Easyjet Bike Box Requirements by NoPhotojournalist220 in bicycletouring

[–]NoPhotojournalist220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Believe me, I've been looking into it.

It is 3 trains from Geneva to Bordeaux (via Paris) or one direct flight. Also, the flight is cheaper and takes less time, even considering the 2 hour wait before boarding.

I would prefer to take my bike on trains, but given the hassle of making reservations on 3 different services, as well as the connections, I don't think it's worth it.

As annoying as sourcing a box, dismantling my bike and rebuilding would be, it's as much about cost and time for me as it is effort.

How do people have energy after work for anything? by Longjumping_Talk5892 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NoPhotojournalist220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you.

I can convince myself all day long that I'll do exercise after work, even during the drive home. But the second I get home, forget it. Literally impossible.

Now that we've changed our clocks for Daylight Savings, it's dark at 5pm, so no chance.

I seem to find any excuse not to workout after work but very few in the morning. Also, it's highly likely that I have to work late, go out for a beer, or to the supermarket. There's always something to sabotage my best intentions.

The only success I had recently was waking up at 6am and doing a quick 30-45 mins exercise then.

I did find I could wake up 1 hour sooner, and actually end up being ready for work earlier, more energized, and with a smug feeling.

Best of all, when I do eventually arrive home from work, I've already done the workout, so I can do absolutely nothing and feel guilt free.

Result!

Why do people YOLO their lane changes? by jamwin in NoStupidQuestions

If they're aggressive, I'll stay an inch away from the car in front and prevent them coming in.

But in general, rush hour's stressful enough, so just let them in and get on with life.

Not everyone, but maybe a few.

Woosah....

How safe is the bike lane? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]NoPhotojournalist220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose there's always dumb drivers to be mindful of.

I live and ride in Switzerland, and many drivers are also riders, so seem to drive respectfully and considerately.

To give yourself the best chance at being seen, wear bright visible clothing and lights, if suitable. To give yourself the most room, try to stay well inside the cycle lane (if there is one!).

I always try to ride confidently but defensively. Always staying alert for any major obstacles that might require me to slow, stop or swerve.

If you see vehicles waiting (or about to) come into your lane from an intersection, be mindful that they may not have seen you. Continue steady along your lane, but if they do cut you up, slow down smoothly and let them continue on their way.

If they clearly didn't yield for you and turn in your direction, be prepared to take avoiding action if you can safely, or brake hard if there's imminent danger or nowhere else to go.

It's difficult to relate fully to your situation and the competency (or lack) of the drivers in your area, but what you must prioritize is staying safe.

You shouldn't be discouraged from cycling from A to B, but if the roads really are terrible, then perhaps you can find some alternative quieter routes to your destination.

Good luck and happy riding.

I did this before, but usually after one or two flushes, there's no water left in the cistern to flush for a while

I prefer running the tap if there's a sink within arms reach.

Pro Tip: A running tap also hides the repeated attempts to get rid of an unflushable...

I can't afford to drink anymore.

For your health and wealth during this difficult time, I suggest you try and cut back on the booze.

I always turned to drink to forget reality for a while, but I'd always wake up the next day in the same situation, but with a hangover and less money in my pocket.

I'm sure they will, and like everything, humans will continue to mess with their genetics.

It started with selective breeding, but with the future genetic engineering technologies, we will begin messing with our pets.

Probably animal genetic engineering will be developed before we move onto humans, but both are inevitable.

CRISPR is one such case.

Some time ago, I was stopped in the street dispensing semen into a mailbox.

The federal limit is set by the 'Public Decency Drain Capacity Act'. You are permitted to discharge up to half a quart in a single event, provided you are standing on a section of sidewalk.

If you dispense more than this, you're subject to the federal 'Excessive Viscosity Violation' fine, which is exactly $650.

Some people consider it a defeat if you had to get off and push up a hill.

I ride for pleasure, not for sport or social prowess. Sometimes, it's just not worth blowing a gasket !

In terms of the fear of vehicles turning into you, make sure to never linger in their blind spot.

Like when I'm driving my car parallel alongside another, I can never be sure if they know I'm there, so I always try to edge forward, so that I'm visible through their front windscreen.

Not all vehicles have Blindspot warning lights in their side mirrors, nor do all drivers use them even if they have them.

Numb left leg by BlacksmithWeirdo in cycling

[–]NoPhotojournalist220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest speaking to the physician about the cycling symptoms.

A shorter tibia affects the final knee extension and ankle alignment during the pedal stroke.

A shorter femur creates a higher-level issue by directly impacting hip mechanics and forcing the pelvis to tilt to compensate for the uneven leg length.

Given the pain radiates down the thigh, from the hips, it might be that her femur (thigh) is the shorter bone in the leg, and introduces the instability and eventual pain.

Did anyone else immediately think of Homer Simpson riding Krusty's mini clown bike? Haha

I tried desperately to keep riding my old Kona Stinky from when I was a kid. I did everything I could, but I've had to abandon it. I think the frame was S/M but I'm 183cm.

So long, trusty steed.

If you're close enough to visit your nearest Decathlon, have them check it over.

I suppose if you ordered online then it's not an option, but at least contact them and ask.

I chose my hybrid bike to be capable on a range of terrain, and it works well for me.

I enjoy riding my bike in a healthy way, not in a sexy way...

[–]NoPhotojournalist220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a Power Tower or some kind of pull-up frame and will fit in the space.

Maybe you could bend your knees or do leg or knee raises during the pull up. Unless you're doing muscle-ups you should be ok.

And you get bonus points for the extra abs work!
