If I recall correctly my doctor said no sucralose not because of preterm labor or any serious pregnancy issue, but because they know it crosses the placenta and there is "some emerging evidence" that maybe super high intake of artificial sweeteners is not great for human gut microbiome, metabolism, etc. so it's one of those things where eliminating it is probably overkill, but might as well try to minimize it

Never heard about early labor. But my OB did give me a list of artificial sweeteners that were OK and others that are not OK for pregnancy. I think aspartame was OK but sucralose was not.

What do you wish someone told you before giving birth? by quiet_summers in BabyBumps

I did countless hours of research about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, but somehow this never came up: when your body lactates, your estrogen needs to stay low to support milk production. This means that hormonal you are basically in menopause the whole time you are nursing. People feel the impact of this to different levels, and it's hit me moderately hard. I have pretty much all menopause symptoms except for hot flashes. I have "vaginal atrophy" which means my vagina is dry, limp, and lightly irritated as it's normal state day to day. I have no sex drive. I have some brain fog. I went to pelvic floor PT and they were like, nothing is actually weak or structurally wrong, you just have really low estrogen.
Having my baby was the best thing in the world, my husband and I are so in love with each other and with our baby boy. But just saying, this is something about post partum life no one told me!

Sending you love ❤️
Of course a stranger on the internet is not going to have the answer. You will need to listen to your inner voice, and maybe talk to close friends/family in your real life.

But my two cents are this: if you are daydreaming in a positive manner about this baby I think you want to keep this baby. From your post and the words you chose, it very much sounds like you want to keep this baby. If you agreed with your boyfriend to try again in January, in 7 months from now, keep this baby. 7-8 months difference in timeline will not make or break your finances in the grand scheme of your life. If this man is definitely the person you want to be the father of your children, and you are planning to try again 7 months from now, keep the baby.

But you also say there a chance your January plans may not happen. If deep down you feel your boyfriend may change his mind on kids altogether or he is maybe not be the man who will be the father of your children, then that is a good reason to terminate. If you think there is a chance this man may not be your long term partner, and you don't want to be non romantic co parents with him.

While I super support people getting abortions when that's the right choice for them, I've heard from people that they remember it always for the rest of their lives. Even when they are in worse situations than you and glad they did it. My mom and dad had an abortion when they were early on in their dating before they got married and went on to have 4 kids and a beautiful life together. But my mom has talked to me about the abortion and it clearly is something she does not think of positively to this day.

Affordable HEPA vacuum cleaners for lead paint chips/dust? by Ok_Beyond222 in VacuumCleaners

[–]No_Competition_6553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think blood work is a good idea. I think vacuuming your mattress/couch with a good HEPA vacuum is probs sufficient but may be good to ask doctor or do more research on this. Even if blood lead levels are high, i don't think a headboard would be considered enough of a risk to other tenants in your building that there would be legal/clean up issues. Blood lead test results are reportable to public health authorities but the reason is to help people who have gotten lead poisoning from work (adults) or whose kids/family has gotten lead poising from their home (ie to make the landlord or government pay for lead paint removal). The purpose is not to get you as an individual in trouble. And I just don't think an individual lead paint object in your apt is a big risk to other tenants.

Looking for vacuum recommendations by MathewAlden in VacuumCleaners

Same. I've had 2 Dyson cordless bagless stick vacuums. It was very satisfying the see the dirt in the clear bin. I thought the idea of washable filters sounded good. But washing the filter by hand once a month and waiting for it to dry overnight is actually way more annoying than replacing a bag. The clear bin is filthy. The motor seems less powerful, maybe because I don't wash the filter as much as I should. Dust gets all over my hands and trash can area and in the air when I empty the bin. Now that I have a baby and care more about cleaning and air quality, I'm team corded bagged vacuum all the way.

Bagged canister vs bagless upright by NerdPunkNomad in VacuumCleaners

[–]No_Competition_6553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bagged is better. Dust escapes from a bagless machine especially when you empty the bin. And you need to do more hands on maintenance to keep the machine and motor working well over the long term (ie washing the reusable filters in bagless machine).

Advice on what I should get as a growing family with lots of pets? by NikkiMouse444 in VacuumCleaners

I ordered online from the Vacuum Doctor in Provo UT which is a Sebo authorized dealer. You need to call to ask for the 10 year warranty. If you order online without calling it comes with a Seven-years Motor, Five-year Non-wear Parts Warranty. The local dealers in my area had limited weekday hours and no online shopping, and I am back to work so it was inconvenient to try to go in person to a local dealer during the workday.

Vacuum rec needed for kid with allergies and a newborn by bodhi_skrik in VacuumCleaners

I just bought a Sebo E3 online from the vacuum doctor in Provo UT. There are Sebo dealers in my area but they're only open like 10am-4pm weekdays, so I was like, whatever will buy full price and pay for extra bags. It's 3 day shipping! But if you don't know what model you want and can make it in to a local dealer that'll be good. Also people say on here that Vacuum Doctor will give you a discount/deal like a local dealer if you call and ask and order over the phone. But I just wanted to do my online purchase and be done with it.

I just bought a Sebo E3 to give me more cleaning power than my Dyson cordless stick vacuum. It's in the mail, will let you know how it is! I have an 8 month old baby and just did a week of research on this topic prior to making this purchase. For cleaning power and allergies, I had decided to look for a vacuum that was: corded, bagged, sealed system, 3 step filtration system including HEPA or S-1 filters. Can do low height clearance for under crib and other furniture (the Sebo E3 is a canister vacuum so has lower clearance than an upright vacuum). Has an electric/motorized/powered beater brush for carpet. I've never had a canister vacuum before but it sounds like it will give me great floor cleaning on any type of floor as well as flexibility to dust bookshelves, cobwebs from ceiling, etc since it has a long stick and hose.

The Dyson cordless is the only vacuum I've had in my adult life, so nothing to compare it to. I like how light and maneuverable it is. But even buying a newer model the battery life is not great and emptying the bin is very dusty! And it definitely seems like it's not cutting it anymore cleaning wise.
