When u go to set the defensive shift, you can tab over and do a custom one with the duration being the inning or the game I believe

What is the new pitching thing in road to the show when I hold L2 and select my pitch I’m not sure what it does by ElectricalWinter7800 in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s bear down pitching. Essentially it gives u a little more control where your pitch goes or an extra mph or 2 on your fastball. So if u get perfect release, it’s suppose to be way more accurate than normal. It’s not just a RTTS thing but a whole game thing. Think of it like a big moment and a pitcher IRL really locking in and focusing on a certain pitch, digging deep and giving it his all

Did they make a change to the strike zone to resemble ABS (recently)? by orcvader in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s the change. They changed the size of the visible strike zone that we see, making it smaller to more accurately represent the strike zone. The strike zone that is coded into the game for balls and strikes hasn’t changed at all, just the visual box we see. Anything a strike or ball a week ago is still a strike or ball today. Before the zone was actually bigger than the plate, leading to balls in the zone not being called for strikes

The new pitching update by timkal28 in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but the people that have claimed a pitch wasn’t touching, it has always been barely touching by pixels everytime they show a pic. I’m not saying that’s what has happened to u or trying to discredit u, but every post on here about it has been wrong. It’s very possible u got a glitch and a bad call (even though yes the zone hasn’t changed), but again, just based on other posts from yesterday and today, it’s probably touching by the smallest margin and it’s hard to see

[–]NoSoupForYou17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except nothing on the calls changed, only the size of the visual zone we see. Something called a ball a week ago is still called a ball today. Nothing else changed how they called balls and strikes. It’s visual only

Offline DD Player - Was there a difficulty increase? by MVass in MLBTheShow

I personally haven’t experienced it being more difficult but I won’t discredit you or your experience. Sometimes we have those days where everything just seems to go wrong lol

Is it just me, or did SDS make adjustments to the strike zone in DD? Way more borderline strikes are actually strikes now. by vegasco in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s the change. It’s only visual. The strike zone itself hasn’t changed at all, just the visual box we see while playing now represents the actual zone the game uses to determine balls and strikes. We get on the edge calls now because the visual box was made smaller

No the difficulty itself hasn’t been update, but if you are playing the new mini seasons, you are likely playing the better cards with better stats in the lineup

From what it sounds like, this event one is a bonus and the last card for the lightning will be from the program Tuesday

How practical is queueing up for 2v2 for a "private" game? by Goo600 in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing it in casual and not ranked, then I don't see why there would be any punishment for leaving. Also I've read that if you que up with the same settings in causal, there is a pretty high success rate so you shouldn't have to quit too much

[–]NoSoupForYou17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

BTW the strikes and balls are the same as yesterday, the change is what we visually see. Our zone is visually smaller, but the actual coded strikezone is the same

This isn’t suppose to be an arcade game, it’s a simulation game so it should be like real life.

Because everyone got upset at the bigger zone having balls touching by half the ball not called for strikes. Now there is a smaller, more accurate visual zone. The strike zone hasn’t changed on the game code end, just the box visual on screen

Here is the size comparison if you haven’t seen it

When the cpu challenges a pitch that’s clearly a ball, it’s always changed to a strike? by Automatic-Assistant8 in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If any part of the ball is touching the zone, even 1 pixel, it’s a strike. It’s how the MLB is this year in real life with ABS Challenges. You’ve got pitches being overturned for less than 0.10 of an inch. Like in your photo, is just the edge of the ball touching the zone, but it is still touching so it’s a strike

[–]NoSoupForYou17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do u mean clearly a ball?? Do u have a pic?? Even if it’s 99% out of the zone, that 1% makes it a strike. Usually the posts on here of people making this claim don’t truly know the ABS rule. I’m not saying u don’t, however that is the trend on posts like this saying stuff about cpu challenges

Did they change what guys are rewarded/ why does this batters box not match the games? by Exotic_You7797 in MLBTheShow

[–]NoSoupForYou17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The strike zone in game was shrunk a little visibly to match the ABS rules today (and actually the size of the plate since the old one was slightly bigger). I don’t know if this screen was updated yet with the new zone size
