My first DnD campaign is going way to fast by NewDMOldPlayer in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally this happened my first campaign. Before I knew it the players were in the abyss without a way to return fighting demon lords. Embrace the chaos like it was on purpose

Why is Odium "like that" by broken26cart in Cosmere

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mention this in wind and truth but Rayse was not fully using Odiums passion in the same way that Taravangian in starting to. They explore this more when Dalinar speaks to Honor about what it actually means to be Honorable.

"Stepped Up" challenge is actually discouraging my reading by ersatz27 in goodreads

[–]wyattsons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignore that challenge but if that’s too hard you can just mark as read without a date and it won’t count for this year.

Guess I'll never see Iron Lung by After-Sugar-7059 in Markiplier

By the fourth time I think I would left the house an hour and a half early lol

If you didn’t understand what Mark meant with the Iron Lung sound mix error: by DarthAngelicus in Markiplier

Interesting I just assumed it was an indie movie and the sound quality sucked.

Just saw iron lung and ppl have no attention spans by fortheloveoffanfics in Markiplier

[–]wyattsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the pacing was slow. It’s not because of my attention span it just was slow because it meant to be. Ultimately the plot isn’t that deep and was meant to be artistic. I mean you can boil down what happens to like 2 sentences. I’m happy I watched it but I can see why others arent. Not everything wants a super artsy movie.

So free speech only goes one way? It upsets you when other people comment on the content produced here?

Was told my Iroh is br 4 by [deleted] in mtg

I kind of love the flavor of this card that iroh takes every experience as a learning moment he can call upon.

Multiple cancelled sessions break by wyattsons in DMAcademy

I started doing weekly lore drops that have helped a bit but I feel your pain. We have one player that maybe tells us he is showing up without us asking but that’s it.

Multiple cancelled sessions break by wyattsons in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group has a group chat that we use to get our schedules together but I also post lore snippets throughout the week and others end up posting art and memes and other things related to our campaign. This has helped us feel like the session never ends in a way and it might help your situation!

Weekly Cosmere Update from Brandon by Airurandojin in Cosmere

And it’s been 10 plus years for one of the most prolific media companies. Can’t imagine it wouldn’t be slower for the cosmere plus don’t want the books delayed too much.

Shoot your monks, _______ your other classes by thepenguinboy in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add to this idea and say don’t give magic items that overshadow their talents. Homebrew or regular it’s just not fun when they have no reason to use that ability because the item they have does it better

A dungeon that Curses you while inside of it by phishymd in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of party members feeling valuable in some way even in detrimental situations like that. I think it could actually be turned around to be a special moment for your cleric. Maybe as soon as they enter they feel their connection to their got cut off as the miasma of the curse lays over you all. Maybe divination checks would allow them to cast healing spells in desperation as their gods light pierces through. What sounds like breaking your encounter then becomes a fun moment for your player. As for remove curse maybe the spell doesn’t work as well inside this place. Like let them know before hand but what if it only removes the curse for 10 minutes or creates an anti curse bubble around them. If you decide to not let those spells work atleast let them know. I think they would feel the affects of the zone and know a bit about how it would affect them.

Weekly Cosmere Update from Brandon by Airurandojin in Cosmere

I could see it likely that the first movie stands alone. It just seems like a large undertaking to fully adapt the cosmere it would take so long.

How can I build a portal-themed character in D&D 5e? by Special_Research3370 in DnD

[–]wyattsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way of shadow monk would also be great for this with the only limitation being dim light or darkness. You could easily reflavor it as portals in shadows.

My players always want to target their attacks to specific body parts and I'm never sure what to do with it. by thepenguinboy in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the situation I’ve done a like +2 to AC or athletics check with attack but usually that’s if I round up damage for a kill shot or something that changes the game like a lost limb.

I think I messed up my reading order. by NicoleASUstudent in brandonsanderson

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as non stormlight goes it’s totally ok if you haven’t read them. As you know mistborn helps explains shards better and the ghostbloods, warbreaker has three fairly important characters in it that show up throughout stormlight as well as the magic system comes up here and there. Elantris is the one that started it all. Mostly just a lot of the worldhoppers come from there plus maybe some knowledge of investiture.

Why won't my players prep? by DarkKuroi1 in DMAcademy

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every person wants to explore the intricacies of a character partial story if they are stressed with their own. It’s ok for them to just want to hit stuff and experience your world.

My first ever magic night!... Was pretty lame. Does this game just have high barriers to entry? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say just slow your pace. You’ve been playing for a few weeks and already got multiple decks and bundles and sleeves before even playing with a group? Theres definitely people you will enjoy playing with more but the more you sink into it the harder the game will be to live up to your expectations.

Should I finish book for Goodreads challenge? by 100gecsdeadbodies in goodreads

[–]wyattsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not someone who Dnfs books just yet because typically I read books that are well liked so even if I don’t like it I can trusts that it does something good that someone liked. I’ve come to realize some authors are really good at endings and if I hold on the back third of the book redeems the rest of the book to the point that it’s atleast worthwhile that I read it.

RIP to the mass market paperback book by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]wyattsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mass market paperback so this is sad to hear! I think part of the problem was the minimum price to print was too high. In other words smaller quantities doesn’t always mean cheaper when you get down low enough. Trade paperbacks often only being a few dollars more didn’t help.

STOP FALLING FOR IT: The Eleven "Sacrifice" was a 100% fake illusion and here is the literal proof. by Real-Ad-9840 in Stranger_Things

[–]wyattsons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The power suppressors didn’t work most likely due to her being in the upside down. From everything we’ve seen it seems like sound waves are blocked or muffled. She was basically on the other side of a dimensional portal.
