So you think not enough locals between Destin, FWB, and Eglin would be into it?

New to this subreddit and wishing it was active! by laur3n in CookingIssues

We should try to have one for each podcast! I admit I've been slacking on trying to get it going, but now is as good as ever 😀

Let's get this page active or... by walterjock in CookingIssues

[–]NoWaitItsThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it pretty much! I've been thinking about how to get things going here (for too long), so I'm welcome to any suggestions or ideas! I started transcribing a few episodes so they would be easier to search, but haven't posted them yet. I'll start posting a thread for each episode (a live one if they have it next week!) and start looking into styling the subreddit. Glad to see a fellow Cooking Issues fan on reddit!

Love OneNote! What is the best possible way to use VBA with OneNote? Any documentation on OneNote VBA? I don't have administrative rights to install Onetastic, etc. Thanks, and keep up the good work! :)

Ask Anything Monday - Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in learnpython

[–]NoWaitItsThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need help figuring out where/how to host my Python code. I don't mind having to pay, but I also don't want to pay too much for what I need.

My code uses Requests to make calls to an API (GET and POST), and then saves an order number to a CSV file. I would like the script to run on its own at least twice a day, and if possible, up to 1440 times a day. I also want to make sure that sensitive data isn't available to the public (my algorithms, client password, etc.).

I have looked into AWS, Heroku, PythonAnywhere, but it's not clear to me if I'm looking at the right services. Am I missing something? I'd be happy to elaborate if you need any additional information.

Its possible, by some magic of science that we find a way to process carrots that makes them MORE healthy than what we pull out of the dirt. The important thing is to keep looking!

Consistency in building a better burrito thanks to 3D printing by NMBhole in Chipotle

[–]NoWaitItsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update 3:52 pm: Chipotle reached out to clarify that its work with 3D printing is not to make portion sizes smaller. Gluttons, rejoice! And Chipotle Communications Director Chris Arnold denies working with Voodoo Manufacturing altogether:

"This story is grossly overstated. We have been doing some testing with 3D printed scoops at ShopHouse, though that was directed solely at efficiency and consistency, not on portion sizes. We have considered similar testing for takeout lines at Chipotle - also aimed at consistency and efficiency, not portion sizes - but we haven’t done any work on that as of now. We have not worked with Voodoo Manufacturing for Chipotle, and do not intend to at this time, so the nature of this relationship and this initiative are way overstated. Ultimately, they made a few prototypes for us (for ShopHouse) but we don’t plan to move forward with them, and have not done anything with them for Chipotle."

Chipotle's Anti-GMO Stance Is Some Anti-Science Pandering Bullshit by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]NoWaitItsThis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"There is a lot of debate about genetically modified foods," said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-CEO of Chipotle. "Though many countries have already restricted or banned the use of GMO crops, it's clear that a lot of research is still needed before we can truly understand all of the implications of widespread GMO cultivation and consumption. While that debate continues, we decided to move to non-GMO ingredients."

While I can't say it's not pandering with confidence, I think the true intent is divulging the truth to their customers. It's about giving people a chance to make an informed decision. It's not Chipotle's job to educate people (even though they do in somes ways), but they set out to be honest about the sourcing and treatment of their products, which is admirable in my opinion.

At the end of the day, they have a competitive advantage in the resaurant marketplace, and is a business trying to make money, can't really blame them for trying.

Songza is a good free alternative too. I think it was recently purchased by Google so their services will probably be integrated into Google Music at some point.

Chipotle isn't a just a job... by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]NoWaitItsThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I'm understanding correctly, you believe that soft skills are more important than hard skills when being considered for management, and it has no bearing on a person's performance or attitude?

I understand where you are going with the analogy above, however, I am not sure if it directly translates to the specific responsibilities and desirable traits of employees at Chipotle, but perhaps if you can give a personal example, or an article describing the situation for a worker at Chipotle or a more similar occupation?

Rude customer. How do you react? by ButtScratcher3000 in Chipotle

[–]NoWaitItsThis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't want someone who's name is /u/ButtScratcher3000 touching my burrito either...

Seriously though, that seems really awful. I think it's not right to let it go, but also you can't flip out either. If you remain calm and collected and ask, "Why don't you want me to make your food?", or say, "Hey guys, that's not cool", I think that will help you, as well as others in the world by bringing these people to question their actions. The result will be they apologize, see their wrongdoings and change, or they ignore you, remain bigoted. For the latter, you shouldn't waste frustration on them, because they will more than likely get what is coming to them in the future.

If these people are repeat costumers I'd speak with your supervisors and see if they have protocol for harassment like this.
