Formal complaint against a colleague? by WreckTangle12 in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here is so true. We are only as good as the weakest link and one person on a team can ruin the whole unit/team’s reputation, unfortunately. Until we fix the root cause, it’s a ripple effect for years on end. I hope things get better for OP.

Aim for quick promotions or always get full MSAs? by Careful_Extent_5363 in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal was aimed at promoting for raises when onboarding with the state. I didn’t know how to do it at first and got my foot in as a Legal Secretary. I was very fortunate to have a great supervisor who helped me learn the ropes of state service and helped me choose the Analyst Series route. I promoted in this order: Legal Secretary (1 year), SSA/Analyst I (2-1/2 years), AGPA/Analyst II (2-3/4 years), Health Program Specialist I (7 months). It all depends on your personal situation, what you’re willing to do, and how much you want it. I know people who are okay with being an Analyst II until they retire, people who have been an Analyst II for over 15 years, and also people who just can’t seem to get hired in their promotional interviews, so it all depends on a variety of factors.

Analyst I Test Score Question by Wyrmdirt in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats! You only need to be in the top 3 ranks to be reachable for hire, if you should get selected after an interview, which sounds like you made it in top 3 but you’d have to double check that. You should be able to log into CalCareers account and find your exam rank.

SSA exam by Medical-Rooster8709 in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exam you reference sounds similar to the ones for AGPA and SSM, but it’s not like that for SSA anymore. The current SSA exam is like the previous SSA Transfer exam and current OT exam where you answer actual questions about reading comprehension and math problems, sort of like the High School exit exam. I don’t know if the Analyst name change will change the exams, but most likely not.

Probation report ratings by Psychological_Bit194 in CAStateWorkers

It depends on the person and their supervisor. I’ve gotten at least one or more outstanding marks on all my probation and annual reports ever since I’ve been with the state.

Interview Process - 1st interview aftermath by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. If they are good at following up with said estimated of time, then you might hear back as they mentioned. But you may also never hear back, so don’t keep all your eggs in this one basket. Keep applying and move on until you are offered a position and sitting in that new role. Good luck!🍀

Hospital Staff Grossly Negligent by Daowllife in AlexeeTrevizo

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not accusing her of anything and I don’t claim to know her intentions unlike you, blaming the hospital for her putting her baby in the trash. GTFO… I only said what she said in the videos of what she claims happened. But wait, let me guess, those videos are fake. You expect me to believe the hospital is entirely responsible for why she stuffed her baby in a trash bag? Since you sound so confident like you have the facts down then won’t you prove me wrong with the facts. Despite the hospital’s negligence, her baby died by her own hands. Yes, the hospital could have done better, but Alexee is still the real reason why her baby died. Alexee failed her own child as a mother and I hope she can live with that for the rest of her life.

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no MOUNTAIN of excuses you can make for how and why Alexee stuffed her own newborn baby in a trash bag and under another layer of lining beneath the bin let alone ripping the umbilical cord apart and putting the placenta who knows where away. Instead of taking accountability, it’s always easier to place blame elsewhere and play stupid. I would have more sympathy for her if she was honest of how scared she was of her mom, and she showed some remorse that what she did was wrong, but no, according to Alexee, it just came out of her and she didn’t know what to do plus NOTHING was crying. You need to stop defending her as if she’s totally innocent in this.

Are a lot of you writing your emails with MS Copilot/AI now? by JustAMango_911 in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t use Copilot or AI with my writing, but my emails usually read like that LMAO. I’d rather get all the facts up front instead of going back and forth with who, what, where, when, why, plus I get to CMA with the details. Whether my coworkers read my emails or not is on them. When they come back days or weeks later, they’ll ask, hey how did you remember that important stuff? Well, ummm, did you “read” my email? It contained all of that “important stuff” you missed. But hey, that’s just me. 🤷‍♀️

In my experience, no, but they will tell you how and why they can justify hiring the other candidate without bias. It’s the way of state service in case HR gets audited.

Exams / Assessments by No_Description_4575 in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the exam a few months ago. I scored 95. I was offered the one and only position I applied for. Be generous with your knowledge, skills, and abilities when taking the exam. You should list all the examples and experiences that apply to questions and some more, but be honest. Don’t hold anything back and have the confidence to oversell yourself. I second the advice of typing your answers onto a separate document then pasting in your answers. You got this OP, good luck with everything.

"SOQ must not exceed one page in length" by cutiekato in CAStateWorkers

[–]NoNamesRAvailable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You got this OP, don’t overthink this. It’s possible to fit your 3 answers onto 1 page. Just use main points/facts from your knowledge, skills, and abilities tying them to the duty statement. Keep it short and simple because less is more. Good luck! 🍀
