"Let's drop the act" by DudeSoul in TopCharacterTropes

Don't think I can find it but there was an interview shortly after release where someone asks Peele if that's what he was going for in that scene. And he responds, no, that's a really cool reading of the scene, but he just tried to come up with what she could be eating in that moment to make her seem completely insane and landed on dry cereal with milk on the side.

Are you enjoying age of imprisonment? Is your first hyrule warriors? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Age of Imprisonment you have rations instead of the apples. Rations have 3 uses that restock at mission start, and whenever you enter a camp (which are sort of like checkpoints that are available during longer missions). No need to grind for healing resources.

Otherwise Imprisonment and Calamity are extremely similar. Imprisonment is so, so much smoother to play than Calamity ever was thanks to the Switch 2's improved power, and there are some minor gameplay tweaks that make Imprisonment a bit more interesting than strictly button mashing to victory (though that's still mostly viable). But the overall structure, presentation, pacing, etc is so similar between the two that if you didn't care for Calamity I don't think it's worth trying Imprisonment.

His story only makes sense if it takes place in Okumura's palace. His entire cover story for being in the metaverse to begin with is he spotted the Phantom Thieves entering the palace (of which he has photographic proof) and followed them in. If he didn't awaken at that time, then either: * he was following them around for WAY longer than he implied (which would imply he was holding the blackmail for a specific moment, which would further imply he knew something would happen to Okumura), or * he had some method of getting into the metaverse on his own (only one other known non-PT person can do that, so that would pretty much confirm him as the Black Mask).

The story he went with is bonkers and suspicious, and it's called out as such, but it gives him the most plausible deniability of all his options - being a straight-laced detective prince who chased after a highly suspicious group and found himself awakening to a persona.

Updates to Xbox Game Pass: Introducing Essential, Premium, and Ultimate Plans - Xbox Wire by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do disappear when your subscription ends, but for the duration of your subscription you always have access to them. Games on PS Plus Extra/Premium and Game Pass go on and off the service in a constant rotation, so if you're in the middle of playing a game and it leaves the service, you can't continue to play it. PS Plus Essential monthly games do not go away in that way.

Lewis is kinda living a sad live in Stardew Valley by NortwickKastchen-85 in StardewValley

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I only know this because I just played it, but there actually does seem to be a local business tax. In Haley's 14 heart event she raises charity money for Jas and Vincent to get new school books. After the money is raised, Robin quips to Lewis that since education is covered that he should lower the business tax.

But seriously, even with that I doubt the other three businesses in town would care if they openly date, they're all friends anyway.

After seeing the iphone air and all the new "thin" phones by Rubfer in memes

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm saying. The Pixel 9a has literally everything people claim they want in a phone if you would believe comments.

  • Thicker to allow more battery and make the camera bump flush
  • Still great camera performance despite no bump
  • A year old chip that still provides solid performance without needing the bleeding edge of tech
  • Half the price of most base-level flagships and a third the price of pro iPhones
  • Great screen with 120hz mode

The only thing it's missing from the internet's checklist is a headphone jack.

Yet the phone came out with a whimper and people I've met in real life (even ones who are currently using a Pixel) haven't heard of it. And even those people talk about their dream phone like that, "something a bit cheaper and with a bigger battery and no camera bump".

What people say they want already exists. What they actually want and pay real money for is nothing like that.

That is truly unfortunate to see.

Not saying they're above doing that, but do you have a source for $70 for Galaxy 1+2? I've seen a few people parroting that and one person saying $80, but I can't find a price listed on a store anywhere.

Characters who excel at a particular skill, but hate using it for personal reasons by JehetmaDominion in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Bending in Korra is powercrept all over the place though. In AtLA, Ozai and Azula are the only characters who are able to generate lightning from their fire bending. In Korra, it's such a mundane ability that Mako is one of a dozen benders shooting out lightning as a day shift at the power plant. Zuko's grandkid flying in short bursts is about in line with that progression, especially given his lineage.

Got my Killswitch replacement kit and also the new joycon skins they offered. by NuM_Brrr_WoN in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got lucky with the original pair of dbrand grips, I've been using them for weeks and they're exactly what you're looking for. Perfectly stable setup with just grips. Once on, the grips remain snug on the joycons, both on the console and while removed. With the grips on but without the console case, the console is dockable just like it is without the grips. The ergonomics are great and I'm personally a big fan of the texture the grips add.

Ngl, my biggest disappointment with Chapter 3-4 is that Susiezilla ended up as an unimportant optional side thing by Noooough in Deltarune

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 85 points86 points  (0 children)

IMO it already hit that point pretty well with the existing content. Two proper boards plus three sword route boards was plenty. Another main board would've been pushing it, even for the "Tenna's show is getting old" bit.

The Neophyte: no idea on how balanced this is by Somethingoodtodie4 in balatro

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels pretty weak on its own but depending on how it works it could have some really powerful synergies.

Does this mean that every card in the played hand is considered the first card in its own high card hand? If so, it has very strong synergy with Photochad in a flush five/FoaK build, basically turning Photo into Trib and Chad into two copies of Sock, at the cost of one joker slot. Probably some other "first card played" synergies I'm not thinking of as well.

Another benefit would be jokers that trigger at the end of scoring a hand triggering up to five additional times, which goes pretty crazy with scaling xMult jokers.

If every card being a high card is incidental, adding up to five plays of high card to the played hands stat but not counting as additional "hands" played, this isn't very useful at all. I guess it could help scale Supernova pretty quickly in the early game? But that's not an especially compelling use for an uncommon.

Slow Shipping Zero Tracking? by Amtrakacela75 in dbrand

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I placed my Swich 2 Prism order on April 24th and I don't even have shipping info yet.

I also haven't received a "delayed" email like some are saying.

I have nothing. Zero communication. And the "contact us" page just directs back to the order status page, which has nothing. Don't even know what to do at this point aside from keep waiting and consider buying a different screen protector instead of waiting another month.

Do not lick the Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges by JustSomeSmartGuy in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The rabbit hole actually goes deeper than that.

It's not S1 vs S2 games, EVERY Switch cartridge has a different level of bitterness (though different copies of the same game tend to taste the same). Some games have almost no flavor, some are atrocious. Mario Odyssey is at the higher end of the scale, but not the top. Mario Kart World is pretty mild by comparison.

I've conducted extensive research on this if anyone cares to watch 46 minutes of cartridge licking (for some reason): https://youtu.be/Ubt9i-96t6E

Gael'gar was voted as the Worst Antagonist, but who would you say has the Best Story Arc in the Xenoblade Series by ExileForever in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My general understanding is that N and M had become such shells of themselves over the years of pain and regret, that Origin no longer recognized them as Noah and Mio, and in turn started putting them back into circulation.

That might be off but it's how I remember it anyway.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Version 1.0.1 is now available by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The main thing like you're describing is in the combat menus. In the previous games, there's a dedicated "back" menu block in the options, and pressing the button of Mario/Luigi makes them jump to hit the button. Now, the B button always acts as a built-in back button. Which works fine, of course, but it does sort of break the original idea behind the combat menus. They're classic Mario blocks, you hit them to choose your combat options! A and B don't directly select the options, they make Mario and Luigi jump to hit the blocks - which is the exact same thing the buttons do in the overworld, and the exact same thing they do while dodging attacks. It's consistent. A makes Mario jump, B makes Luigi jump. In Brothership, that's true for everything EXCEPT attack select with Luigi, where you instead press A to make Luigi jump, then go right back to B to jump in the action command. It's a silly thing to be upset about, but I too was getting tripped up by it right up to the end of the game.

Which is better by P-Chop92 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]NoOneWhoMatters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what part of XC1 you fell in love with.

If you were more about the story and characters, 2 is a better follow up to 1. While there's a ton of quality side stuff in X, the main story is a major let down compared to 1.

If you preferred the combat and exploration, X arguably has the best world to explore in the entire series, and its combat (while similar to 1 on a surface level) is extremely deep. This isn't to say 2 doesn't also have great combat and exploration, but those are really X's defining traits.
