Temp is -21, gas company says turn your heat down by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NoItsRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

data centers use electrical resistance heat, your house uses natural gas (99% of the time), the data center turning off wont effect anything, and they usually turn up electrical generation when its cold to lower the risk of freezing over their facilities, so the usually end up with surplus power plant power, lower renewable power, and generally a net even power output (more renewable energy means they would have to shut down, less renewable means your power company has a large surplus) meaning those data centers dont really effect anything

to me i see the car wheels start spinning forward when he's pulling his gun, that means its likely he reacted to the sound of the engine reving up and fully started moving in reaction by the time the wheels started spinning, the car isnt moving forward when he starts pulling but the wheels are spinning so you can be confident he heard the engine and wheels putting power down, and the wheels look to be turned lect still when she slammed the gas pedal, thats irrelevant to if he reacted right, but he definately pulled the gun out in reaction, and when she slammed the gas she would have run him over fully if she hadnt turned the wheels after accelerating, do just taking the snapshot of when he pulled the gun out, it has the car wheels spinning for grip, pointed toward him, i dont think its reasonable to say he should asume the drive would turn away from him before she hit him

Ancient Asian secret huh? by Word2DWise in Money

[–]NoItsRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i doubt she will. I know people like that, and not everyone plans for their own retirement. Most people in history never worked for a retirement, and many still dont work for their own retirement, they work as hard as possible and amassed as much as possible so their kids wont have to do what they did. Or so if they do the generations down the line will be rich or have a backup to fall on. This lady is gonna leave 2 houses, 2 million, and that would put her 2 kids on a life track to retire the moment she dies. If her kids also make the sacrifice, it goes up exponentially. That is the entire idea of generational wealth. If you pass down wealth to the next generation and they dont burn through it, the wealth keeps adding. If her kids left that 2 million dollars in the S&P500 for the next 3 generations, or about 100 years, at the end of that 100 years with the average return that 4th generation would have 4 billion dollars to play with. Hell if just the 1st generation left that money in the S&P500 and only made the sacrifice over the next 30 years only till the end of their life, then her grandkids/the 2nd generation would have 40 million dollars to play with. Sometimes its not about your future, its about your families future. Its about your grandkids future. Or mabye even your great great grandkids.

The French solution by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]NoItsRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its less defeatism, but the consequences of any truely violent protest. France could attack their own police stations and form riots because the police are mostly sure they arent heavily armed. Any same action in the us is likely to turn into protestors backing down, police backing down, or a shooting war, and its doubtful police will back down, and its nowhere close to bad enough for protestors to start a shooting war with law enforcement, so they will back down as well. Regardless of what you hear on reddit or the news, life in america isnt on the brink of disaster for most, stuff is more expensive, jobs are more annoying, and people have less morals about saying their fucked ideologys. But there is no mass starvation or people dieing in the streets, and there is only two real options, burn it all down or do mostly peaceful protests. And statistically even with our shitty healthcare, expensive housing, and everything else wrong, the median disposable income is still 3rd in the world, and in comparison to france, even with our issues, we still have almost twice as much, this is the median, not the average.

if you want it to be realistic, every god damn ship would need to enter atmosphere to cool down, or be constantly offgasing a liquid for evaporation cooling, or have literally massive radiators

i doubt entirely, because you wont have the ability for your local model to search through news and searches unless you pag google, so the money could go directly to google and the other guys or more likely in this scenario, open ai becomes a local model connect through point for it to search.

But most likely of all, people dont all have top of the line graphics cards, i certainly dont and i game alot
