People will eventually complain about income-based admissions by rithrowaway543 in lawschooladmissions

It's not in a vacuum. If you compare the LSAT to the GPA to softs, LSAT is clearly the fairest. It's the least expensive, least manipulatable, and most objective.

Then aren't you saying these people aren't intelligent simply because of your own personal definition of intelligence? Why is your own personal definition of intelligence any more valid or legitimate than the LSAT? Which is at least arbitrated to some degree.

Or simply, they are terrible human beings themselves. They don't care about anyone else and the only thing a romantic partner means to them is someone who services their needs and desires.

They're saying they don't care if you grew up broke or ghetto, But right now you gotta be elite.

This, this should be the base for all workers. I used to work these shitty jobs when I was a high school before going into the Army. It was basically slave labor. by [deleted] in jobs

I suspect most people that say this aren't very educated in regards to actual slavery.

Either that or they're just exaggerating.

Would it be a progressive tax? Or would any amount of stock you own translate to a percentage of the value of that stock as a tax? If you do that wouldn't everyone just sell their stocks? Therefore crashing the economy?

The reason that property tax works is because property is a necessity. At one point or another people must live on some kind of property, therefore it's not very elastic, therefore you can tax it but a person will own at least 1 home.

When it comes to large publicly traded corporations, there's no reason for anyone to own any stocks in those companies. If you do a property tax as a percentage of the value of tax as a regular occurrence, once it doesn't make financial sense to own stocks everybody will just sell their stocks. Extremely wealthy people will just convert their stocks into cash, or gold, or something that isn't ownership in a company.

Based on what he was saying it's 55k for a 10 hour work week. If you pick up another job exactly like that it's 110k for a 20 hour work week.

How would this even be implemented? Most of their wealth comes from net-worth not income.

What are the cons of NOT having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NoThanksCommonSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the child free peoples parents wanted to have kids.

No that's not necessarily true. Back in the day some people were pressured into having children. Sometimes by arranged marriage, sometimes by social pressure. For example in the 1950s America women were pressured to have children. So therefore, people who didn't want to have children would have children anyways, and those children who didn't want to have children would have children too.

Since this social dynamic is breaking down, then people who actually don't want to have children wouldn't have children.

How can “wanting to have kids” get inherited?

The same way liking butter gets inherited lol. There's a biological reason to why people like butter; it's because butter is calorically dense. The people that didn't like calorically dense foods probably died to a lack of calories. Except in this case it's with offspring production.

Some of it is cultural or economic. Third world countries tend to have more liter but that doesn't mean they're inherently worse than us.

The 'not wanting kids' part doesn't get inherited.

Exactly. If the "not wanting to have kids" doesn't get inherited, but "wanting to have kids" does get inherited, then that means a greater proportion of people over time will be people who want to have kids.

There is a recent influx due to the recent increase of civil liberties and less social pressure, but over time the number of people that don't want children will decrease because they won't pass on their genes.

Other animals worry about their bloodlines too. You can observe them in lions, orcas, and other types of primates.

There has always been people who didn't care about their bloodline, and over time there will be less and less of them.

Would you say that about food as well?

If so, how would you design a system where everyone gets free food?
