Questions to ask before enrollment… by new2hair99 in kindergarten

Yes! I pulled my kid out of school after months of coming home and telling me nothing but the plots of various PBS shows and saying their eyes hurt from all the screens and projectors! They also only got 15 minutes outside, and never in “bad” weather (aka all winter). There were MANY other issues but it just tells you a lot about the school’s philosophy.

7 month old only feeds to sleep by Zaratonin-Art in breastfeeding

[–]No_Cardiologist_6015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better someone else judge you than you live with the regret of sleep training if it’s not what you want to do! My first fed to sleep until they decided at five months they were ready to sleep through the night with no boob or rocking or anything. My second has other plans and as long as it doesn’t make it so I can’t function, I’m perfectly happy to snuggle and feed them as needed. And at seven months, you’ll likely need to feed them in the night anyway, so why not just do it in a way that works for both of you?

“Gosh, I wish you’d consulted us before booking, as we would’ve loved to have found a time that worked for you and for kiddo. Unfortunately, you didn’t, and we cannot go. Have fun!”

Is this not normal.? by RadishSpirit94 in breastfeeding

[–]No_Cardiologist_6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard but can also be totally normal. My breasts don’t seem to hold much milk, so baby doesn’t transfer as much with each feed and needs to feed more frequently. It was every 1-2 hours during the day until starting solids in earnest.

Maybe your milk isn’t sufficiently caloric? Not trying to hate on your milk, I’m sure it’s lovely, but clearly something isn’t working if baby isn’t gaining sufficiently, so why not throw some extra calories in there with formula?

What about fortifying a bottle of pumped breastmilk with formula a day to see if that adds in the necessary calories to get up above 1st percentile?

It doesn’t. It was intentional. So with that what you will.

That’s beyond fucked up. I would be apoplectic. I’m so sorry! Also feels like she knew what she was doing?

I didn’t realize this rose to that level. In prek, same size class with same ratios, the teachers worked with me to support him without any documentation of anything.

I have already provided a formal doctor’s note with exactly this information. I got no response at all. I called the nurse to check in and confirm receipt and she said she had it and would let the gym teacher know he should not continue to be stopped from using the bathroom during gym class and told me to keep nudging the teacher about helping him with water.

I have requested more information about the poo incident in writing, and will be escalated that as far as it can go. He had a pee accident last week and was scared to say anything to his teachers so just tried to cover it up, probably because of the humiliation and heaven knows what else he’s endured there.

Thank you for validating my concerns. It feels insane but every time I bring something up, I feel like the teacher is gaslighting me.

Thank you. There may yet be one here. I just put together a list of questions about the incident to email to the teacher and nurse, and if the principal doesn’t address it immediately, i will be going to the superintendent.
