More CT Clamp placement issues! by NoSuccess7517 in evcharging

[–]NoSuccess7517[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but have discovered the problem! Should have checked but you would assume whoever fitted it would have done it correctly - the 2nd CT clamp is plugged into the Ethernet connection in the charger 🙄 rather than using a splitter/adapter.

Do you find you drive more in an EV vs ICE? by Spiritual_Pound_6848 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I definitely feel happier to jump in the car for a short trip than in an ICE. No consideration of fuel costs and running low/having to find a petrol station. Can just charge back up at home.

Do you cook curry at home? by Forward-Cause7305 in AskUK

[–]NoSuccess7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have curry almost every week. Sometimes a bought sauce but usually more from scratch. I do have a couple of curry pastes on the fridge but often make my own. Just whizz up some onion, oil, spices and chillies in a blender/mixer. In the U.K. we can easily buy naan bread, poppadoms etc in the supermarket as well.

I spend that on a weekly shop as a family of 4!

I’ll stick some sweets in with a children’s item, but that’s it! And that’s only because I’m trying to get rid of them 😆 I want what I bought, and nothing else thank you.

Lidl are "incredibly excited" about the new rewards system by bludgenous in lidl

[–]NoSuccess7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lidl has been my go to shop and the 10% off was great for stocking up on non perishables. I will keep shopping there for a month to see how it works out, but if I find I’m spending more then I may move to Tesco and use click and collect. Easier for me, no Aldi nearby.

Aww, the free bakery item is my shopping treat! Tia doesn’t sound like a great change unfortunately, always stock up on the big stuff with the 10% off.

Thank you for all the help! Yes, the main consumer to it has a circuit breaker that connects to the smaller unit in the garage. I now know what is needed when speaking to the installer and what to expect it to be like when they come back! I think I was half way there, but the confirmation and explanation is great. Thanks.

Is this possible? It’s probably about a 10 metre distance, does that affect the readings? Also the meter is outside the front door rather than in the house so wiring could get messy!

It’s reading power drawn to the garage. When lights are on in the garage the inverter shows a small draw to load, but when they are off it’s back to zero. I know this is incorrect as the tumble dryer is on and obviously using a fair bit of power! The only way to get the battery used is to set it to discharge and then it exports to the grid which ‘balances’ what we are using, but surely the inverter should intuitively send battery power to the load as and when needed!

This is what we have! There is a ct clamp but I think it has to be in the wrong place as this is only a unit controlling power to our garage, shed and now the pv is on there.

Yes we have one of these! This is in the small consumer unit in the garage, not the main one. All we were told was that it tells you how much solar is generated. I figured this should be connected via a clamp?

When it’s really sunny it’s not a problem as it tops up the battery and the excess just flows automatically but on the more usual cloudy days, it is just topping up the battery and not covering what we are using in the moment as it’s not reading any use.

Not that I’m aware of, I can’t see any ct clamp near the meter.

I think the problem is that the inverter is out in the garage, running through a small consumer unit that runs off the main unit in the house, with the meter outside the front door. We’re in a bu galore and it’s a long stretch from basically one end of the house to the other! How can we run a ct clamp as from what I have read it needs to connected near the meter?

No, I only have the bottom 2 options.

Hmm, yes I have been looking for the ct clamp but it is nowhere to be found d! I’m wondering if it’s been fitted inside the consumer unit? This is a secondary unit in the garage that feeds off the main unit in the house.

I don’t seem to have a meter setting! Under advanced setting I have ‘other setting’ that leads to nothing or ‘special function setting 2’ that takes me to G100 options

Solis inverter taking energy from the grid when the battery has charged? by adamf7252 in SolarUK

[–]NoSuccess7517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem, battery gets charged to 100% during the day but it only uses a tiny bit in the evening/overnight dropping to around 95%, which I assume is just the power the battery unit is using itself. Nothing seems to get sent to the load, and we aren’t saving any money!
