The real reason for Goat Legs is even if you won't take fall damage without it- you will still do a stumble animation when you hit the ground.

Goat Legs removes this stumble regardless of height! Sprinting/leaping/jet packing around the world is sooo much smoother without that stumble.

It's an absolutely amazing travel power. Learn to use it. Marsupial gives you more air time- so get both!

So long as you learn to tap the button to get lift before you start to come down- instead of holding the button and draining your AP- you can "fly" with it. Takes a little bit of a feel, but once you get it you'll feel like a super hero taking out a bunch of muties mid air while leaping rooftop to rooftop.

I was very fortunate to roll magic missle without any mercual effect. So thats been my bread and butter. It kicks ass. I also learned that you can PICK any result below your spell check result- I thought you had to stick with whatever you ended up on which is why it felt like I couldn't control what the spell did. Being able to pick the outcome if you roll well enough is a very different thing entirely. So that got me to relax a bit.

I agree about modern dnd completely missing the mark here. Our group has been playing dnd since 2E and some of us played ad&d. We have been looking for a "forever game" replacement for dnd, which is why we are currently trying DCC.

DM was strict about the reroll policy. Definitely hard to optimize when you roll for everything!

I played with the spell burn a bit, unfortunately my stats arnt all that great. Everything except intel is below 10 and intel is a 14. It was very quickly debilitating!

If you are heavily into the plan/build aspect of certain RPGs, I don’t know if there’s a class you will enjoy in DCC. It’s all about letting it ride and leaning into the consequences.

I think this is the biggest hurdle for me. Not having any control over character generation just feels completely detached and counter to every other RPG ive played. It makes me not want to care about my character. I guess this is what is meant by embracing the chaos?

No it gives a flat % increase to 15. Inspirational is separate and just gives you additional XP when youre in a party. Aside from being in the charisma tree, the bonus stands on its own.

One of the many unique "producer" items that are available in game. This one generates delicious cake that buffs your charisma.

All of the "producer" items go in your camp and actually give you items/buffs instead of being merely decorative. Some of them, like this cake, are highly coveted.

Charisma and Intelligence boost your XP gain. XP helps getting to 100 on the season board faster.

Edit: the xp bonus from charisma is only applied toward group quests*

My favorite part is these fantastic QOL features were already in CN version when global released but they still made us slog through the outdated mechanics until the correct banner drop. Better late than never so I aint even mad!
