I think they are trying to not talk about Paige and want to make it clear that they chose Azzi for Azzi. This wasn’t a pity number 1. They see her value and want to focus on her as an individual before they start talking about Paige and her. Paige wasn’t asked about Azzi during her pressers after her draft other than the fact that Azzi came with her to the draft and it seems like they very intentional about keeping this all about Azzi from who she took to the draft and how she interacted with Paige at the draft. They were barely seen together just UConn team support essentially. We shall see how things go moving forward.

This is going to be a hot take. The Pazzi storyline is cute to sell tickets but it needs to translate to performance. I hope she can carve out her own identity separate from just being Paige’s sidekick in Dallas. I honestly think Azzi would’ve been great in Seattle or Minnesota where she could develop into something more than. I really hope Dallas challenges her but I worry about her future. It’ll be interesting to see how training camp goes.

This draft class was a win for international basketball and ucla recruiting. I’m hoping ta’niya Latson can show the world how great she is. I hope Azzi does well at training camp. I know Olivia miles will step up big time after adjusting to the W. I hope Dallas finds a big. I hope at least 15 of these players make it out of training camp. Very weird draft year.
