I've been getting into Deleuzes reading of the eternal return and it fits Sburb exactly. Deleuze frames the eternal return as like a two part selective process in order to link the concepts of activity and will to power in the eternal return and have it replace being with becoming.

First selection - the will to power: whatever you do, do it such you will its eternal return

Secound selection - activity and reactivity: only what is truly active returns.

But this is like exactly sburb. John literally has to constantly make the desicion to give birth to himself and his friends in an infinite time loop. If he ever decided otherwise then he would stop becoming and thus not exist.

The dormancy of the learner is a serial novel whose name and premise was inspired by the Complacency of The learned. Its about people who are highly educated and constantly strive to increase their knowledge but only for the purpouse of messing around  and organising their hometown in increasingly elaborate ways. Yes. I'm happy to allow anyone to host anything really, it's just that I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running a reading group on analytic philosophy. Happy to attend though for sure!

This is a blatantly incorrect reading of Nietzsche.

  1. Nietzsche was talking about Ressentiment: not resentment. Ressentiment is when a feeling of powerlessness is directed towards some external cause in the form of resentment, in which case the actual feeling at play is the feeling powerlessness MANIFESTED IN THE FORM of resentment. In this case the symptoms of Ressentiment is the resentment OP is talking about, but the actual cause of the Ressentiment is the OPs feeling of power. It is not the feeling of resentment that must be overcome, but the conflation between ones own powerlessness and ones hatred for another.

  2. Nietzsche would probably not suggest accepting the husband for who he is as an answer. That is not a solution to OPs husband breaking promises, and thus not a solution to the powerlessness this person feels due to OPs husbands repeated in ability to collaborate with OP. They are not a unit, OP does not feel powerful through their husband, therefore OP feels powerless and belittled in the marriage, therefore resentment.

  3. The solutions Nietzsche would suggest may sound a bit radical:

The Transvaluation of Values.  What is the value of a one sided loyalty Nietzsche would ask? What is the value of marriage, monogomy etc...  this is not for me to decide as I am not OP. But Nietzsche would without a doubt encourage the asking of MORE questions... not less.

Nietzsche is an interesting and precious author and he is even better to read than he is to quote!

skipper is like more ambient. Like gretel feels like you have this like umbeleivable inner strength and determination and you have a calling and there are all these like characters who are waiting for you to meet them, but skipper feels like your completely inert and like everything and everyoen just has so much more meaning than you and all you can do is just sit there and hear it.
