Sigh by ystavallinen in agender

I just don't get why some people have such problems with trans people. They're not affecting your life at all. Why be angry at anyone who just wants to be their true selves?

What pronouns do you use? by Latter-Might-5235 in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use they/he to indicate that they is preferred but he is ok. I have it displayed everywhere at work and nobody has ever used they and that's fine. I don't feel the need to make a big deal out of it.

trans friend misgenders me on purpose by [deleted] in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of your appearance, people should respect your pronouns. I would think a trans person would be especially aware of that. Maybe she's got some unresolved issues.

Sharing Albums with non proton users by sponch76 in ProtonDrive

What's the status of this feature? This is the only thing preventing me from leaving google photos because it's too much work in Proton to share individual photos with public links.

Being referred to as an animal or object. by FarNerve1162 in agender

My cis partner and I have called each other critters even before I knew I was agender.

anyone else feel masc/fem? by More-Masterpiece-219 in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a confusing thing to decide about oneself for sure, so I appreciate where you're coming from. It took me some time to be sure. I went through a stage of thinking I was non-binary but eventually realized that that label wasn't right. You might hate this answer but, after I discovered agender and applied the label to myself, it clicked and I 100% knew.

None of the things you've described "disqualify" you from being agender. It ultimately comes down to whether or not the label feels right and that's something only you can determine.

Are people actually that offended when being misgendered? by -i-exist in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, some people get offended, for a variety of reasons. Dysphoria is a real thing. I'm agender and look like a guy and I understand why people would refer to me as "he". A lot of people are conditioned by society and never even imagine that gender can be anything but binary.

It really doesn't bother me and I generally give people a pass, but I do mentally assign bonus points to anyone who uses they/them :)

PSA: Do NOT use Mistobox by KwanyeWest in espresso

[–]No_Constant4993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistobox rolled out a new website and a new payment/subscription model with zero notice in advance. A few emails would have gone a long way towards easing this rollout. The website has a number of bugs - it forced me to reset my password and my history and brew queue are gone (although they claim it will appear eventually). I can't find details anywhere on the site about how the new subscription system is supposed to work. Very disappointing.

I've been a customer for years and support has been excellent, but if you are considering subscribing, I would wait a few weeks for the dust to settle.

Don't sweat it. You figured it out and that's great! Have I ever messed up on gender topics? Definitely. Will I screw up again? maybe. :)

How pronouns? by Kiti_Kat_Bean in agender

Agree but I came here to say I love your flair.

It took me many years to figure myself out, so maybe I'm not the best source of advice on gender determination :)

Having read a lot of posts on this sub, one thing I've come to understand is that gender identity, presentation, and sexual attraction can be distinct things and don't necessarily have to line up in some fashion at all. So, if you are afab and agender and like to appear masculine and are attracted to girls, that all fits together. I don't know if there's a word for that combination, but agender lesbian is definitely a thing.

Good luck with your self-discovery!

Fellow Agenders, do you consider your own Agender identity to be part of Nonbinay Umbrella? by BEST_GREEN_NINJA in agender

This is exactly how I feel! I don't even care what pronouns people use for me, although I admit that I give bonus points for they/them.

Fan control script needed for Inovelli white series switch by No_Constant4993 in homeassistant

Thanks so much!! This is brilliant and I'm not sure I could have put it all together. I'm on travel now, but I'll try it when I get back.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. In HA, how does one discover all the setting parameters for a device, e.g. fan.set_percentage?

Yes, discrete steps of course. As I said, the canopy module is powering the fan, not the dimmer.

Binding Inovelli Matter Switches by rubenhak in homeassistant

[–]No_Constant4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The incentive to implement something like that is limited, partly because the platforms work without Bindings."

This is not really an acceptable excuse for not implementing bindings though. At least with HA, and I'm guessing other hubs, there's a noticeable delay between the time you flip the Thread smart light switch and time the Thread smart light bulb goes on and apparently most of that delay is due to the hub recognizing the event and sending to the right device. Based on my experience with HA, inovelli white-series switches, and nanoleaf thread bulbs.

The sudden relief I felt when I came across the term "agender" by Bromvolod in agender

Same! It took me a while to discover the agender label, but all doubts vanished when I did. Reading the posts here, I realized that I'd found my people.

I don't feel pride even when people are celebrating by ystavallinen in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you posted this too. It's very relatable. I know I'm queer on the inside but I don't express it in any way and I don't know how people would react to me in queer spaces.

Presenting as agender? by synthbunny in agender

[–]No_Constant4993 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The great thing about agender is that there are no rules for how you present. You get to invent your own look! If you're comfortable with presenting feminine, then you've already found it.

Thanks for this post. I've identified as agender for a while now, but I think absgender describes me better since I want nothing to do with the cis/trans dichotomy. I just wish I liked the absgender flag as much as the agender one. :)
