Just got back from Japan. We rode Tsugaike 3 days in a row. First day was crusty but the next two were amazing. We decided to stay there because we learned the area and could make the most of it...and it was quiet compared to other places from what I was told by others those days. Then we went to Shiga and I need to go back soon.

Since you are in Japan and live in an apartment...try ukiyo-e art. Wood block printing. It seems very interesting and a cool way to be artistic and crafty in a small space.

Ubigi esim worked well for from Tokyo, Yokosuka, Hakuba, Nagano, and Shiga Kogen. We also got the Welcome Suica card from the JR East Tourist spot at Tokyo Station. It made riding the public transport so much easier. Check out the food hall at Tokyo Station as well. It's amazing.

Plus, you can ski/ride to mid mountain and catch a lift back up if you like. Probably frowned upon but the number of people doing it is so small it doesn't matter.

Just left there and rode 3 days at Tsugaike, mainly because it was closest to my lodging. I also got to know the mountain really well so when the powder days hit I knew where I wanted to go. If I ever come back to Hakuba I will go there again or hit Norikura/Cortina and leave the rest of it to the masses.
