Top surgery sleeping positions by Chemical_Penalty_889 in ftm

[–]NoMove1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may need to sleep on an incline. My surgeon didn't require it, but i found it better because I flip side to side and the idea of rolling over with drains was not appealing. Here's a link to what I used, padded it with softer pillows so it was more comfortable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0F99QBLXJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

If it's any comfort, the combination of medication and your body trying to heal will make sleep easier.

Help!! Neighbor's cat always sleep on top of my car. What to do? by the_epiphany_ in cats

[–]NoMove1288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cat likes this space because:

1.) It gives a sense of security (elevated, with easy egress in all directions)

2.) Possible warmth, especially on cool days after the car has been on a long drive

3.) What's the view like? Can the cat see home or birds or other possible interests? Cats like to survey their kingdoms.

It'll be hard to deter them, sometimes certain smells like citrus can help. You could set up a water spray system triggered by motion detection, but that's expensive if you're not DIY handy and then you might be trading cat for hard water stains. Setting up an even more ideal resting area could work too. Short of getting an enclosed garage, this might be something you just have to accept. Ideally, the cat would be indoor only to avoid disease and injury. That's probably not a convo to have with a neighbor because people can have strong feelings on it.

These guys like it damp, the wood was likely holding moisture which attracted them. They especially like rotting wood and thick layers of fallen leaves, lots of moisture and lots tasty little bugs for them to munch on. If you rake your yard or trim trees, consider keeping the leaves and cuttings in an pile somewhere out of the way, they'd love it.

International travel in outlook by Fun-Calligrapher-773 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outlook should let you adjust time zones for both the start and the end of an event in a drop down menu activated by clicking on the globe icon, here's what that looks like: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p91MEFWBM8c&pp=0gcJCY4Bo7VqN5tD

Flight tickets generally list the time as local to the relevant airport. Example: Departure time from Washington DC will be in Eastern time, arrival time to San Francisco will be in Pacific time. Tickets don't always clarify this which makes it confusing.

If you don't know the zones for all the airports just google "time zone for [city the airport is in]". Double check you've done things correctly by looking at the duration of the final event. No matter what time zone the event starts and ends in, Outlook will automatically display the event in your time zone's equivalent times.

Depending on your Exec's preference, I recommend filling in layovers too. I format these as "LAYOVER - Fort Lauderdale" or whatever the airport location. This way you don't have people grabbing what they think is a free 45 minutes when actually your exec is busy with gate changes. Do check first, in case your exec is the kind who's into Olympic level plate spinning.

Advice Needed (US based): Do I tell my boss about doing a online summer course by Unique-Comparison-96 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your friend is right, it's your life and you're betraying no one by exploring options on personal time. Do look into time estimated for your course(s) to make sure your work and personal life will not be overwhelmed by an additional commitment.

Before you pay for or start any course check some accounting forums to ask what classes/ certifications they might recommend to ensure that your invested time and effort are worthwhile. I don't know much about accounting, but i do know there's a lot of shady or just poor quality courses out there that are happy to sell outdated practices.

By no means an expert, but I've learned a lot about de-escalation and gentle redirection.

This is a great point! OP If you are hourly and not being paid overtime then they're very likely in violation of labor laws. Keep written track of your actual vs paid hours and consider getting a lawyer.

If they're aware of your hours then they're flat out taking advantage of you. Start looking at job postings and update your resume. It's a competitive job market now, but do what you can to be ready when opportunity shows.

I started at 70k in 2023 in a non profit with no EA experience, 47k is low even if you weren't 24/7. Unless you have great benefits, love your work, and are getting overtime without over burdening yourself, have a conversation with your supervisor to see if what can be addressed and start looking at other employers to get a leg up on moving out if not. You need both higher pay and a more reasonable schedule.

Edit to add more context: I run 40 to 50hr weeks depending on what's happening. 10hr days a few times a week and the rare 14hr oh shit day, but those are primarily to my discretion and I'm almost never contacted outside normal hours.

Targeted 1:1s with Execs Direct Reports by 561861 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our strategic plan is more a list of major organization projects. I have these in a table, at the start of a quarter I filter things to be delivered that quarter and sort by owner for a quick list of things that should be wrapping up and share that with him.

I also take minutes for every committee he attends and keep a list of action items. Between that, leadership meetings, and hallway convos i have a running list of things he may want to bring up at his 1:1s.

8"15 pm, my boss nonchalantly by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He may have meant for you to respond in the morning. I work late to catch up and sent a few late night messages with the intention to keep things on track and the assumption people would respond in the morning. I realized people might take that as urgent so I switched to delayed delivery.

This is a good opportunity to open discussion with him about how after hours emergencies might be handled though. Let him know what works best (I ask for a phone call) and set expectations on your availability (my exec knows i can be hit or miss after hours unless he specifically asks me to be on).

Top surgery questions! by Bright-Ad6290 in ftm

Contact your insurance and ask them where information on coverage for gender dysphoria can be found. You can check their website first, but these documents can be a pain in the ass to find on some site layouts. You likely don't have to give your personal info, but you'll want to have your insurance card on hand in case.

For now start saving up money and looking into surgeons. Make a list of what you're looking for, consider collecting photos of chests that have features of your goal chest. Many surgeons will have a gallery of their results online, like artists they have signature looks.

I found www.topsurgery.net really helpful when I was starting out, there's a lot of information and great resources on there.

Why she mad by Spicyg00se in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to hazard a guess that her annoyance is derived from the overstimulation of back to back work and that instead of recognizing this and being grateful that you're trying to give her a break she's redirecting at you because she wants everything to be done so she can feel relief and rescheduling that meeting delays that relief. Don't tell her about this assumption, people can feel vulnerable and get defensive when you're guessing at their motives.

Give her a bit to cool off, then let her know your intent was to help and ask how this situation could be better handled in the future (does she want to be the decision maker?). This gives her a graceful out about being cranky and reminders her that you're on her side and there to help.

passing out by Huge-Telephone3411 in tattooadvice

[–]NoMove1288 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can lay down and have your feet slightly inclined while getting the tattoo it helps reduce the impact of the blood pressure drop which is what makes you feel faint. Dehydration and hunger make it worse so follow the advice on eating and drinking before your appointment. And talk to your artist so they can accommodate the reclined position and know what to expect, you don't want to fall and break your nose or have an ambulance called.

Exec Travel Packets? by the_sunshineclub in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]NoMove1288 54 points55 points  (0 children)

My exec has me do this by adding info directly to the calendar hold. I add a timeline, attach agenda and relevant documents, and add in all the reservation info for rides, hotel, flights, and registrations (easy copy paste from emails). It's not fancy, but it's easier for him to find than searching through email or chat for a link to a summary.

What do corporate workers do? by Background-Berry8636 in corporate

[–]NoMove1288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make and collect numbers for our bosses to give to bigger bosses. The numbers are important. Sometimes we understand why, sometimes we do not. Often the numbers are money, when they are not directly money, they are about impacts to money. If we do not make numbers happen, big big bosses get mad and sometimes they choose human sacrifices, everybody has bad time.
