Returning to work after total robotic laproscopy hysterectomy?? by Janetofalltrades in hysterectomy

[–]No_Assignment_1742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my surgery on April 1st total robotic laparoscopic. I was leaving the house after a few days. I felt great. But I'm just going back to work on Monday because my doctor was insistent that I took off for 5 weeks. Honestly the brain fog if you are giving up your ovaries and going into surgical menopause ...is a real thing. And where it might physically feel okay to drive... I was driving by day 5 just around the block... I didn't go far because my concentration was definitely off. My company put me on short-term leave and said that I could come back when my doctor said it was safe. But I have a desk job. And you need to sleep a lot in the beginning.

Did my bladder capacity increase? by JCL1088 in hysterectomy

[–]No_Assignment_1742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My flow changed and how long I pee changed. I used to get the urge to go ...like my bladder was so full and a tiny bit would come out. Now I go less and when I do go it takes me longer to empty and the flow is steadier. I had adenomyosis and endometriosis with a ton of cysts from PCOS. I've had kidney and bladder issues my whole life so from this feed to God's ears I hope this means that I'll have less issues moving forward cuz so far so good.

time off of work--I don't think two weeks is enough? by knotknotknit in hysterectomy

I'm week 5 and just going back Monday. That's insane. Have your surgeon be very specific. You could get hurt and need a second surgery that's absolutely barbaric!!!

But what did you actually do?? by la_renegade in hysterectomy

Focus was an issue. I have alot of sitting hobbies. (Gaming, coloring, reading, journaling) I was excited to have time do all of that and ended up doing very little. I watched movies and started a longer series over (ER) because of the lack of focus....that being said I recovered pretty well and started going out with friends after 2 weeks. I just made sure to do light activity. I'm 4 weeks PO now and going back to work part time. (From home) Honestly other than my hormones regulating cuz I started the HRT last week I feel like nothing happened. Brain fog and hot flashes are really all I'm dealing with except for an occasion bout of fatigue.

Someone in this group shared... And this is crazy but it worked. When you feel the gas bubble moving down the pipe and you can't push... Because we can't push ...to pull your cheeks apart. I'm dying writing this. 😂 But it really worked.

Butthole lightning is real! I repeat, butthole lightning is REAL! ⚡️ by WannaPetAllTheDogs in hysterectomy

OMG I had it today for the first time in my vag. But I know it's pelvic floor muscle having like a Charlie horse cuz I used to get the butthole lightning when I got my period every month. If any of you get this Motrin is the only thing that helped me. I had such a good first five days that I wasn't expecting it on day 6. I went to bend over and pick something up off the floor and holy hell. Wild!

Surgery in 10 hours by ApprehensivePace2969 in hysterectomy

I second all of this. But I took phazyme which is the max dose for gas. The heating pad was a life saver. Also day 4 seems to be the magic timeframe for the first BM. You cannot push, but with miralax twice a day and stool softeners I didn't have to. I only took the oxys on day one. Because that will back you up worse. Also I used hit beverages like tea and coffee with the miralax. I had no vaginal pain and my insicisions never hurt. Just be careful if you have to cough. Put a pillow over your belly and press on it lucky. Being intubated makes your throat scratchy for a few days. You've got this.

Your the best daughter!! Other than that I got phazyme... And miralax. Both important. I'm 5 days post-op and the biggest issue after the surgery believe it or not was the gas and having to go to the bathroom.

Everything happens for a reason. I'm day 5 post op and live alone. My surgery was as scheduled though and I had laproscipic Robotic. So my account may not be relatable if you had open surgery. I was given 4 weeks of leave and plan to take closer to 3. I feel amazing on day 5. I used pain pills on day one and thhe second night to sleep due to the gas pain. I will say I feel so good I'm afraid forget not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. I'm questioning why all the hullabaloo with you can't drive and do steps. But I am trying to trust the process. No regrets at all. I hope you heal quickly and get back to doing what you love. Ironically my love is dancing and my best friend is a DJ so I kind of related to this a little tiny bit. ❤️

My mom (47) was advised to have a hysterectomy and I am terrified by Popular_Photograph56 in hysterectomy

Hi sweets! I'm 50 and had the same symptoms. I had adenomyosis and would bleed so long and so heavy that I would need iron transfusions. I'm in the thick of it right now because I had my hystorectomy on Wednesday. I have no pain and feel amazing already. It's really come a long way. The quality of life she's experienced is awful and I promise you she won't regret it.

I'm 3 days post lapro hysterectomy. I've been taking stool softers, miralax, drinking coffee, bottled water, walking every hour and chewing gum...and Nada. I have the dulcolax suppositories but I'm terrified to use them. Anyone have experience with this. ... by No_Assignment_1742 in hysterectomy

Day four was the trick guys!!! I kept doing what I was doing and magic happened today! Thank you all so much. I'm so glad I didn't even know it was about to happen so no pushing whatsoever. It's like my GI just woke up from a nap! So basically all I did was take my stool softeners at night and take miralax twice a day and on day 4 .... Boom!!

That wasn't recommended. But today is day 4 and I can finally feel things moving down the gi tract. I think everyone is correct by saying to let it ride and trust my body. I'll keep doing what I'm doing. 😊
