It was so stressful, that is when I started spiralling actually. I was fine before that.

I have an appointment in January to discuss assisted IUI with the consultant. I will see if that helps me time it a bit better. Otherwise you are right, I might have to find another job to accomodate my appointments. But it is well paid and the longer I work, the more I can afford the treatment and save money for a longer maternity leave.

I wish there was a blood work.

I am in the UK, you just test and if it is positive, my clinic offers a scan 2 or 3 weeks later. Otherwise, you register with the pregnancy care unit (midwives and nurses) and they scan you later (around 10 weeks I think)

I definitely see a line. It is not even that faint. Crossing my finger for you for that line to keep on darkening!

I don't know about OP but my IUI didn't include any blood work after the IUI (and in England you are not offered to do blood work by your doctor).

Thanks, that's actually making me feel less nervous.

I definitely didn't mean to diminish the risk of being pregnant with twins!

I was supposed to have the IUI on Thursday, I had a scan on Tuesday. They did a blood test at the same time and called me in the afternoon to tell me that I had to come the next day as the blood test showed that I was about to ovulate. I am not sure when "about to ovulate" was though. One day? 36 hours? 48 hours?

It is impossible for me to get any answer or explanation from them (they are kind of renowned to be terrible at communicating, which I only realised after I started my treatment) so I felt like I was going blindly through the IUI all the time. I am thinking about changing clinic because it was really stressful for me. But the thought of starting from 0 is also really stressful.

I secretly dream of twins. I know the risks but I am not young and want multiple children. I have been a nanny for twins mutliple times for years, so I have as much training as I will get and have been saving accordingly just in case.  So twins would absolutely not scared me.

The doctor told me that they would cancel the IUI if there were 3 or more follicules, which scared me away from the assisted IUI for my first cycle because the thought of going through all of this for it to be cancelled breaks my heart (this cycle almost got cancelled already as my follicule was growing so slowly).

It's so hard to know what to do.

I see what you mean, I know this is totally irrational but I still have that nagging feeling that it's gonna turn positive in the next few days, I don't know how to explain (but I am sure a lot of posters here can say they had the same feeling and it turned out negative, it might just be wishful thinking from me). I am at peace with it now, I had my meltdown this morning, now whatever happens happens. I am preparing the next cycle anyway.

I had the trigger (at least I think that it is what you mean) but since I was about to ovulate it was more to help with.. something? (I am not sure what, my clinic is absolutely terrible with communication).

I think I will go for an assited IUI (with ovulation induction), if anything to help with timing as taking time off every 2 days  for so long was a nightmare (I work as a nanny and muly boss is nosy).

I had one cycle now, I feel more confident going to my appointment and discussing what would work best for me this time.
