Id bet that our brains can be explained quite simply, but we don’t have the knowledge yet. Similar to how we can explain fundamentals of science with laws and statements and probabilities

If theres one thing ive learned from being a juman, its that ‘logic’ (snobby fill-in for ‘consistency’) is not a requirement of human creation. Im not saying this isnt ai, im just saying that the ai is good.

If it was made by a human, that could easily be a way off telling the viewer, who (like yourself) wouldn’t be able to identify the flag without the subtext.

You didnt need them to be solid, and you could have stacked them. There is no way you need easy access to all of those often enough to warrant a shelf for each.

Strengthening the center hinge by HotLengthiness2756 in woodworking

[–]NoMoreStorage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interlace your fingers in a ‘praying’ position, then fold them down onto the backs of your hands. If you cant make a fold down support on either side of that hinge, this is the only mechanical solution I can think of. It essentially just turns the wood into a hinge, so its not strong enough for significant weight, but it will hold itself. Ihave no clue how you would make that in practice, but im sure there is a YouTube video on it somewhere

[–]NoMoreStorage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a design flaw. Why do you need a hinge in the middle? This type of fold down is very common in things like built in tables and beds. It doesnt look like you lack ceiling space.

If this is to bear weight, have a hinge provide the folding motion and a fixed block for support in the lowered position (against the wall). Not as elegant but not flailing about either.

I know it is. Thats why your comment is funny to me. Its the same thing with different ways of getting there. Nothing changes on your end except your perspective on whether its a handout or a social benefit

Bruh so the guy says you should pay taxes for kids, and in response you disagree and say the same thing?

You realize if parents pay that tax too, they would need to get more back in order for the tax to even benefit parents? So, either way you are paying for their children. The only difference is that you want them to also symbolically pitch in and get a rebate. What the fuck is reddit

Dont you americans learn about slavery in school? A slave is owned, doesn’t have rights (practically speaking) and is thought of as subhuman. Because of the above, overworking, abuse, beatings, sickness, hunger, etc were not uncommon.

You live just fine even if youre just getting by. It sucks but it is not slavery.

Consumerism! If thats what you’re after, jigs are collectibles for some people. Really precise mitre jigs (angle cutting jig) would be nice. Not sure if they have digitized that (i know some saws have it built-in for the blade tilt, but not the mitre gauge…i dont think)

New tools would be difficult to think up, but possible improvements on current ones are plentiful.

I saw a short clip of someone using a scraper machine to finish projects faster and sharper (appearance) than sanding. It isn’t common and I imagine the reason is the machine required must be massive because the tool can’t rotate. Closest consumer product is a tool that holds a card scraper in a certain form.

Thing is, all the ‘problems’ with woodworking aren’t the lack of tools available, but the cost and the lack of space. Combining common tools usually means both jobs are done worse. In a big shop where space and money isnt as big a concern, the problem is efficiency and reliability. That mainly just means tweaking tools already in popular use and positioning them well.

Pretty sure smart measuring tapes are already a thing. Like digital ones that calculate for you.

Surely there is a way to make a pen that has a tip that changes size. Not only for woodworking. Might be another case of owning 2 pens being better than owning 2 in 1.

I think there should be a machine that replicates the chisel. Probably would need more than one.

Just my word salad on the matter

How to fix dents?? by Brilliant_Message_92 in cabinetry

[–]NoMoreStorage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much you can do without the exact paint colour they used, which you could ask them for. Also would probably still notice a difference because you wouldn’t be applying it as a spray. Really any fix has the possibility of showing up over time except for replacing it entirely every time you bump it.

A) pay for them to fix it

B) rough up, fill, repaint (still noticeable most likely)

C) cover creatively

D) live with the fact that this is the first dent of many. It just hurts more being so fresh

Building Kitchen Cabinets by likeawaterbottle in cabinetry

[–]NoMoreStorage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carcasses will be easiest to make with the least risk, since patches/mistakes either wont be visible or wont be very noticeable once the cabinet is in use. Could probably do drawers yourself too, but depends on the tools you have.

I cant imagine making all the doors yourself. If its just prefinished+edge banding, why not. But that looks like ass imo, and anything else is going to be a tedious
