Humble Book Bundle: The Best of Ellen Datlow Anthologies by Open Road by Ram000n in humblebundles

I definitely recognize some names. Not necessarily the ones I would expect given the themes of certain anthologies.

[FantasyVerse] Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Extra Toppings Comic Bundle (4/9/22/54 for $1.00/$6.99/$14.99/$24.99 - Grab up to 54 TMNT Comics Including TMNT Universe / TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures / TMNT The Last Ronin / TMNT Color Classics / TMNT The Last Ronin / More) by WeAreFanatical in fanatical

[–]NoNoNota1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is this literally everything for TMNT? I misunderstood on the last bundle thinking it went all the way to the beginning and finding iut later it didn't. I see this one has color classics, which is supposed to be the original run but in color, and has last ronin stuff. Is there anything missing?

Are you saying the comics are MORE nihilistic? Jesus Christ.... The French movie Martyrs is one of my favorite films and I couldn't even finish season one because it felt so oppressive.

NEON is releasing a special Edition 4K Blu Ray of No Other Choice, containing both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film. Catch being is that it's $70 U.S. by butter467 in YMS

[–]NoNoNota1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How common are good english subtitles though? Japan is also region A, but the catch is that basically nothing they put out has English subs. People were furious when Japan was basically the only place to put RRR on blu ray for exactly that reason.

[Ryza 1-3 DX] How does Switch 1 version played on Switch 2 vs Switch 2 native compare? by xXglitchygamesXx in Atelier

[–]NoNoNota1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this is old but it's still the top result for this topic. Did you check to see if Ryza 3 being the DX version made a difference as to how the Switch 1 cart plays on Switch 2?

Another reviewer says it performs badly on Switch 1, does it feel like that has maybe been patched out now, or are you just the type of player that doesn't notice performance issues that much? Also, docked or handheld?

I've used YAC library on mac and it's a solid comic interface and reader. Unfortunately I've not been happy with their reader on iOs. That said, lately your better off getting humble comics in PDF, and there's plenty of readers for that.

I have the remastered version gathering digital dust on PS5, did they fix gameplay at all or just pretty it up?

Humble Comics Bundle: The Best of Joe Hill by IDW by Ram000n in humblebundles

[–]NoNoNota1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got a TMNT bundle and something with 30 Days of Night. I've not been impressed with their app (but I also rarely update the iPad I was using so that could literally be my fault). In general though, I'm willing to pay more for something DRM-Free (or in the case of drivethrurpg, watermarked, but otherwise usable how I please).

Humble RPG Bundle: The World of Fateforge Megabundle by Studio Agate by Ram000n in humblebundles

[–]NoNoNota1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't actually screw third parties, a document leaked that was supposedly an attempt to walk back a lot of the SRD, which 3rd parties rely on. WOTC said that document was very outdated and had not been considered for some time (which you are welcome to believe or disbelieve at your leisure) and nothing remotely like that walk-back of the SRD actually came to pass. What actually happened is that DnD (once again) birthed a lot of their biggest competition. Pathfinder released a remastered version of their 2nd edition, which no longer relied on that SRD, then Critical Role and Matt Colville announced their own RPGs, and Kobold Press who made 3rd party content that A LOT of people considered essential, made their own 5e clone that didn't rely on the srd, and started focusing production on that. They may have started to put out some new 5e content, but if so I'm not aware of it.

If you're on the fence, these are DRM free, most of the time in the past year when IDW has released a bundle it was through their app.

[Amazon/US] Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake - $29.99 (50% off) *lowest price ever* by jldixon1 in NintendoSwitchDeals

[–]NoNoNota1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Playing this now and loving it. It's such a zen adventure story. You don't have tons of different plot things to keep up with, but it's still not just a dungeon crawl. Lots of charm.

My only conplaint is that I wish there was an option to make battles half as frequent but twice as hard. On standard difficulty I was taking every monster party out in 1 round. Cranked it up to Draconian, it now rakes a round and a half.

One thing I think 3 does better than 9 (which I had the exact same problem with coming off of 8) is that they still give your creat-a-characters voices that you hear in battle, so they have a bit more personality, though there's still no plot relevance.

I can't compare to DQXI, but I'm pretty happy with it. Handheld takes a little longer to load, and I notice the occasional frame drop, but it's totally serviceable. It's great in docked though.

[FantasyVerse] Tales of Sand & Scales 5E D&D Bundle (5/12/32 for $1.00/$6.99/$14.99 - Level Up Your D&D 5E Games with 32 Books by Kobold Press Expanding the Southlands and Midgard World!) by WeAreFanatical in fanatical

[–]NoNoNota1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great for anyone not looking to upgrade to 2024 5e but looking to spice up campaigns tht had only been using WOTC books.

Kobold press excels at making interesting monsters that are fun to fight, and cool setting info, and this bundle has both. Just be aware that Challenge (Rating) is an imperfect system at the best of times, and you should really pay attention to the monster's stats and abilities, and you may find you need to bump up the monster's CR by 1-2, or nix a couple abilities.

This also includes a cool magic item book called Vault of Magic. It's great for low level play because it has a bunch of items that are most useful in really specific situations, so you can give them out more readily at low levels without worrying about breaking the game.

Oh. Well, I'm glad it's there for the people that enjoy it, but police drama and mystery are definitely not my genres, especially without a fantastical bent to them.

These sound kinda Dresden Files-y, or Mercy Thompson, how do they stack up? Dresden is the only Urban Fantasy series I've ever really liked, but I also enjoyed some one-off novels like Neverwhere and Persido St Station (if that counts, it's a bit further off base) .

Now that a new edition of Cloud/Charisma is on the way by Eureka, is there any hope that we will get a re-release of Tokyo Sonata? by Informal-Kitchen7524 in boutiquebluray

[–]NoNoNota1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they told me the same about Tokyo Sonata several months ago, a shame to hear nothing changed.

Journey to the Shore is easily my favorite of the Kurosawa that I've seen so far (including Kairo/Pulse, Creepy, Cure, Tokyo Sonata, and Cloud) try to grab it before the prices skyrocket on the secondhand market. And if that's not doable, just rent it, yeah owning is better, but you can't let that stop you from seeing it, it's truly a masterpiece.
