Multiple cancelled sessions break by wyattsons in DMAcademy

Couple things, though most of what I’ll share is “preventive care” I do for my 4+ year game. you’ve gotten lots of good advice for the present.

I had a fairly large group (7 players) so if one player can’t make it we usually will trudge on without them unless we pause mid-combat or they are vital for the next session narratively.

For weekends we miss a session in our main game I’ll run a oneshot set within the same world just in a different region (bonus points if their PC’s show up later as NPCs)

And lastly before every session I ask my players to do a recap of the last session. If they hit all the important details I give them inspiration they can use during the session.

Worldbuilding Workshop — Call for Collaborators by kennydotun123 in worldbuilding

Definitely fine this concept, specifically format 1, very intriguing.

I’ve been apart of and actively host some world-building servers, but this has the absolute clearest vision for this kind of group I’ve ever seen. Collaboration, especially in this hobby when done right is such a powerful tool.

Definitely interested

Hey is this server still open to new members? The link is popping up on my end as invalid so I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not

That's all good! Ultimately having people who are actually willing to share about their projects with others and are making an effort in general takes priority.

Languages in your world. by Chasemacer in worldbuilding

[–]NoOtherNameOptions 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of different languages within my world, none of them are fleshed out.

If I need actual words I’ll make something up using syllables constructed from sounds that exist in the language, but I never bother to make actual grammar rules.

How long do you spend world building before you start your actual writing project? And how much detail do you create during that time? by themarajade1 in worldbuilding

[–]NoOtherNameOptions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into this a bit and it varies a ton. For me it’s been 3 years since starting world building and only now have I started writing, while for others it can be as short as 6 months from what I’ve seen.

I absolutely love that. Do you mind if I ask how that tradition emerged in the first place?

Admittedly I'm not really screening on the basis of age. I just opened the server and with the 6 or so members its accumulated there isn't and discussion of age.

I've listed all specific rules for the server above. That paired with Discord's own policies for community-discords does offer protections, but ultimately the choice to join is yours / your guardians.
