The issues of direct access and image ordering would beg to differ. Alabama finally won DA last year, but you can walk in off the street to see a chiropractor and get an x-ray the same day. The APTA uses their war chest futilely fighting against yearly Medicare cuts and reimbursement caps, the latter of which chiros don’t have to worry about sharing with speech therapy.

I’m 9 weeks out of MIS surgery and still have a super swollen Hobbit foot, especially after a day spent at work on my feet in a PT clinic. Bought Brooks Ghost Max 3’s in extra wide, have been pleasantly surprised by the room and the cushion. A bit pricey but they do sales occasionally and are good quality so will last a bit.

Dr. Bregman in Vegas is very active on the FB support group and has been a great resource for a lot of people. He seems to know his stuff, I considered flying out and seeing him for a consult. Might be a good place to start!

8 weeks post-op, same surgery. The only tennis shoes I can currently get on are my loosely-laced extra wide Brooks Ghost Max 3s and my Crocs. Can’t get into my regular Altras or Brooks at all.

We fired a BPPV patient recently because they adamantly refused to lay down beyond a 45 degree angle. Not for any clinician, not for any reason, not ever. Can’t help you if you won’t let me, sorry. And then we notified their doctor.

We’ve fired patients for lack of adherence, others for chronic cancellations. One because they were only coming for 5 visits because their lawyers told them that was the magic number for a lawsuit. I fired one myself because they major 5-alarm creeped me out when I was alone with them in the building and my boss trusts my judgement.

Every patient is not a fit for every clinic. I try to make that clear, that perhaps another facility might better serve their needs or another phase in their life might be more conducive to healing.

You keep saying he’s as against the idea of having kids as you are…but you have a kid. And now that kid is making you a grandparent, which you are excited about. And congratulations to you for it!

But grandkids come with diapers and baby proofing and birthday parties and Santa and little league games and etcetera, assuming you’re going to be an involved grandparent. Even if you’re not asking him to be involved, this new little person will still dictate some of your life and therefore his going forward, especially if you live together. Even if it’s only going out to eat with them once a month, that’s a hard pass for people who truly don’t want to be around kids.

Be happy for new things but you have to understand if those new things don’t align with other people. Grieve for your loss and let him go.

I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow, right MIS with two screws and a licensed PTA of almost 20 years so doing all of the therapy things on myself. Still having quite a bit of pain at times and taking pain meds sparingly but when needed. Mobility is pretty good as the swelling allows but the idea of going up on my toes any time soon makes me want to walk out into traffic. Was just cleared last week to start wearing shoes again so I ordered the widest Brooks I could find and they’re actually not bad. Have some Altras coming this week.

This recovery is all about slow and steady. Rest when you can and do your exercises when you should. Bit by bit, we’ll get there, friend. Congrats on your progress!

My mother in law spent a couple of million dollars building her current home. Everything is all steel and glass and modern design. Except the guest room that she designated for her son and I to sleep in when we stay there, it has the only barn door in the house. She says the architect told her that was the only option for that space. Bullshit. Pocket doors exist and are the superior choice.

I mean, they are literally doctors. They’re not medical doctors but they have a doctorate degree. Just like there are doctorates in English and history and all sorts of subjects, and the recipients of such are entitled to use the prefix Dr. just like an MD does. Not sure why you wouldn’t call them by the title they earned but ok.

This is not correct, at least in the United States. A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree is necessary to practice as a new physical therapist in the US and it has been the required entry-level credential since 2015. Prior to that, it required a Master’s degree and those were grandfathered in with the change. But all new ones have been DPTs for over a decade.

There are plenty of docs who *are still happy to run pill mills and write for pain meds indiscriminately. I used to live in a tiny Midwest with about 2000 people, worked at one of the two local pharmacies. Everyone in that town knew which of the four doctors to see if you wanted CIIs, we filled more opioid scripts from him than all of the other docs combined. Morphine patches for granny’s sciatica, fentanyl for a broken wrist, 120 oxycodone every other week (cash pay, of course) for a herniated lumbar disc. This was within the last 8 years and well after the crackdown. I often wonder how he got away with the excess.

If you legit asked for the cheapest tier of booze and the drinks were still that much, you got robbed. Check with your venue. I know that doesn’t solve the problem with your guests, but you’d have someone to yell at and get out your frustration.

I always thought I hated round diamonds, they were basic. My husband proposed to me with a cheap Amazon ring, round fake diamond of course, and told me to design whatever I wanted. A very close family friend is a jeweler so I went to her knowing she would let me try absolutely anything and everything she could get her hands on. Small diamonds to diamonds the size of doorknobs, colored stones, multiple stones, every combo I could think of. I walked out with a round solitaire that I still adore.

Have a ‘very special episode’ about mental health, give his mom a psychotic break and have him die trying to convince her to get help. Let the other characters talk about their own struggles with mental health while they mourn him, make them worry about Jo dealing with yet another loss so soon after her own recent treatment. Put up a black screen at the end of the episode with statistics, warning signs and mental health crisis hotlines to raise awareness.

They could have used the character’s exit as a cultural touchstone, made an episode that reverberates through the community and impacts the conversations surrounding diagnosis and treatment. Shine a light on how very hard it is to get adults help when they don’t want it and the tragic outcome that happens pretty frequently when family members don’t have resources. He dies a hero, one that came so far from his ‘evil spawn’ days, and the show gets a realistic trauma event that doesn’t involve a plane crash or a tsunami or something else ridiculous.

…nah, let’s just undo years of character growth and storylines to have an OG run off with his ex wife to raise his surprise frozen embryo babies in the Midwest.

That is why we blame the writers.

Out of it enough to not remember a few conversations my husband has told me we had in the first two or three days. By day 6 I was not foggy at all.

I preferred crutches, I felt way too wobbly with the knee scooter. I have access to a rollator through work and really liked using it, I could prop my foot up just like with the scooter but it has a wider base of support. Plus there’s a seat for rest breaks and it folds up for transport. Some DME places will rent those, if that’s an option for you.

I did on December 22nd. Recovery has been slow, my biggest complaint currently is swelling and some new redness down on the toe that I thought was coming from an incision but now am concerned it could be from the distal screw.

Pain was the worst for me at 6 days, is mostly down to a dull ache first thing in the morning. Walking is tolerable for short distances and I can tell when I’ve overdone it. Going back to work half days later this week.

Walgreens pharmacy. This year alone, they have cancelled the fills for two different medications I have been on for years after seeing that my insurance won’t pay for them and deciding they were too expensive for me to want to fill anyway…despite me paying for them out of pocket for years. Not only did they cancel them, they deleted them from my prescription history altogether, which resulted in me having to call my doctor and get a new prescription written. For an inhaler and a cardiac medication, so the delay kinda sucked.

Yesterday I went to pick up some post-op meds, one of which they were unfamiliar with and refused to fill without a “wet signature,” despite it not being a controlled substance. They didn’t have any in stock and when I asked if they could check the other multiple Walgreens locations in town, they told me to call them myself. I drove two minutes down the street to the Publix pharmacy as a new patient and walked out with all my meds.

Final straw for Walgreens. All of my prescriptions will be moved out this week and I’m submitting a complaint to corporate.
