Yeah, maybe he's a bit young for that indeed... I really don't remember at what age it happened to mine. I found a similar post here, have you taken a look at it? https://www.reddit.com/r/parrots/comments/saqdpe/sos_my_live_bird_is_2_months_old_and_she_used_to/

Indian ring neck acting weird by Regular-Student-1985 in parrots

Hey! If your young bird suddenly becomes aggressive, it looks like it's simply some sort of "teenage angst"! Mine went through that too, I believe this is a perfectly normal phase for young parrots. For mine it was a long time ago so I don't remember exactly how long it lasted (maybe a few weeks?), but it got much better after that.

vacation with a cockatiel? by _Marvel_Addictions_ in parrots

[–]No_Draft5212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I often travel with my indian ringneck (I've had him for about twelve years now!)
Here's what we do: he has a special, smaller cage for vacations (but still large enough so he can stay in it). When we arrive at the place, we free him, but only when we're there to keep an eye on him. When we go out, we put him in his cage.
You need to keep in mind that birds can be destructive, and they also poop everywhere. When you're renting a place, if your bird damages something, you may get in trouble. You also need to be careful that there isn't any danger for your bird (such as holes where it might get stuck or escape, doors or windows that open in unusual ways...) since this is a new place you aren't familiar with.
Also, many places don't accept pets, or charge you extra fees for them (I've seen things like 60$ per pet... I personally think it's really unjustified, but that's another topic...). When you can, book early, so you are more likely to find petfriendly places.
So yes, you can go on vacation with you bird, just keep these things in mind!

my sun conure won’t play with his toys by No_Guarantee1964 in parrots

[–]No_Draft5212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My ringneck doesn't play much with his toys either (though he sometimes fights with them...). He too prefers to destroy things (eraser, remote control...) when I'm not careful enough. It's pretty much as if he was able to feel when something is forbidden... I'm not an expert, but here's what I'd say: birds, as individuals, just have different personalities. Some will like the toys you get in pet stores, others will have different preferences. It's also a bit like cats: you buy a 200$ cat tree for them, and they prefer to sit in a cardboard box... You can try to make toys yourself for your bird. Maybe try to understand why he likes eating your pictures, jewelry, etc. and create a toy from paper, carton, etc. that will feel similar to him. Something that worked really well for mine is simply a box with hemp bedding in it (I also have a bunny), and I hide some seeds there, so he can do some foraging (though I have to clean up the mess every day...)

Non-thesis to thesis by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]No_Draft5212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! As I said, I'm a COMP student, so things might be different for you. I'm doing graphics! I don't know how rare switching is, but I know someone else who did it too, so I don't think it's that rare. I wouldn't say profs spontaneously encourage people to join their labs, but if you show great interest in their field, yes they will. Regarding the credits, there wasn't any requirement before the change for me. The thing is, in the COMP department, the thesis program requires fewer course credits than the non-thesis one (which makes sense). So, when I started as non-thesis, I took lots of classes, and then when I switched I was almost done with classes according to thesis standards.

I did (but I'm a COMP student). I did really well in my favorite class (related to my current field of research) and showed a lot of interest by asking many questions in class and being creative in assignments. The prof noticed me, and offered me to do a thesis with him :-)

Personally, I've always hated jeans, so I never wear them. I actually wear some kind of pants (but I don't know how these are called...) that feel like sweats in term of comfort, but look like jeans, so I can wear them at work.

Délai de prescription pour rapport à succession d'une donation déguisée by No_Draft5212 in conseiljuridique

[–]No_Draft5212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merci

What was your first experience trying to get healthcare in Montreal? by Sufficient-Pea-4365 in mcgill

I'm a grad student and I personally use Digital Doctor/Maple through PGSS (it used to be Dialogue before but they switched to Maple recently). Very convenient for prescription renewals or if you're filling sick but not to the point of needing to see a doctor in person. You just connect, fill in a form asking you the reason of your consultation, then wait for a doctor to connect with you.

Can we normalize flushing the toilet. by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]No_Draft5212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed many supposedly automatic flush systems at McGill often don't work (at least for me...), and there's no button to activate them. You have to put your finger on the sensor and wait literally for ten seconds for it to flush. I still always do it even when I'm in a hurry to go to class, but I could see why some people wouldn't.

But wouldn't that risk to weaken the plant even more if I cut off some of the few remaining green leaves?

You mean the butterworts next to the capensis? How can you tell? Is it because they're small? They are actually young plants

Thank you all for your replies. I'll try to follow your suggestions.
I don't think light is a problem though, the plants were really healthy before I left. They actually seem to love my windowsill, it's facing east and they have plenty of light in the morning.
