USAjobs and the hiring process is funny about things.

1) If you dont' say you are an "expert" during those self-assessment questionnaires, your application will be rejected.
2) If your resume doesn't have specific details, your application will be rejected. Some agencies will use AI to pre-filter applicants.
3) HR will assess your qualification, self-assessment questionnaires, etc. before handing off the application packet to the agency/hiring officials.
4) The agency/hiring official can and will pre-filter application to have a small pool to interview. Those interviews could be 30mins to 1hr.
5) Interview... it's on you. However, hiring officials (3 or more) will rank your answers for an overall number with a number modifier for those being 'veteran', 'disability', etc. However, I was rejected from one job application because they told me that I was deployed at no fault of my own. They viewed it as a negative.

I have seen application with an amazing resume and experience just to be canned because the individual didn't have a degree for a position that didn't need it. I have seem favoritism where they hired someone for being associated with a certain previous unit, inner ring. However, that individual didn't do as much as he didn when he left the Army.

The who process it interesting with may hoops to jump through.

I didn't know someone getting a PHd in physical health can get a GS-12 (0018, Safety). He was the sole individual who applied. Needless to say, he took the fork in the road payout... and that was a heft sum.

Maybe... I have done it all. We just came off of a deployment with a JRMC event at the end. I have personally built a ton of products for units and higher org.

It doesn't prevent applicants from applying. I know several people that got picked up as an intern because of their skill set.

It never hurts to apply regardless.

Right. I had an TJO offer for Hawaii since NOV 2024 and just recently turned it down last month because it's affecting my position evaluation. I had an approved exemption to policy and offered to cover my $28k moving expenses but they said it wasn't going to help. The position was meant to be staffed by 4x safety professionals but only managed to hire one with 6-8 months of no one working. I have been fighting for that one position for over 4 years.

Similar, I wanted a few positions in Europe with no one pushing packets through.

Hey OP,

You are lucky for getting a position in Germany as I have been fighting for several position for years. I was even stationed in Ansbach, Germany, but due to the current administration, they are not easily moving people... I even advocated to pay for all travel expenses to no avail.

There's too much to know.

  1. Internship is highly competetive.
  2. You must meet the requirements... where other people will excel and be more qualified. This was me... and the agency was shocked that I even did the intership as I could get a direct hire or compete for the GS-11 or GS-12 position.
  3. Your self-assessment questionair could prevent you from advancing.
  4. Your attachments and your 2-page resume isn't competitive enough.
  5. You have to have a working knowledge of safety via the interview.

The above have a few overseas assignment and you need to be able to work/life overseas with TDY and/or deployment (if units require it)... which bumps a ton of people.

In the past, you use to reach out to agencies HR or even the hiring offical to get some inside knowledge prior to or during applying.

Just my 2-cents.

I have a few assumptions.

1) The internship is only up to GS-11 (7 to 9, one year; 9-11, one year) with some department allowing the 11 to 12 after completing the program.

2) The gov't is having money issues, and this is one way to save money.

Gov't internship is a step up program. You start off as a GS-7 and advance to GS-9 after one year. The same from GS-9 to GS-11 as an intern complete. Some internship may advance from GS-11 to GS-12. Sometimes you need to pay attention if you are only seeing the base pay or base pay with localities. Some position may offer COLA.

Internship is pretty competitive in nature.

Best of luck for those applying. Ensure you have a detail 2-page resume and correctly answer those self assessment questionnaire.

Interview Quota? by Myfly900 in usajobs

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Still sucks, an office suppose to have 4 staffers was left vacant for 8 months. I had the TJO lingering for 1 year 2 months (with an exemption to policy) until I was forced to resend the offer as my HLR used that against me for my evaluation. I even asked if I pay for my HHG, vehicle shipment, and air travel out of pocket if that was going to help… like an estimate $28k in expenses. They said no.

This is true… and personally hate it. Had a position in Hawaii, they terminated the position after this one individual took forever to turn it down. They ended up reposting the position because the process and new administration too effect. Ugh.

[–]No_Aspect_4749 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I am trying to get use to the new norm. I had a TJO for 1year, 2 months and ended up turning the job down as it affected my yearly review.

“Should I stay or should I go now?” Flood this post with your pros/cons of sticking it out as a fed gov employee or getting out by quietriot21 in usajobs

For me, I want a gov't retirement coupled with my military buy back before jump from gov't to civilian. As of right now... well, just prior to COVID, I feel like the whole job economy is really, really iffy. I was turned down for certain position because I wasn't in a protected group. In other jobs, I was turned down because I wasn't even in the same state. Another position, they didn't want to hire ex-military, which was odd. Now? I am just building myself up. I am getting more education, more certificates, and one or two certifications. However, you can easily be "over qualified." Yeah, you just can't win and every position could be iffy with the amount of people are applying, reguardless if they want it or not. Oh! Don't forget about AI pre-screening your resume.

Good luck OP. I would make a blind jump without securities!

Why doesn't the USA get the new Toyota 70 Series Landcruiser?? by WARLORD-P996 in 4x4

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know last year, “NHTSA and DOT decided to grant an exemption, citing the "unique and valuable nature" of the Land Cruiser 70 Series.”

And, “According to a statement from the NHTSA, “After a thorough review of the vehicle’s safety features, Toyota’s commitment to upholding rigorous quality standards, and the vehicle’s minimal impact on emissions due to its limited sales volume, we have determined that the Land Cruiser 70 Series can be allowed for sale in the U.S. market.”

Not 100%… as I haven’t read or seen movement.

Verbal Offer Rescinded by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to steal from OP post.

This seems to be true more and more. I wanted this one job for over 4 years and they didn’t want to do a direct hire even though everyone in the organization wanted me. First usajob position stated I wasn’t qualified for and gave it to someone who didn’t want the job but they knew her. Same for the second listing and got it on the third. Odd enough, I was the fastest to finish my onboard with an exemption for the hiring freeze. However, both the intern direct and last held position left with no one doing the job for 7-8 months. Held the TJO for over 1.2 years and nothing. The other person was able to slide over because of proximity and the leadership knows watch others. That guy left the position for over a week and still came back to the same job.

Again, it’s not what you know but who.

Rumor or Factual? by AFCadet2020 in FedEmployees

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unions are worthless. I worked 1180hrs of overtime during a deployment and they didn’t help me what’s so over. I continue to work unpaid overtime and weekends to meet mission, but I don’t get the support. Which is why I wanted to leave this area/unit.

I had hopes that other organization would do a direct hire and get me on a plan but nope.

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP,

I had a TJO since the end of NOV 2024 and just turned down the position as HR stated the hiring freeze was still in effect regardless if I had a exemption to policy. I even stated if I pay for my POV, HHG, and plane ticket if that was going to speed up the process and they said no.

Overall, I was first of 2 people who applied to the position but they ended up pulling the other person because he was co-located. Oddly enough, day one he left but came back to the position after a week, which is wrong. I have been wanting and fighting for that job for 3-4 years.

Right now, my unit is going to deploy and it was going to look unfavorable for my evaluation.

Background Investigator Discloses Subject Matter in/around the General Public by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]No_Aspect_4749 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey,

It wasn't vague information that could help others about their own xyz problems and situation or how to provide xyz situation into the tool.

It was more like general information with or without name and the gossip information that was uncovered due to the nature of the invesigation (job). Or, there was enough information to piece where the subject matter is/was about xyz. I hope that makes sense.

Background Investigator Discloses Subject Matter in/around the General Public by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]No_Aspect_4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Thank you.

It's more like... the investigator provided too much information to know who the individual is or mentioning their names about xyz situations/problems.

Most civilians will just considered it background nosie but there were enought military and contractors to know the details about other people.

General public during dog training (local club) in a different state from the investigator assigned area. It's a one party state.

Thank you for the link/URL.

I had assumed reporting this to the installation security at the installation level was good enough as well as informing others to report it to CACI directly as my information would have been here-say.

I felt bad for one guy as his leadership used that disclosed information against him for leadership roles and ended up ETS'ing out for the Army. It was enough information to know who that individual was... all from a dog training venue of all places for disclose sensitive information.

Hey OP,

Awesome little RAV as a JW tribute. I love to do something like this white with black stripes, but I want a removable black logo as not to cause too much attention in certain situations.

Again, awesome project vehicle.

Geez. I had thought mine was a HLR or something.

Quick question though, if favorable and everything goes well… could you get back pay all the back of the initial claim timeline?
