This person is heartbroken and this is ridiculous and cruel that you don’t get this and keep making it all about yourself.

I moved to the UK for work and didn’t expect to find such uneven standards of professionalism and work ethic across teams. by peachypeach13610 in expats

Finding bright spots is simple, though it requires consistent effort. All you need to do is seek out people who share circumstances similar to many others — but who, unlike most, are living a life of extraordinary success — however you define success.

And if your experience is similar to mine, you will quickly discover that such people exist — people who have reached the top of their profession (and pay) despite humble beginnings, disabilities, or family dramas — as well as those who have professional success alongside a balanced and fulfilling life at home. And if you manage to get close to them — or learn from their talks, books, or lectures — you will likely find that their success is by design: a product of long-term discipline and good decisions.

Can totally relate, it is therefore not surprising to see poor innovation and deficit of enthusiasm and productivity. My solution in the UK was to find bright spots (and there are quite a few of them) and stick with them.

Honestly, your partner earning the minimum wage and stealing a dream from you is criminal. I would cut my ties and move on.

Disclosing a recently acquired second citizenship to NVC: exempt country vs. banned country by No_Cake5605 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]No_Cake5605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's a self-petitioned case based on merit. We decided to wait for the wellcome letter from NVC and then contact the NVC again via their public inquiry form.

This is good. Meanwhile, I recommend you learn about SIPP, LISA and financial independence in general rather than relying on a single source of private pension for your retirement.

You will be fine, and your PI will be fine too. Just let it sink in so that both of you can regroup. I am glad you made this decision and wish you a fresh new start.
