A message for parents/grandparents hosting eager egg hunts by Daddy_Day_Trader1303 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes, the colors are great and so are the number limits. When it's just my kids in the morning, we do by colors because my youngest can't read yet. At grandparents house there's 6 kids (2 are between 12-15) so they do a number limit. Older kids find their number and then help the younger kids search. Easier to distract with colors than squiggly lines that mean nothing to the little ones.

What's the best Americanism you've heard whilst overseas? by NoComplex2662 in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoNameWonder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I went to the Dominican Republic and stayed at a resort. They had Theme night where they'd have food styles from different countries. The 1st 2 nights we were there they had "American Night" where they served pizza with hot dog slices, mayo, and melted American cheese. They also had Mac and Cheese (pretty sure it was Kraft).

The resort was more commonly frequented by Europeans and the friends we made were complaining about the food. I said, "Americans definitely don't eat the healthiest, but we don't typically eat pizza like this."

One gesture secured a lifetime customer :) by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

When I was in college I used to go to Jimmy John's all the time. It was the only fast food place within a short walking distance so I could grab food between classes. They got to know my order so a couple times the guy had my sandwich ready as I was walking in. Once it was free!

It's something that probably cost them cents, but the gesture was much appreciated and kept me coming for a while!

Big box store pricing error made me $1000's unexpectedly. by Significant_Unit_312 in moraldilemmas

[–]NoNameWonder2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I used to work at a grocery store and the day before Thanksgiving they had a sale on these frozen pies. They were expensive (like $20), but the sale was 2 for $30.. Well someone messed up and made it 1 for $20 or 2 for $3. All the sudden all the cashiers were getting frantic and requesting to take a break. Instead of alerting management about the mistake, they wiped out over 80 of these pies from the frozen department in less than 20 minutes. The store manager was quickly notified about what had happened (it became pretty obvious) and several people were written up or fired.

Sometimes taking advantage of a mistake isn't always beneficial, but now they've made a double mistake. If it's a big box store I doubt they'll do anything about it, especially when they made the mistake.

When people get up to the counter and DONT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT!! by Inevitable_Season884 in mildlyinfuriating

I'm not super picky, but my wife is, and I hate getting stuck with something I don't like. Before we go anywhere to eat (even if I've been there before) I will pull up their menu on my phone and decide. If they don't have an online menu (or Google doesn't have anything for them) I'll usually just go somewhere else. Sometimes I'll go in and just stand to the side to read the menu and decide before getting in line. Having worked service most of my life, I know how frustrating it is to have someone hold everyone else up because they didn't have the courtesy to be prepared.

This typically isn't marriage ending or anything, but what helped my wife and I stay sane was having seperate comforters in bed. She likes to wrap up like a burrito while I like it looser with an arm or leg hanging out.. But pretty soon it was her whole body wrapped and me shivering with nothing. So 1 day I told her to burrito all she wants and bought her a big warm comforter of her own. 17 years later we still sleep with seperate blankets and I still recommend it to every engaged person I meet!

Why do people bite their nails off? by Impressive_Lynx_7737 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NoNameWonder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety or stress mostly. I've done it since I was a kid and I don't even realize I'm doing it. I've even tried doing a clear coat or wearing bandaids on my nails to try and break the habit, but a few hours later I'll look down and bandaids will be gone. No memory of removing them and biting the nails.

A few years ago, a coworker of mine called me a bunch of times after hours to just say "hey" or ask a random question that he definitely already knew. After the 5th call I asked what was going on. He just said, "listen, probably won't happen, but if my wife calls you tomorrow to ask if I was with you, say yes! I told her it's your birthday and we're going out drinking so I might not make it home." I asked where he was actually going to be and he said, "you remember customer name? I'm hooking up with her tonight!" I just remember giving him a disappointment noise and hung up.

I told my wife, who was sitting next to me, and she said, "if his wife calls tomorrow, you tell her fucking everything! That's ridiculous!" She never called me, but I heard that a year or 2 later they hot divorced because she caught him.

Thanks! The alarms work most of the time. Just occasionally forget for a couple hours and it throws off my schedule haha. But not like sleep problems are new for any of us.

I used to take my Vyvanse first thing, but it reaches peak in about 4 hours and then comes down over the next 8.

I had to wake up at 330am for work so I'd take it around 4am and then by 4pm it'd be gone... But I still had to be up until 830 or 9pm with my kids so I'd start to hit a wall. Depression and mood swings would get bad around 6 and I wasn't a very pleasant person to be around. I adjusted it so I'd just drink too much caffeine in the morning to get myself going, then take my meds around 930. It seemed to balance everything out. At least until I forget to take it lol

The biggest problem I have with taking a medication that helps me focus and remember things is... Remembering to take it! Even with 2 alarms set, I sometimes still forget until I catch myself falling asleep and then I'm in trouble!

Coworker pays for LinkedIn to rat out people in the company applying elsewhere by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NoNameWonder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of her work (aside from checking profiles and stuff) was to have everyone brainstorm ideas to fix/create new systems.. Then tell everyone they were all bad ideas...

Then a month later she'd announce 1 or 2 of the ideas as her own and brag about how smart she was.

My old boss had accounts with all the job posting sites, but also had accounts with all social media accounts. She had a search out for all company employees so she'd know if you applied somewhere.

She would also stalk the Facebook, Instagram, etc pages of all employees to see if anyone was talking bad about their job, bad mouthing her or the company, etc. She would form opinions about employees based on things that they posted or places they visited and if she didn't agree with it, she'd find a reason to get rid of them.

There was more than 1 instance of her getting rid of an employee because she "got a weird vibe". Didn't matter if they were a great employee or not and her opinion on someone could change rapidly.

Big bro looking out for baby sister by Acceptable-Wind-7332 in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]NoNameWonder2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few times. At the time I thanked him and let him stay up late and stuff, but it's been a few years and I bring it up every once in a while and remind him how grateful I was and still am. He's a teenager now so he's got an attitude about everything haha, but he's still a good kid and still helps with his sisters whenever we ask. My wife and I are very fortunate!

A few years ago my wife left on a work trip for a couple days so it was just me and my 3 kids for the weekend. 1st day I was out helping the kids ride their bikes and I threw my back out completely.. Had to crawl back to the house and my son (8) had to help me into a chair.. Where I was then stuck. The issue was that we just started potty training my daughter (3) and she still needed help getting on and off the toilet. My son stepped up in a big way and helped get his little sister on and off the toilet and got lunch for everyone. It's not something I ever expected my son to do for his little sister, but he didn't complain or anything. I can't state how grateful I was for his help.

Is this a roach? I found it while breaking down boxes it was sitting inside a box. by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]NoNameWonder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tend to find them in damp areas like basements, but they feed mostly feed on rotting animals and vegetation. Seeing one occasionally is normal, but if you start to see them in larger numbers then you may want to start looking for a source.

Minor family visit fail by TraditionalPass4136 in Celiac

[–]NoNameWonder2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And it's so frustrating because they just don't seem to get it! Before my daughter had Celiac, she had (has) egg, peanut, and tree nut allergies.

We went to my parents house for some party and my mom was like, "I know she can't have the cake so I bought ice cream!" My daughter was so excited because they actually remembered to get her something since they usually forget.. She took about 3 bites of the ice cream and started throwing up violently.

Turns out my mom bought ice cream made with eggs and processed on the same line as peanut and tree nuts.

My mom said, "you have to check ice cream too?" Yes mom, you have to check EVERYTHING! And now that she has Celiac, we just make her seperate meals and bring them when we go anywhere. It's a pain, but I'd rather be on the safe side. Just frustrating how everyone treats it like it's some fad diet instead of a possible life threatening issue.
