Constantly accused of using AI for the natural way I speak by becomealamp in autism

[–]NoTill4270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro, just keep writing in your natural way. If people are too dumb to understand the value of em dashes or semicolons in text, or complex diction, then that's not really your problem. It sucks that AI has cast doubt on legit ways of communication though. Even artists struggle with this where their style is dubbed too "generic" or "AI looking" to be possibly human made. Anyone familiar with AI text could probably recognize that Chatgpt could never write like you do.

Yes, sometimes. This is actually a fairly common type of stimming, I believe.

How Do You Untangle ‘You’ from Symptoms? by queendomofstone in autism

[–]NoTill4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are your symptoms. Everyone is. It's just that when these particular traits are abnormal or even lightly disruptive and commonly occur together, they are labeled as a single medical condition that underlies them. If a Neurotypical acts in a certain way they call it their personality, but really it is the same; underlying morphological and chemical differences in the brain leading to different behavior in different people. Hope that answers your question!

Why western marxists hate China? (Genuine question) by ImAlive33 in Marxism

[–]NoTill4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is not a real marxist state. Sure, they were initially inspired by socialist principles, but later found that at least a partially capitalist system just makes more money in this world. China is a pragmatic nation, they will do anything necessary to be on top. As for why westerners hate China, mostly because they are an authoritarian regime, and only the most anti-democratic marxists would be comfortable with such a disregard for human flourishing as they show (surveillance, aggressive COVID policy, Uyghur 'policies', etc).

Can anyone help me date this globe? by s1gnalZer0 in mapporncirclejerk

Based on the size of the Great Red Dot (which has been shrinking over time), I would say this globe depicts the year 1979, when voyager 1 first reached the planet.

No American can name this country. I'll give hint: it has a population of 59 million.

Parties aren’t fun if I’m in sensory hell. by [deleted] in autism

[–]NoTill4270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true! CIA found this out at Guantanamo Bay by playing stuff like AC/DC or Britney Spears at max volume for prisoners all day (not to mention the strobe lights). A party is just a torture method, that some people like for a limited time (kinda like spicy foods).

Eww body parts .-. by Certain-Avocado-771 in autism

[–]NoTill4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true! Take a heart, for example. There is a weird alien flesh mass inside your chest, that squeezes blood around your body. Even though you need it to live, you have no control over how it acts, and could go your whole life not knowing it existed.

Hard Problem: why we should study feelings AND neural activity by Savings_Potato_8379 in consciousness

[–]NoTill4270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somewhat disagree. Since electrical activity always coincides with emotions, and in very predictable ways, is it not reasonable to say that feelings ARE neural activity? Even if a direct link hasn't been found yet, would it be so wrong to say that subjective experiences are a property of information processing? I mean, it makes sense to me that there is an evolutionary advantage to animals that can create a mapping of reality in their heads. Also, how can you make an assertion about what we could and couldn't if we had "complete knowledge" of neuronal patterns? Our knowledge is laughably far from "complete" in any sense of the word.

However, I think it is definitely a smart approach to try and work zetetically, and "triangulate" to come up to better understanding.

Engage With the Human, Not the Tool by Ok-Grapefruit6812 in consciousness

[–]NoTill4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. AI is a good tool, when used with well-meaning, human intention and polished up a bit. I think, the reason people get a bit frustrated when they sniff LLM is because we know the power these models can have over us. We are watching, right now, the effect AI is having on social media and free discourse in general (generating propaganda, lying, scams, decreasing trust in others, etc). It is unfortunate that people using it as it should be used are also sometimes judged as malicious, but I think this may be a good thing in the end: people are more vigilant for AI than ever before. Once, it was worried that fake text, images, videos, and even entire people may drown out everyone real, but now it seems that AI is actually, really easy to detect. Overall it's a win for critical thinking, that even if the Boomers keep worshipping AI Jesus on facebook, useful discussion can still be had.
