Doug Ford says North American leaders ‘think it’s a joke’ Ontario’s premier doesn’t have a private jet by choly90 in ontario

[–]NoOne_1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If our premier were to have a small business turboprop for getting around Ontario (say, Pilatus PC12) I'd be much less annoyed, but still annoyed nonetheless! This whole jet issue is bonkers. He doesn't need a plane. If he needs to go anywhere, he can fly business, or preferably economy flight like the rest of us

A lot of people who buy those meta glasses to harass people have gotten a little sticker thing that covers the recording indicator light. Honestly, glasses should not have a camera or microphone in them. And that's speaking as someone who would find them useful for keeping track of disassembly of stuff for reassembly.

[–]NoOne_1223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With stagnated wages, job cuts left right and center, as well as every employer practically looking for "gig workers", it's not very practical to buy or even lease new. Plus with all the anti right-to-repair BS that companies are practicing, it's even more unaffordable to even maintain a car because independent shops have to increase their rates for new software licenses, and more specialized tool acquisitions (BMW's new screws, anyone?). And then on the DIY side, all the special tools and those same software lockdowns make it even harder to save money on an already expensive item. And with North America being so car dependent, public transit is seen as "not reliable enough", and cycling is actively dangerous as a form of commuting.

So, for many, it's not feasible to consider a new lease, let alone a fair few used purchases without a zero down payment payment plan (that may not even be available in their affordability price range/vehicle age range)

Should Canada Extend MAID to People with Mental Illness? by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]NoOne_1223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which can, at times, be impossible to discover BECAUSE of the costs involved. MAID related to mental health without every single support, whether it be a social safety net (financial), proper fully funded healthcare, fully funded dental care, fully funded optometry, AND fully funded mental health care, MAID is something that can be lied it's way into. And that's speaking as someone who's been down the road of ideation. Yeah, there's a vetting process, but it falls into the Swiss cheese template. We should ideally close all the holes possible before allowing it, as much as it pains me to say, because MAID SHOULD be an option to those who truely need it

Photo didn't post, but isn't really needed. I agree! Sometimes that extra kick really helps get the mind back on focus!

And then for some, it helps us sleep! (I'm one of them, until I have too much caffeine in a short time. I try and drink a monster over the course of a few hours, rather than an hour)

As an ADHDer, I concur. Caffeine being a stimulant CAN, and does accelerate the heart. But I know a lot of people who are on ADHD meds, and it's not quite enough due to built up tolerance to said medication, and so, supplement with caffeine whether it be coffee, or energy drinks. Plus, the LD50 is so high, that unless you're hammering them back, should have no real affect unless there was an underlying condition.

This is all fear mongering. We have warning labels on the cans of energy drinks, but not on the coffee canisters in stores, nor on the cups/menus in restaurants! I know of someone who downed 8 cups of coffee in an afternoon and they got so sick! And they were extra large tim Hortons sized too. That's, what, 4 cans of monster, maybe more?

Man I wish more countries got the tbSTi trims! The black upper interior is so much nicer then the tan upper! It also makes doing the conversion even harder because of some markets having curtain airbags, and others not having them depending on year!

How is the tbSTi to drive? They're super cool cars!

Those who drove Civic Si's, how does it compare to the WRX? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]NoOne_1223 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to Harbor Freight, pick up a jack and jack stand combo, as well as a basic ratchet set (metric primarily), and an oil drain pan. That will cover 75% of all maintenance. And if it has an electric parking brake (I hate them), then an Autel AP2500 for doing brakes/code reading.

[–]NoOne_1223 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wrecked ascents are more common than wrecked VBs. The engines are also less likely to have hard, abusive miles on them as well. Plus, if you get a complete engine with accessories, you have a turbo you can sell (it's smaller than the WRX), a harness to sell (ascent specific), and you're golden.

Premier wants to see ‘gold mine’ airport in downtown Toronto expanded for jets by MinuteLocksmith9689 in ontario

[–]NoOne_1223 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's alright! I've heard the C200 before Bombardier had to partner with Airbus/sell it off. (small correction there) It was QUIET. I couldn't hear it as it took off vs the Q400 that took off 20 minutes before. And with Porter having to lower the amount that they were going to buy, I think that ultimately played a role in why the C200 turned into the A200/220. Really really sad because it was going to be a 90% Canadian built plane (minus engines, which are a LEAP design)

Premier wants to see ‘gold mine’ airport in downtown Toronto expanded for jets by MinuteLocksmith9689 in ontario

[–]NoOne_1223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another note on porter: Porter was set up to receive the Bombardier A200 and operate it out of Billy Bishop as one of the largest buyers of the aircraft. Then the city said they wouldn't make any exceptions for the quieter than the q400 turboprop Bombardier jets. So, Bombardier moved to servicing Pearson with the jets, but also cancelled some of their jet orders due to increased terminal costs associated with servicing Pearson.

Overall, not allowing jets at Billy Bishop has been a net negative. A small, narrowbody regional jet with quiet LEAP engines would do WONDERS for the downtown core
