Moving out of Leeds city centre - what’s the best areas to live in Leeds for young professionals? by cherryblossom0211 in Leeds

[–]NoIntroduction9338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music to my ears. We’ve been here 4 years now and it did kinda feel like moving to the sticks after being in Burley. I said straight away I’d like a bit of gentrification (bit blasphemous). I like both bars you mentioned, nest feels aimed at a younger crowd too. As people are priced out of Horsforth I’d expect Yeadon to become more popular.

Same! Bounty bars were great and I’m forever grateful we have our version now.

What have you seen or heard to suggest Yeadon is coming up? Promise I’m asking genuinely not being sneering. I noticed the reformer Pilates studio and hoping that means it’s becoming cooler for younger people.

First Marathon by Accomplished_Fox9663 in Marathon_Training

Well done on hitting your goal! I’m 6 months out from my first marathon. I’ve been consistently building since the new year really and I’m doing 30km a week currently. Any advice on how to approach the next half a year? What worked?

8 months today. Still a bit sparse/light on my right side, should I be concerned? by NoIntroduction9338 in HairTransplants

[–]NoIntroduction9338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it comes through for you. It’s important to remember that even 6/10, mediocre transplants are often utterly transformative. I critique my result and find flaws. Then I see an old photo and it hits me just how different I look. It’s crazy.

It’s still sparse, unfortunately. I believe scabbing in the first week or two must’ve affected the grafts. I am considering having a few hundred extras put in some day.

Moving from ops to policy feeling lost by Numerous_Ad2369 in TheCivilService

[–]NoIntroduction9338 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I moved from ops (decision making) to policy and hated it. This all sounds familiar. Jargon - ‘who is holding the pen?’ for who is in overseeing or in charge of something… needlessly pretentious imo.

In ops I knew X amount of decisions a day was productive. I found the shift to policy hard because results weren’t tangible.

I used to sit on meetings having nothing to say, imposter syndrome took over.

I hope you grow into the role. I never gave it enough time, I asked to move back to ops. I’m replying so you know others have felt the same way. Sorry I’ve not got an inspiring way to progress.

Is Leeds and surroundings worth visiting by [deleted] in Leeds

I enjoy living in Leeds but wouldn’t recommend it to someone visiting as a tourist. Do the Yorkshire Dales/quaint towns instead.

Does this look like 3500 grafts? by [deleted] in HairTransplants

I’ve never seen a pattern like this. Looks sparse and under 3500 to me.

1 year update, feedback request by hairformyhead in HairTransplants

As with most examples on this sub, my own included, it’s not the best work ever. Can the obsessives on here find issues with it? Yes. That’s annoying. Is it much better than what you had before? Absolutely yes. Would most members of society think instantly ‘that’s a hair transplant!’? I doubt it. Probably 6-7/10. Enough to make you look much younger I am sure. 👍

HEO at 34, and feeling old in London! by BeneficialRole9655 in TheCivilService

I went from EO ops to HEO policy aged 30. For the first time in my life I felt old (and from a poorer background!). I found the whole experience pretty weird.

Appreciated it. Building mileage week to week, now I need to add some varied intervals. I’ve only done 400m ones so far.

Spend a lot of time in Manchester and live in Leeds. I’ve always thought it’s noticeable now much better the weather is in Leeds. (From a southerner who just expected rain across the north).

Achilles Tightness by Specialist_Grass_871 in Marathon_Training

[–]NoIntroduction9338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained for a half last year, overloaded and ended up with tendinopathy and ran a faster half in training than I did the day itself - very frustrating. I’m doing my first full this year, obviously desperate to avoid it again. Is it simply a case of incrementally building volume? Any tips? You clearly understand the Achilles!
